Of course :)

this could be a very good upgrade especially when it comes to motorway driving,i reckon its gonna save a few quid on petrol with an extra gear, how long before your driving it?? be good to know the results ;)

M56H is 0.70:1, the Volvo M66 also has a 0.70:1. Whats the FDR on the Crocus box?
Post 585439 by p fandango on 2013-03-17 17:56:13
& according to HERE the Crocus is also 0.70:1 with a 4.0 FDR, exactly the same as 5th on the T-5

Glad it's fitted up O.K. mate.

2009, seems longer ago than that lol. My mistake about the 4.00 FDR, i was looking at the M66W (which does have the 0.65:1 on 6th)

Dont quote me on this but think someone told me a while ago later v70/s60 fitted with the six spees boxes linkage will fit the 850 shift assembly

I'm pretty gutted now, I had a complete ST which had been vandal damaged, I wanted the 18s and seats, looked into the gearbox fitting and was told it wouldn't fit, scrapped the whole car :(

i'm not convinced he's got his numbers right, the Volvo ratios he's quoting are for the M66W yet with the FDR of the M66. He also says the F*rd box has 4.00 FDR

M66 (S60R AWD)

I have an M66 T5 fitted and working with mine now, Tim Williams did it all for me but he did have to make a custom linkage to make it work correctly!

The TDi 5cog I've got does 203mph@6500rpm
Post 585683 by Brett855tdi on 2013-03-18 20:20:37
I bet the d5 box would be good for mpg, but i also guess it would be too long for a t5.
I take it the M66w and M66D are the same box just different ratios, and the d5 box would fit?
what cars were the M66w fitted to?

I love the 6 speed box in my v50 t5 same as the focus 70 mph = 2400 rpm so better mpg, plus when you have had 6 gears going back to a 5 is like going back to a 4 your always looking for the extra gear that's not there!
Post 590933 by claymore on 2013-03-31 20:26:20
What's different about the rear mount?
Post 590947 by oblark on 2013-03-31 20:40:46
The M56 will not fit on the M66 box, and the M66 mount will not fit under the turbo

How are you going to get around the reverse gate problem?

What reverse gate problem ?
Post 591036 by Wobbly Dave on 2013-03-31 21:48:41
To engage the reverse gear (up & far left) on the 6 speed manual you have to push the lever down before you can get it. It sits adjacent to 1st.
That gate protection is on the stick/selector AFAIK. Without it I am fairly sure you can select reverse whilst moving forward (unlikely) or more likely select reverse, when setting off.

On the box I`ve got reverse is over by 5th and 6th
1 3 5
2 4 6 R
Post 591049 by Wobbly Dave on 2013-03-31 21:56:30
Must be different to the one on my diesel s40 then. I thought they were all
R 1 3 5
_ 2 4 6
not that I was trying to throw a spanner in the works, just more of a heads up.
Post 591252 by stribo on 2013-04-01 00:25:35
The R has the same layout as Rob's, i.e. with reverse next to 6th
Post 591333 by lance on 2013-04-01 10:10:36
Yeah the 2.0d and t5 use a different pattern

Made the most of the weather on Saturday and knocked up the rear engine/gearbox mount
The next job will be to make a new downpipe :)

The brass bush kit for the Toyota MR2 is a direct fit if anybody's looking to replace their bushes (a good idea when fitting the short-shift kit)

Where's the short shift kit available from?

I think IPD do one. There may be one or two of mine floating about somewhere but I don't have any.
