hi ive not been on here for a while work and wife has taken over things ive heard that the N/A cam shafts are a slight modification to the T5 engine is this true what would i gain running the standard turbo bare in mind that i want to take off the injection system and run bike carbs just to be different but this sometime in the future the ive attached pictures before and after of the work so far mostly cosmetic i'm saving up for a new head set any comment welcomed

I can't see what you would gain changing to carbs, in fact I can only see them being a massive backward step.

Love the paint colour, however as Claymore say's running bike carbs?? different yes but a nightmare to run an unbalanced 5 pot.

Same here, love that you are trying something different but it's going to be seriously difficult running bike carbs with a turbo blowing through them, or were you thinking of using them solely as throttle bodies ?

A huge backwards step and totally pointless. Would be a nightmare to get the fuelling correct for boost too.

Running with throttle bodies (or bike carbs converted to throttle bodies) tends to be more beneficial to normally asperated vehicles where you can experiment with different length trumpets and pulse tuning, difficult things to make use of on forced induction. Maybe designing and building your own one off plenum/inlet manifold would be a worth while compromise.
No, OP can't make a new Plenum to be different, already been done :) Image
new inlet sounds alot easier than tying to the throttle bodies/carbs then ill have to come up with a design is that plenum all aluminum nice work and the welding looks good to i know hard it can be to weld aluminum thanks for the idea

while i think on does anyone have a manual flywheel and clutch they have for sale i dont care if the clutch is used as i can use it to mock up thanks in advance

Yep, I've got a set lying here doing nothing.
Yep, I've got a set lying here doing nothing.
How much can u post them to stockport if not I'll try and have them picked up

ive been looking at a design of my inlet manifold im going to make the tubes with a 90 bend and a square or round manifold on top something nice and simple that will look good under the bonnet whats the gains of fitting N/A cam and 960 throttle housing claymore did you think of a price mate

Post 598152 by ebbrell on 2013-04-19 15:18:40

ive seen a wiring loom and engine ecu for a auto 850 t5 my engine is out of a auto but im converting to manual using a mazda rx8 5 speed for the rwd hotrod can i still use this loom and ecu

I have a clutch plate & friction plate from a C70 99 ME7 but I am not sure how similar the clutches are?
Unfortunately I've scrapped the clutch and pressure plate, so the only thing I've got is a flywheel.
how much if your selling it

Post 598320 by claymore on 2013-04-19 19:50:49
how much if your selling it
You can have it, as long as you can arrange pickup.
You can have it, as long as you can arrange pickup.
excellent thanks mate can you give me a rough guide to how big it will be if your packing in a box for the courier they need dimensions for the price and i can book it then
No, OP can't make a new Plenum to be different, already been done :) Image
looks nice but should there not be trumpets inside the plenum to avoid creating turbulance. i looked into custom inlets a few years ago and there not as basic as you think. hope im wrong though

Post 599076 by ebbrell on 2013-04-21 20:31:57

ive been looking at designs on Google a lot of them have trumpets inside pity to cover the trumpets up as i think they look better then a big clump of metal
