Bkd ?
Engine code BKD,look in the boot where the spare should be a white sticker with paint code, engine code etc.I had a VW Touran years ago 2.0tdi,turbo failure known on them and slagish in 1st gear then had an alhambra 2.0tdi can`t remember the engine code but that pulled like a petrol.I`ve had VAG`s for near 15 years

I'll have a look, had this from new DSG box and mapped to 190bhp
Post 601203 by merc85 on 2013-04-28 16:54:34
It is BKD, 140bhp in standard form, no worse than any other modern diesel imho
Dont get me started on the Vag subject tho lol

U love vag,I know that.If its mapped to 190 it is 2.0tdi 170 then,if injectors go they r on a recall.BKD is a crap Gav.

BKD's aren't that bad Kingsford there are a few we look after well over 200,000 miles. We don't really have problems with the turbo's themselves either, it's usually the actuators and or earth wiring that is problematic and easily resolved. If the car is under a recall then the injector codes are checked and if within the recall parameters the injectors are renewed along with the small section of wiring loom under the rocker cover for the glow plugs. This is done if required even if it's still running ok, you don't have to wait for it to breakdown to find out ;)
Graham I can check tomorrow to see if yours has either been done or due if you like, I may need the chassis number if the car hasn't been to a dealer with your personal plate on it though?
Car looks good btw, time well spent I'd say
Post 601249 by V70 Graham on 2013-04-28 18:57:56
Interesting, Anne did have to have that piece of wiring replaced late last year.....and she had to pay, the car has been to a dealers with that plate as its been on since I bought the car in 2005, let me know if you need the chassis number and I'll pm you with it.
Post 601252 by AndysR on 2013-04-28 19:03:18
I will check to see for you tomorrow and let you know Graham ;)
I take it the wiring wasn't renewed at a VW dealer? As they should be checking for recalls on every workshop visit, if it was done at a dealer the chances are yours doesn't need the recall work or has already been done.
Post 601253 by Kingsford G on 2013-04-28 19:12:27
DSG boxes need service evety 40k and I'd only do it at dealers tho.I dont think I'd want a manual volvo as a daily after driving my auto.BKD's may not b bad and will do a high mileage Andy but the power delivery not great.I had to rebuild my turbo at 80k.

The wiring was replaced at a VW dealers, strange.....if you could please check for me if appreciate it, ours was running at half power and showing the engine management light, I think they told her 'something must have chewed through the wires' maybe trying to fob her off.....a bad move as you'd know if you've ever met the Mrs lol
Post 601272 by V70 Graham on 2013-04-28 19:41:01

Oh? Chewed through, the wiring done under recall is underneath the rocker cover inside the engine .. Tbh being a 140 it might not be under the recall but I'll soon know ;)

Just a note to say that a, the car doesn't have any kind of recall outstanding and b, has never been affected by the problem which highlighted the need for an injector recall in the first place. So your safe but unfortunatetly it also means the dealer was right to charge you for the recent wiring repairs so no refunds... lol

Right, back to those wheels, and they are looking very sorry for themselves, nearly 8 years of abuse has taken it's toll.
This afternoon I shall be dropping the car off for the wheels to be refurbished, hopefully have the car back by Friday.
Before.....
