Whilst driving in his Fiesta tonight, my brother heard a clunk/bang from the front n/s of the car, he got it home, but it was making a "crunching" (his words not mine) noise when he turned. He's thinking the coil spring has snapped, but I'm thinking drop link, any ideas from you people in the know?
Stupid question but it's not ice breaking off under the car is it?
Not often you hear of a spring breaking.

Lesson learned - Metal Fatigue.

In which case replace both and I'd be doing the struts and strut bearnings at the same time. The chances are if the spring is that knackered then so are the other bits it connects to.
I know of a Renault that had a broken front spring which when the spring broke it took out the tyre at the same time !.
I broke a spring in the old V40 I didn't even notice lol
BMW Z4s break them all the time.
