Here it is an auto little train. It feels heavier than an S70 model but estate is what I was after anyway.Needs tax,mot and some mechanical work.Only 1 pic for now.Silver wheels don`t look nice so I`ll be painting them in near black or send them to MPR lol.The car has never been modified apart from a cat back exhaust and a boost gauge.Right now I`m over the moon with the purchase a massive thanx to PHIL V70R and frankie.
loos very mate well done guys so wots your plans then mate mod or keep bog standard
Thanx mate. 1. make sure she`s reliable on the road and service 2.start from light mods first like rip kit, possibly decat. 3.get the alloys resprayed to make her look nicer. I wanna get about 280bhp tops for now and looking for an LPG or HHO.She`s not going to b a track car but as it goes and might have a manual convertion for now with my back auto is a Godsend.
Keep it standard, Or add another oil cooler in to protect the Gearbox before modding
So yrs gonna look special between 2 brown on a photo session one Gav:wink:

Looks good mate. The wheels deffo need to go darker. Nice to still see some around that havent been modded.

Post 559887 by T5frankie on 2013-01-06 22:08:26

with an auto just map it and it will go great and be near the 280 you want it has an exhaust already, just make it the mintest you can

Post 559894 by smithson007 on 2013-01-06 22:15:36

I have a Rica mapped ECU sitting here mate if your looking to buy one and its from an auto.
Keep it standard, Or add another oil cooler in to protect the Gearbox before modding
Didn`t know that,cheers Gav
with an auto just map it and it will go great and be near the 280 you want it has an exhaust already, just make it the mintest you can
I`ll have to wait for map a bit, have to save up.Lets see whats the power on a dyno when we meet up with light mods 1st.Rip kit, induction kit, poss 255 wallbro. PHIL its too hard to resist not modding.I won`t be abusing it but good to have the power when u need it.

Post 559902 by smithson007 on 2013-01-06 22:21:22
How much mate?
Ill be honest mate ive no idea at all what theyre worth. Its a good map. I had it on my S70R and it could fairly shift.
Ill be honest mate ive no idea at all what theyre worth. Its a good map. I had it on my S70R and it could fairly shift.
Is it 280 or 310?

Post 559907 by smithson007 on 2013-01-06 22:31:12
Is it 280 or 310?
As far as i know mate its a 310 but it was on the car when i got it so im afraid i have no proof that i could show you.

Post 559908 by merc85 on 2013-01-06 22:35:45

I thought the autos ran a 280 and manuals 310 ?

Post 559909 by smithson007 on 2013-01-06 22:38:37
I thought the autos ran a 280 and manuals 310 ?
Ill be honest mate im confused with the Rica's. Im not sure which is for what. Im sure you used to be able to get 330's too but im hoping somebody will be able to tell me what the crack is.

Post 559910 by p fandango on 2013-01-06 22:41:06

304 runs a slightly higher boost level & has to be ran on hi-octane to get the full potential out of in. 280 can be ran on anything believe there was a difference between manual & auto to save the torque converter, but sure they did the 304 for both

Post 559911 by Kingsford G on 2013-01-06 22:41:20
I thought the autos ran a 280 and manuals 310 ?
280 for normal fuel 310 for super unleaded as far as I know but with autos I don`t know myself tbh.Yr ecu is from auto isn`t it Gav?

Post 559912 by merc85 on 2013-01-06 22:41:56
Ill be honest mate im confused with the Rica's. Im not sure which is for what. Im sure you used to be able to get 330's too but im hoping somebody will be able to tell me what the crack is.
its all hype on the names anyhow just thought 280's where for auto's and the others for manuals

Post 559913 by smithson007 on 2013-01-06 22:43:50

Could be a 304 then if thats the case beacuse i know i had to run it on v-power all the time same as the one on my V70R now.

Post 559914 by LiamT4 on 2013-01-06 22:48:20

Think the 310 is for the 18t and 304 is for the 16t

Post 559916 by Kingsford G on 2013-01-06 22:52:07
Think the 310 is for the 18t and 304 is for the 16t
Possible as my 310 was on 18t but if thats an auto ecu it should be the right one for 16t
Haha, sorry dude :) Ask away mate...
For preparation where the curb marks r do u fill them in and rub down or just rub down, how many layers of paint and clear cote, etc.?

Post 559935 by M-R-P on 2013-01-06 23:40:43

Ok... The short version... 1. If any mangled alloy is sticking - out from the wheel, cut or file it down. 2. Clean the area with something like thinners or petrol. 3. Using good quality body filler, fill the damage and smooth it of with a wet finger. 4. While the filler dries, mask the wheel, right up to about 5mm from the damage. 5. Sand the filler smooth and fill/sand again if needed. 6. Primer on the repair. 7. Peel the masking tape back 5mm and wet and dry the edge of the primer, leveling it. 8. 2 or 3 layers of paint and allow to dry for an hour or so. 9. Peel masking tape back some more and wet and dry it to smooth the edges. 10. Flash it over with clear coat and allow to dry. 11. Remove all tape, use 2000gr wet and dry to flat the repair and buff with T-cut scratch remover. Think that covers it :D
for the last time ITS A C70 GRILL they didnt make a phase 1 xc70 from 2000-2003 its got blue on it hence its a ford aged c70 grill, i have an xc70 grill its all black with no blue on it
Sorry Frankie, that IS an xc grille. I pulled it from a 1997 cx70. This is the second grille I've pulled from an xc. And before there's any speculation over weather of not the grille may have been swapped from a c70, the c70 grille has 32 gaps in the egg crate, the xc grille has 21 and a fine mesh behind the grille to protect the intercooler.

Sweet. I'm gonna be up rating my shoes cable & discs soon. My calipers are red but I'm thinking of a subtle theme with mine.

KG's grille is a xc grill from a 1997 XC70. I know that because I pulled it from the car myself. That's the 2nd one I've pulled from a P1 XC70, both had blue on the badges. The one in the link is deffo a C70 grille. The true way to tell is the number of gaps... The XC grille has 21 gaps (and a fine, secondary mesh), the C70 has 32. The blue thing may signify ME7, not sure tho.

So the grille with 21 gaps and a bit of blue on the badge is the 2003> c70 version. 21 gaps and all black is the 2000> xc70. 32 gaps and a bit of blue is the 1997-2000 xc70 ..........possibly

Ok, after looking about on tinter-web - C70s also have 21 gap grilles - I stand corrected but the blue badge thing still stands. Here's the XC grille I removed from a 1998 XC70 and sold to foamman... Image Image Image Any way, off topic ;) Back to KG's lovely car...:D
