Well, picked her up today, Nice having a car that starts for a change, She has a few issues which i can sort easily.
Abs Light (poss pump)
Turbo Return seal
Grey Smoke on boost (Cat broken up inside) plugs not fouled
Pcv in desperate need
Damaged Drivers door around lock(some scumbag tried to break in)
Interior Mint, Columbas wheels mint. Drives very quiet and nice positive steering so much better than my Red one as it was to light.
Engine feels very fit and the car came with a Ecu for a Manual T5r Mileage 137k with history upto 123k Clutch and rear main done at 80k (bill to prove)
I'm going to sort the issue of the cat and oil leak, ive replaced the maf also, Pcv will also be done asap. Then drive her and make sure she's all good for tuning.
Finger's crossed, she looks to be in good shape alround, Here a pic after i got her back to my Unit

All the car has done for since 2011 is potter around cambridge, 1st time i booted it the smoke poored out but then got less and less on the drive home aprox 80 miles, fingers crossed a good service deleting the cat and pcv will sort it. even got 32.9mpg on they way back to :)

I know how bad u feel but at least u have a good replacement to ease it up so some of the RED will still live in the black.Looking at pics of the blacky the body looks in a good nick so must b very shiny and nice after 2 polishes.

Post 568259 by merc85 on 2013-01-31 22:13:32
Well after a good scrub up, to coats of polish with a light cut, then a wax Big Rotch gave me his old spoiler for the tailgate, so that was fitted tonight.
Also got the Comets on, although she is still riding high and needs lowering. also 302's to be fitted very soon but Pcv is a must as she is breathing smoke through the turbo on hard boost, although no where near as bad as it was.
A busy wkend ahead by the looks of it.

Well managed to sort the boost issue out, lol just shows its bin a while since i first started tuning these cars here i was over complicating things thinking it was a boost leak etc etc getting all wound up.
The Red car as certainly knocked my confidence , anyway turned out the actuator needed a heck of a lot of adjusting, 3 complete turns in and she boost 17psi. TFFT lol
Next jobs oil and filter change along with the sorting of the turbo return leak. get the suspension changed over then exhaust turbo and intercooler lol
Shes now sporting v70 instrument cluster to :)

Tbh Black is just as a pain in the ass to keep clean as Red lol, either or mate, The black 855 is nearly as clean as my Red one was. when i get this door it will be very close, After some detailing and the R Bumper on her she is going to awesome. I'm thinking Volans for the the wheels tbh or Titans as you say the comets dont look as good,
May even take the Mint titans off the gull and put them on the Black car. And put the comets on the gul Doesnt really matter seeing as that is not being used.

Well spent alot of time this afternoon transfering more bits n pieces over from the red car to blacky,
She's now running the 18t with a 3" angled Downpipe/de cat, along with the me7 manifold. Coupled with my auto map runing the BCS she boosts 20 psi in the last two gears.
Driving very very nice, Got to fit the 3" stainless Rear section of exhaust next and polly bush her since its abit of a hand full atm lol. Also the R bumper should be getting painted v soon and fitted.

Come on then jim whats the slight twist
Post 574598 by Jamest5r on 2013-02-16 23:42:45
Its not a direct fit the feed pipe needs twisting 90 but it dont kink, this is because of the baffles in the tank they run at the wrong angle for the pick up filter.

Just a update, Blacky wont start now since the engine has bin fitted, Ive had it scoped Cam and crank sensors all fine, She has no power to the coil/module, no power at the injectors but fuel in the rail. Have tried a trigger wire to coil but no luck.
Could be imobiliser, not sure. Car will be broken soon and im thinking about buying my friends half of the Gul or leaving the Volvo world altogether. :(

I know you've probably checked, but what about the relay and contacts above the radiator.
Post 582612 by nottsgreent5 on 2013-03-09 21:54:40
Sure some where on the net ive read about crank sensors not being compatable with later fly wheels somthing to do with voltage polarity only ask as this is a converted auto engine isnt it more than likley barking up the wrong tree lol
Post 582621 by smithy on 2013-03-09 22:11:58
The car was running fine before you changed the engine so it's ether a sensor or something mechanical with the engine .just working on process of i limitation mate.or even an earth no contacted properly .

Post 582638 by Kingsford G on 2013-03-09 22:32:22
Predicting this I voted for just the head swap cos the original engine was good as it is.I`m sure there is something either not compatible or not connected.
Post 582639 by HowHard on 2013-03-09 22:34:47
omg, I've been on and off here lately but been 'preying' for you m8. Some real bad luck you've got m8 but as people have said, must be something on the engine and you've put a lot into it. DON'T QUIT NOW!!! :) Be worth it in the end and you'll more than likely be pleasantly surprised. Hopefully sooner rather than later m8.
I feel for you m8, all the best!
Post 582641 by merc85 on 2013-03-09 22:45:24
thanks for all the ideas, I wasnt completely happy with the previous lump it breathed to heavy for my liking, The cam sensor plate can only go on one way, same for the rotor arm plate. so it aint those. All the earths are attached. Even took a jump lead from the neg on the battery to the lump m and the body no differenceso it aint a earth.
Post 583183 by nobananas on 2013-03-11 16:27:23
Those are the exact same symptoms I had when my T5 broke down in the lakes a few years ago !. After hours of searching it was broken wiring going into the large relay clipped under the front radiator plastic panel. The wiring was bent back on itself and two wires had rotted through where they join inside the connector block. I'm thinking that with all the movement of changing the engine they could perhaps have broken on yours ?
Post 584997 by merc85 on 2013-03-16 20:06:47
Well, decided to start to take her apart to drop the engine out, took the inlet manifold off, and.......... found the issue, or should it be tissue!
Yeah what can i say another ive been a complete idiot, i can only put it down to trying to put her back together to quick and working on her 24 7 and so much going on with runing my business. Before i took the tissue out cylinder's 1-4 hand very low compression, this was due to the tissue keeping the valves from shutting.
I took all the tissue etc out (well most of what was left) built her back up and turned the key! Cant believe she fired up, The NON spark issue btw was down to her having a obd 1 flywheel!
So you guys have all bin warned a obd1 flywheel fitted into a obd2 car will cause a NON start fault! You have to reverse the polarity ie, swap the crankshaft senser pins around and hey presto.
She has a boost problem probably down to a foweld plug or possibly turbo, i dont really know all i know it seems to be getting slightly better, its like shes hitting boost cut. The ignition leads were knackered and the plugs so these will be replaced Monday, also i think the fuel pump is struggling to keep up to. Only time will tell.
Im just glad she is up and runing and when boosting she is very brisk, So i will hopefully not be breaking her atm. One idiotic mistake made by myself, i have certainly lernt my lesson. :(
Here are some pics of her today after a short test drive

Glad it's sorted Gav, even if you have been a plank. ;) Oblark and I were talking about it earlier, and he mentioned the flywheel was probably wrong. Now, do you want to think about the fact you broke your perfectly good red 850 because of the wrong flywheel? Probably best not to.
Post 585044 by merc85 on 2013-03-16 20:59:36
The red car was obd 1 mate, it was a damaged loom as i said before,

Thanks Neal, really pleased she going again, hopefully sort the niggling boost issue out, it seems to be getting a little better to, May be the ecu adapting to the fueling and head, obviously there also must be some tissue still in there somewhere to lol
Had the Red car lifted and weighed in today, got £140 for her too.

My car is the dark blue, and i cant decide between the all black or chrome surround black blocks- have fitted both but cant decide !
