Looks lovley what did you use on the plastics
Post 570928 by martybelfastt5 on 2013-02-07 21:28:21
pete this stuff here

to be honest probably would do it different next time use a sponge and thin this stuff down its very thick if you use a brush go over with a sponge straight after massage it in takes few coats on the bumpers but drys out exellent all greys the exact same colour looks great its sat for a year still looks great apparently this stuff is the best

had a good fiddle with the radio last night and really confused as the ignition live was down/wrong lol found ignition live and the radio wasnt connected to it lol...had this head unit in and worked perfectly before with no issues..but have put it down to whoever wired it originally as they have just cut in and joined wires/piggybacked off the loom so taiknig it all out repairing heat shrinking it all and have orederd the proper conversion leads put it in right and have done with it .

Things have probley changed but many years ago we had a bad luk clutch for a 240 weather they were a bad batch I dont know but after 2 luk clutches only the sachs solved the problem ever since ive used sachs as I said its a personal opinion but these days every item like u said seem to be made by the same companys just branded different

Clutch orderd today with jammie over at pfv New kit with release bearing s40 t5 one piece manifold gasket and turbo to manifold gasket also orders up cat back with Graeme and soon as it all is here car is going to have all fitted Inc an m59
On the subject of the clutch these seem to be getting quite hard to source must be a sign of the 850 ageing lol does an s70R run the same kit as the 850R?
Post 690116 by JT on 2014-02-18 20:20:02

thats why I questioned it, but wouldnt want to over rule someone in the know!:)
the gasket looks more like it goes between the turbo and manifold, not the downpipe???
Post 690137 by martybelfastt5 on 2014-02-18 21:39:37
makes sense......................il stop talking now:uglyhamme
but even checking it there on the s60R manifold im not sure but my volvo man will have the last say

I dont use a gasket for either option:)
Post 690155 by p fandango on 2014-02-18 22:34:42
yes that gasket goes between the manifold & the turbo. You do know the coolant pipes will need "adjusting" to fit as the they are in a slightly different place on me7 cars compared to 850's
Post 690171 by martybelfastt5 on 2014-02-18 23:36:03
yes aware of this pedro ........must check the turbo think it came with some lines but should be too hard to sort
Post 690178 by siamblue on 2014-02-19 00:22:09
My KKK24 came with a gasket too manifold but all of my TD series did not.so maybe it has something to do with the exh manifold?
Post 690243 by partsforvolvos.com on 2014-02-19 13:57:54
hi martin, yes I did get it for the manifold to turbo connection where it should be fine. sorry if I had a confused moment?
Post 690245 by partsforvolvos.com on 2014-02-19 13:58:58
there is a downpipe gasket listed as well, do you need it, or are you doing something bespoke

Very nice I must admit im itching for a set of pegs just don't know weather to keep the titans so looks original spec of go for pags
Post 715713 by martybelfastt5 on 2014-05-30 23:27:18
that the reason i wanted pegs closest thing to titans
Post 715754 by AndysR on 2014-05-31 10:01:50
Why are you swapping from the Titans, was it for bigger wheels?
Post 715800 by martybelfastt5 on 2014-05-31 11:44:30
mate have the stuff to put the brembos front and back would have liked 17s in the pegs but 18s will suffice.........they will also be refurbed in anthricite/grey just hoping i get away with the 40 profile tyres as the conti sports are as good as new on them might need to drop to 35 tho as it wont be a daily drive i dont mind sacrificing a bit of comfort as some of the 850s on 18s ive researced look awsome
Post 720588 by martybelfastt5 on 2014-06-23 21:54:50
ok so my new pegs are off to be rufurbed in anthricite so il get pics when they are back there has bee a slight hic up with the exhaust system but being sorted by grea and should have car back for weekend also the wheels too

Post 720634 by Wobbly Dave on 2014-06-24 00:11:03
I spent many years on a DA before moving to a rotary. Need to use lots of lube & not press to hard or run too fast. I spread on the lowest speed & do 1 or 2 passes on each.
Buy some 3M tape & tape up your edges.
Unlike the DA method where you might go fwd & back in overlapping straight lines - I tend to sweep back and forth, raising & lowering my back hand, much like a floor polisher (if you've ever used one) - so that the top & bottom edge of the pad moves the head for you.
prep the pad before you start with some dilute QD. I spritz the pad & run it slow speed against my hand.
Between passes I spritz the area being worked with the dilute QD (1 in 10 is plenty).

Wheels looks lovely, can't wait to see the wheels and exhaust fitted :)
Post 729823 by martybelfastt5 on 2014-08-15 20:35:48
ok small update on this all parts are fitted as some will know i have a gearbox /clutch noise when pedal released
the wheels are on and rubbing the inner arches slighty:doh:
the exhaust has been a pure pain in the ass but is on and quiet ect this is down to the downpipe to cat back join pieces they are belled out and i cant find a clip to suit for the life of me have spent maybe 80 quid on ones ive binned or cut up to try and resolve it temporarily i have done so successfully today
had to put on two 5 mil spacers on the rear was rubbing ever so slighty now not
cleaned the headcloth made an inpressive difference
the wheel alignment needs set as do the headlights then a brake fluid change then it will be motd
now to the bad bit the car has been fustrating me so much i think ive had enough and may well sell the car when its motd im by no means turning my back on volvo but think im done with the 850 sad day could change my mind but at this minute in time dont see that happening
on performance it dosent feel as quick to me as it should i will investagate this before i sell a picture of how she sits below including the melting exhaust joint i cant sort
once motd ect il get some proper pictures of her up but they may well be the pictures of her for sale ad
Post 749780 by martybelfastt5 on 2014-11-27 17:38:25
as for brakes i want these i gloss black like pictured i have the renault bracket for the front if they can be alterd for these they will failing that il sell them and buy cjs brackets of volospeed...on another not some one on volvospeed just fitted there 850 with boxster brakes all round looks awsome!
front
rear

Post 749787 by RollingThunder on 2014-11-27 18:35:49
Looking great Martin, thats a fine 850 :) Have you thought about painting the trim rather than treating it with Wurths? I reckon it'd look smart, a bit S70ish yes, but still smart.
Post 749788 by martybelfastt5 on 2014-11-27 18:40:52
thanks pal wouldnt even consider colour coding it to be honest andys car is a good example of how it can look good but love the 850 how the trim breaks the colour and matches the wheels on a t5r
Post 749789 by RollingThunder on 2014-11-27 18:51:26
Yep, Andy's car is a peach. Got to love the classic appeal of the std car too though.
