Post 573741 by V70 Graham on 2013-02-15 16:33:26
Well done, nice find and should clean up well, centre console and leather interior you should be able to pick up at a scrappy fairly cheaply.

It needs leather, the interior lets it down tbh. There's a few full interiors on ebay you prob don't know but will an earlier pre04 interior fit and will the plugs be there for electric heated seats do you think?

Your dead right there, I'm sure when M-R-P sees this he'll answer your questions, he's the ex-plod P2 Guy lol
Post 573794 by Kingsford G on 2013-02-15 17:21:47
Nice.2.4 t5 remapped I believe jumps over 300bhp with k24 turbo.U can get leather seats for £100 max
Post 573807 by danny-R on 2013-02-15 17:34:59
I'm already on the lookout for an interior but not too sure if the plugs will be the same from an earlier p2.
I've just been out hopping about with hoover getting all the dog hair out of the boot, will tackle the rest of the inside and give it a good clean tomorrow.
Post 573815 by Kingsford G on 2013-02-15 17:38:21
U have a new toy looking to yr right foot now lol
Post 573818 by danny-R on 2013-02-15 17:41:33
Just a shame i can't drive it lol. I was getting excellent quotes from CK for an 850 but the cheapest I've been quoted on this is 900 tpft.
Post 573837 by M-R-P on 2013-02-15 18:09:38
Older, pre-04 seats won't work, unless you want to do some splicing with the airbag wires. They use a different plug.
I paid 55 quid for my interior so be patient and wait for the right one to come along.
Stick standard shocks on the back to bring it down a bit. You'll need to ditch nivomats before you lower it any way. (I got 130 quid for mo old springs and nivomats with 197k on them) that'll help pay for mods.
Any help you need mate, I'm always around somewhere ;)

So I will need springs and rear shocks to lower it, can they be from an earlier p2? I have a feeling you will be getting a million and one questions from me lol
so i apologize in advance :)

These P2's are in a total different leauge to my previous 850's, so quiet and smooth. I could happily drive long distance in it. I was a passenger in it today on the way home and the driver gave it a bit to me it looked like it was doing 100 in 3rd. (down my private driveway of course) ;0)

I'm sorry, but i will be reminding you untill its been done............and i doubt i'll be the only one lol
Think a 2.4t5 will probably be my next volvo, but quite like an s40 t5 with the r-design stuff on it.
Post 573918 by danny-R on 2013-02-15 20:04:05
I can't really recommend it yet as i've not had chance to drive it but on paper the 2.4 makes sense ;)
I'll just have to remain from uploading pics untill it's lowered lol
Post 575049 by danny-R on 2013-02-18 12:15:28
Right I'm sat in the car giving it a clean I've lifted the front mats and the carpet is wet.
There's more on the drivers side than passenger. Does that normally mean the heater matrix is goosed?
Post 575058 by MRTREE on 2013-02-18 12:47:17

He had the wrong number on the advert and no exaggeration I must have emailed atleast 20 times, he evn dropped the price from 1400 as he thought nobody was interested. Numpty ;) I seen one go for 1100 the week before last aswell that looked decent same year.
As for the heaters working I never checked they blew hot on the drive home but the aircon works. I'm looking at least a month before I can go out in it and check.

I've just sat in it, had it up to temperature and the heaters were blowing hot (ish). Not as hot as I think they should be. If the heater matrix was leaking would they blow hot at all?
Cheers

They would blow warmish as its coming from the engine bay but if its not hot then it seems to be the matrix
Post 575109 by danny-R on 2013-02-18 15:14:47
I'm not too sure tbh my old 850's used to blow hot air in minutes and this wasn't blowing as hot but it was just at idle and might get hotter on a run so I suppose it will have to wait and see for now, if it's a dash out job i'll do it the same time as the interior (when i find one).
Right now i'm going to shop about for a lambda to get the light off

Extremely bored so I've been attacking the car with a bottle of tar and glue remover and wheel acid. Just doing one wheel and panel at a time as its a nightmare hopping about here's a little before and after
Quick coat of super resin after the tar and glue remover and I'm pleased with the results. Will have to do till leet5r machine polishes it for me

You would have been better investing in some tardis and ironx for the decontaminating you really would have seen both products working on the white car and you wouldn't have the pain you do in your arms ;)

I had it looked over before I bought it, and my mate drove it home. He said it drives straight etc and the brakes are sharp so other than the lambda fault I can't see it failing on anything other than emissions but Fingers crossed anyway

I'm getting ready to set off for Mot, it's not till 12.30 but it's the first time I've drove in 2 months and it's about 20 miles away lol so it might take me a while

Other than that I find there are plenty of persons of indigenous poulations that will do favours for small change round here.
Congrats on the piece of A4 paper, great result!

I'm back home now, it's been great driving after such a long time. I have done over 60 miles and averaged 32mpg driving like a saint though.
I had reset the codes using the Torque app and the eml has stayed off, also using the torque app I checked what it would boost to and does 12psi in 3rd sound about right? Overall I'm actually buzzing to be back in a volvo :) Cheers guys

Been out in the Volvo today and it was running extra lumpy when I first started it so I read the codes and it looks like I have maf issues aswell as lambda sensor. Will have to wait till I get home to check what the bottom one is. Only a few more weeks to go then I can get back to work and get it sorted.
Post 595142 by M-R-P on 2013-04-10 15:11:09
P0027 is exhaust VVT valve mate :(
The maf fault could be a loose air pipe either side of the turbo - check the jubilee clips.
2231 looks like knackered lambda wiring.

