Coming on nicely there mate. You need some of THESE for your wheels though!!
What's the quality like on these, are they ok or a bit 'plasticy' ?

Post 605860 by silverhorse on 2013-05-14 16:31:57
What's the quality like on these, are they ok or a bit 'plasticy' ?
I've just fitted them to my black Nebs and they look absolutely fine. They are not too glossy or too matt. They are a bit deep, if you see what I mean, and they stand a bit proud of the wheel, but they can be cut down so they fit further in the bolt hole. I will be doing mine when I can get off my backside!! For 14 quid or whatever they are, I thought they were a cheap, effective fix for my scabby bolts. edit- forgot to say, they don't go over my lockers. Don't know if all lockers are the same?? No worries though, as I just painted the face of my lockers black. Not ideal, but still looks presentable.
Would like to see that ! never seen a plod one with the suspension lowered ! Mini meet ! when ?
This is when I bought it from up your way, north of the tyne. Image Bit of a crap pic, but just to show the difference, it's about 40mm lower just by changing the nivomat shocks but I plan to lower it further 30-40mm. Image As Mrp says his is about as low as you'd get it without coilovers

Post 606116 by M-R-P on 2013-05-14 21:34:36

Any lower and you'll kyss goodbye to your exhaust! I'm already clipping some speed ramps and I have to be careful when I park half kerb half road too.

Post 606130 by dirtybootz on 2013-05-14 22:05:26

Post 606180 by dirtybootz on 2013-05-14 23:18:32

It sits very well !........I will admit ,I would be tearful to drive it here, the potholes would kill it ;)

Post 606181 by M-R-P on 2013-05-14 23:21:36

Like this?
Tonight I went out to quote for a CCTV install, out in the sticks, somewhere near Ringwood. I turned down a country lane which was littered with dirt and small potholes. Ahead were two puddles, exactly the same distance apart as the track of the average car and about 18" to 2 feet wide..... BANG. Oh $h1T... Luckily, the subframe caught most of it before the sump got too involved and I don't think I'd have gotten away with it if I still had the old plod springs on either... Image Image I drove on the verge on the return trip lol. Grrrr.
Post 606184 by dirtybootz on 2013-05-14 23:25:55

Yes thats the ones !.........also the ones that flatten alloy wheels ! tell the council and your screwed ! they get you back by not emptying the bins for a month ! lol ;)

Post 606186 by M-R-P on 2013-05-14 23:33:14

Scumbags! In all honesty, I wasn't looking to go that low with the car. I know an "ebay troll" who spotted this set of Apex springs with a start price of 99p and told me to offer £40 - which I did. For the price, I did pretty well. My front top spring seats are on their way out now though lol. I'll eventually get 18" or 19" wheels and bring the ride height up a bit, which would help.

Post 606190 by dirtybootz on 2013-05-14 23:45:53

It looks very well ! does it ride responsive still like when it was a service car ? or is it a totally different ride ? I like the ride I have, its a real driving car ! never get tired of driving it unlike other vehicles I drive........... And on the roof thing ! I would do it .......black it ! .........

Post 606191 by dirtybootz on 2013-05-14 23:47:28
Can I ask a question?... I really like the later v70's but why does the exhaust have to point straight at the floor..
I know - crap aint it! I think the revised exhaust layout means the tailpipe would go half way through the bumper. Crap design and makes it look like a bus! On top of that, the inlet to the backbox is at 45 degrees to the bloody thing so none of the nice cheap backboxes you find on fleabay will fit without some welding. GRRRR

Post 608572 by Tomcat on 2013-05-20 23:25:57

Think I'd be cutting a nice Oval shaped hole in the bumper,lol... That's gotta suck.
