Seems Shell have a "new" fuel called Vpower Nitro Plus
http://www.shell.co.uk/gbr/products-services/on-the-road/fuels/vpower/what-is-v-power-nitro-plus.html
Surely a fuel with a name that long will be brilliant and may have to be declared to the insurance company as a modification......in all seriousness anyone tried it and noticed any difference?

And no doubt it will cost 170 pence per litre. I've not seen it here in Wales yet but I look forward to putting it in my moon mileage engine to see if it doesn't just blow it to pieces. :B_thumb: :D

oooh , it's got nitro in the name ! nope - havent seen it round here- we must be too poor to want it.

Sounds like shell is selling terraclean fluid in bulk,if the ad is to go by.
And just a bit deeper pockets.

As an introduction it`ll probably start as a normal V-power price and then go up.I don`t think the price will b worth it for normal road users as minutes make no diff to us where is in F1 micro sec`s mean a victory where it could be of benefit.

its just a new name for the same stuff, optimax, v-power, now this one
Post 597817 by dionbullock on 2013-04-18 17:30:56
I presume it's still 99 octane??? Didnt tesco do a 100+ octane at some point?
Post 597819 by V70 Graham on 2013-04-18 17:37:27
Nope, not round here either yet, I always use V-Power, but lets face it.....39mph is still 39mph :B_thumb:
Post 597823 by T5frankie on 2013-04-18 17:51:59
some bp garages do a 102 octane its around £2.50 a litre lol
Post 597824 by JamesT5 on 2013-04-18 17:52:25
I've been getting 35mpg average on a journey to work and back since I now coast and free wheel as much as I can to save my gearbox from leaving a trail all down the road. It's amazing how much fuel you can save by driving like V70 Graham... ;)

Saw balloons at my Shell, but will now need to stop and investigate...

I actually seen a poster for it out the side of my eye today after I filled up but they didn't have it there

Does this mean my Shell V-Power card is now obsolete? I look forward to having my new 'Nitro' version so I can 'accidentally' flash it around whilst waiting in the que at Aldi! :D :saythat:

They have started selling this at my local Shell, Exactly the same price as Normal V Power, Havent noticed any difference yet.
Post 598952 by no1tosh on 2013-04-21 16:51:24
i filled up with some the other day, i cant comment on performace because i don't race around unless i go baiting for ricers haha. But i have noticed im getting better mpg, only slightly though.
Although for the money i bet your still better off using normal shell if mpg is your thing.
Post 598960 by V70 Graham on 2013-04-21 16:59:06
At the same price it's gotta be worth a go.
Post 598999 by volvokid on 2013-04-21 18:26:02
You dont have much choice Graham. I thought it was going to be another fuel to choose from but its the replacement for vpower, I filled up last night with it.
Post 599003 by theflyingbrick on 2013-04-21 18:35:14

I can use my contacts within Shell to find out exactly what's in it if you're interested?
Post 599607 by V70 Graham on 2013-04-23 10:22:11
It's at my local garage now, same price, only time will tell if there's any difference.
Post 599608 by AndysR on 2013-04-23 10:49:58
I've only ever run mine on Optimax/V-Power so will no doubt be running this when the engines built. Be interesting to see what differences, if any, people notice and in the meantime I think I'll stick a tank in the Polo and see if that makes any difference.
Post 599611 by dionbullock on 2013-04-23 10:59:21
If it's the same price as ordinary Vpower im sure it will sell.
Ive tried to stick to the Vpower after i had my car Rica'd as the guy who did the map mentioned that the Shell vpower fuel and tesco 99 stuff is completely different to each other. one is purpose made 99 octane (shell) and the tesco one is ordinary 95 octane with a load of additives to boost the octane up? With no BP anywhere near me im stuck to choose between Tesco 99, Vpower or texaco super 97...
How true this is, i havent a clue?? But shell are very good at making us pay extra for fuel that might not make a difference unless your car is mapped to run on said fuel!
5th gear did a test on standard cars a few years back :
Look how cheap the fuel was back then!!

I've been using it for a week or so now, I've noticed that I'm getting better MPG,, usually around 38mpg (2.5T) on a run, and when i boot it, it drops to around 32mpg.
I put a tank of Tesco Momentum in to see the difference and it was crap! I went through £30 worth of tesco to 100mile, mixture of driving, max mpg was 35, when i booted it for a few mins it dropped to 24mpg.
So I put Vpower back in and car runs 10x better than it did with the Tesco crap in, so I'll deffo be sticking to Vpower, I won't even use BP because its £1.51 Per Litre which is stupid, v power is 10p cheaper

I tried some last week, did'nt notice any difference but them I am running stock. Put some Momentum in yesterday (half tank) did about 60-70 miles and used nearly 2/3rds of it. Was stuck behind a caravan so it wasn't a spirited drive.