Since I don't have much money to spend on the Volvo at the minute I'm just sorting little bits and bobs that are free/don't cost much.
I removed the sound deadening from under the bonnet and looked all over for an cone filter, thought I had one lying about somewhere.
Tonight's mission is have a go at fixing both of my flick keys as they don't flick anymore, found his video on youpube

Just noticed this reply. I think I'll have to keep the standard box incase it ever goes back to standard and tbh I'm not sure if they're the same on the facelift ones. I had a go at fitting a cone today inside the bottom half of the box and it wouldn't fit so will have another go when I get A bit of 3inch ish pipe to make it fit lol.
Been up to see leet5r today and he noticed a pipe was off after the maf sensor which explains the maf fault code. Reset the codes and the Eml stayed off for ages but came back on after I restarted the car so my 02 sensor is definitely goosed. That can wait till I do the exhaust as it looks a right pita to get to

Bit of an update, I'm slowly getting back on my feet (literally) so can start spending a few quid on the volvo. I've done an oil and filter change on her today and ordered a set of non nivomat shocks that will hopefully drop the back end down a little.
anybody need a set of nivomats lol?
Next on the list is a maf meter and lambda sensor and then to start squeezing more power from her :)
Whilst I'm here does anybody know where the fuse will be for my cigarette lighters?
cheers

Standard shocks have arrived, will try and get them fitted today and report back. I hope the back end drops a bit by ditching the nivomats

With the 35mm springs and OE shocks, mine dropped by about 70-75mm! You should do fine.
It'll be a bit boaty with the Niv spec springs tho.

I only plan to leave the niv springs on until I sell my shocks and buy lowering springs. It already feels like the qe2 after driving Lee's 850r the other day

Nice to see things taking shape mate.
BTW - the fuse for the fag lighter is in the fuse box on the end of the dash (drivers side).
Rear (boot) 12V outlet fuse is in the fuseboard behind the n/s boot panel :D

Post 615567 by M-R-P on 2013-06-11 16:28:43
I think PFV sell those - don't know how much they are tho.
It depends what you want to do with them. I believe they're a bit soft (from the few comments I've seen/heard)
My Apex springs were supposed to be 30mm but it dropped a lot more than that and I now struggle getting over speed bumps and onto driveways. Might be better with 18" wheels tho.

Post 615577 by M-R-P on 2013-06-11 17:08:46
Yeah, that just means you can't use them with nivomat shocks as the shocks will jack the car up to where it was before - as I found out :(

Post 618513 by M-R-P on 2013-06-20 23:33:47
Hope the inner CV hasn't popped out mate, almost impossible to sort.
Something that cropps up a lot... If you're faffing about with the front suspension on a P2, take the hub bolt out and keep pushing the driveshaft back into the gearbox or the inner CV falls apart :(
Post 618514 by danny-R on 2013-06-20 23:35:06
Nightmare. Will it not just slot back in?
Post 618516 by M-R-P on 2013-06-20 23:38:20
Nope, it'll need rebuilding :(
I had hoped you'd seen some of the P2 threads where people either do what you did and regretted it or where people have pushed the driveshaft in and mentioned it in their threads.
Sorry dude, you have a right ball-ache ahead.:bricks:

Not had chance to have a go at it will have a bash after work. I doubt very much I'll be able to do it with my limited mechanical knowledge and very short temper lol I'll prob just end up replacing it. Would it have to be from a 6 speed box like mine?

There's a thread where a few of us have shared our experiences on the subject, It's been about recently too.
Basically you need to feed the spring compressor up inside the middle of the spring and jack the hub down to get it all out - it's a pig and those springs are BIG mate, and the hole it has to go through isn't very big.
Post 618617 by danny-R on 2013-06-21 14:49:36
It's a bit of a ball ache this compared to the front how do you jack the hubs down lol
Post 618620 by M-R-P on 2013-06-21 15:09:38
Personally, I undid the trailing arm but that seems to screw with the rear tracking a bit. I also snapped a bolt which took 2 hours to remove :(
Try this it's the thread I was on about.

2 months since I updated this thread. Basically the thing hasnt moved for that long the tyres have gone flat.
just sent the mrs out to take a pic of it looking sorry for itself.
it needs quite a few bits doing to get it back to a decent standard as soon as I get home it will be getting.
2 new tyres
Window regulator fixed. Dunno if you can see in the pic but its held up with paper.
ever so slight oil leak needs looking at. Hence the card board underneath.
I do have a set of discs and volvo pads and arb links sat there that need fitting.
So basically a days work and couple of hundred quid then I will see about getting it mapped and an exhaust fitted. Hopefully graeme will be back on his feet soon lol
Not a bad idea that. Would give it a go but don't know the difference between in and out lol
You make the actuator rod shorter to put more tention on the actuator spring .undo the nut and take the actuator arm off the wastgate .

Just fitted my cat back system and I must say graeme has done a cracking job on it. Only this is because its made for an s60 its about 6 inches too short. The short drive home from having it fitted I was grinning from ear to ear it sounds awesome I just wish I could have had ot fitted earlier today when I was going round silverstone.

It's not lee's 850r which is a shame. Basically im swapping mine for a bm 325ci for the mrs then part exing her diseasle for an olive 850 with r bumper and bilsteins and a few other bits

Don't get a ghastly green bogey one!!! I'd rather have the explod
Post 645659 by danny-R on 2013-09-20 22:03:17
The explod is faster than the olive. I showed him the volvos rear end the other day. Its running a rica 280 and mbc. He stayed side by side till top end of 3rd then I pulled away in 4th. On my private drag strip of course.
Don't get me wrong id love lees red 850 but its not meant to be. Plus the olive will remind me of my yoof :)
