When I depress the clutch pedal, the brake lights flash on briefly, and occasionally the bulb out warning light flashes up as well. Sometimes if I hold the clutch pedal a certain position, the brake lights stay on. I've disconnected the clutch switch, but no joy, does anyone have any ideas what the problem could be?
Check the brake switch hasn't moved back away from it's correct position on the pedal, this can cause the brake switch to activate with the clutch or brake. :D
Sorted thanks mate, it wasn't out by much, but obviously enough.
On my 850, the brake switch handles all the power for the bulbs, my lights stopped working and I took the switch out and dismantled it. The contacts were blackened from all the years of handling the current. Quick rub down with some emery paper and all working again. Now obviously its a much younger car so the design could have changed, but if its the same then might be worth cleaning.
It had recently had a new brake light switch fitted by the previous owner, possibly for the same problem, they obviously didn't quite push it home.
LOL, rules out dodgy contacts then. Glad its sorted bud :)
Now to work my way through the other problems. :wallbash: Would be nice if they were all as easy to solve.
Hi There are two switches for the brake lights one switch one sensor. The brake pedal sensor ( it's not just on off ) switch. Brake pedal position sensor resistance at 0mm 1200-1950 ohms 20mm 850-1550 ohms 30mm 700-1400 ohms 50mm 400-1000 ohms It's to do with the ABS how hard we are trying to stop....the car. The clutch pedal position sensor is also the same. 0mm 1500-2500 ohms 25mm 1000-2000 ohms 50mm 750-1750 ohms 100mm 500-1000 ohms This is for the denso system The data is almost the same for the me-7 system
