Hi folks just thought I would tell you of my recent events with regards to my new car. I noticed the car making a funny noise while turning to the left so I thought better get it checked out and started having a look on Google for Volvo Specialists in Glasgow. The search results came back with a couple so I came onto the forum and searched for posts with both the garages I was looking at and both came out to be getting good feedback. I went round to both the garages one night to see where they were and decided to use the one on the East side as I am in the south side and there are none near me. The garage I chose is nearer the city centre and was easier for me to get to work from, so I thought great! Just jumped on a bus from the Forge straight into the city centre. Dropped the car off on Tuesday Morning on my way into work and took the mechanic out in the car and he could hear the noise straight away so I left the car with him and went on my way to work. I got a call at about 1300 to say that they could hear the noise but they couldn't find the fault due to the noise of the exhaust and they couldn't run the car on the ramp as they were not equipt to run the car on the ramp. His advice was to let it develop and bring the car back in when the noise is worse. I had also asked him if he would change the headlight wiper motors as I had got a pair off a breaking car on Ebay and they were guaranteed. He more or less told me that fitting the motor would be a waste of money and that he wasn't going to fit them. I picked up the car later that afternoon and took it straight round to VolvoMax. I had heard it was hard to get a hold of them on the phone so I thought I would just go over and speak to them, plus it wasn't too much further out from where I was. When I got to VolvoMax I spoke to the gentleman in the reception area and he was really helpful booked the car in for the following day and took the car a quick run and told me it was either the f/o/s wheel bearing or the CV joint. I dropped the car off on Wednesday morning and they gave me a run to the nearest train station (Shettleston) which took me straight into Glasgow Queen Street Ideal for my work in Royal Exchange Sqr. They called me at 1200 to tell me that it was the o/s/f wheel bearing and how much it was going to be to fit it. I agreed for them to go ahead with the work and when I finished work I went out and picked the car up at about 1600. The guy in reception told me it was one of the worst that they had seen and that it had came off in two parts. Straight away I though how come the other garage couldn't notice it ( I had done a max of 15/20 miles since the first garage had looked at it). I also had forgotten to mention the headlight wipes but they said they would happily fit these for me next time the car is in. I would highly recommend VolvoMax and as for the other garage....the car will NEVER be back in there. Ok so I went on a bit there but I wanted to share this with anyone looking for a garage in Glasgow.
