After our success at the VOC Southern BKV last weekend, I thought I'd start a thread to see if anyone would be interested in attending the VOC National Rally and BKV on the 16th June. It will be held at Hatton Country World which has an adventure farm for the kids and a shopping village, something for all the family. http://www.hattonworld.com/ Hatton Country World, Dark Lane, Hatton, Warwick, Warwickshire CV35 8XA https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?safe=off&q=cv35+8xa&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x4870cbdb2b4ff93d:0xc11523826bcfb84c,Hatton+CV35+8XA&gl=uk&ei=Em2fUcaLB8G2O4jsgZAF&sqi=2&ved=0CJEBELYD Junc 15 of the M40 so handy for the 'Birmingham Brigade' too :haha: You do NOT have to be a paid up member of VOC to attend, though you DO if you wish to enter your car into the BKV competition. Names below please..... 1. V70 Graham 2. Nobber72

I'm interested in this, I asked about the camping, as it seemed that you have to be a VOC member to do it, but I didn't get an answer.

Post 609730 by Volvostorm on 2013-05-24 16:40:32

I got a reply, just checked, turns out you can't camp over unless you are a member of the MG owners club!!! :rolling_e:rolling_e:rolling_e:rolling_e As a non club member you are welcome to attend especially on the Sunday. However in order to Camp and enter your car you will need to be a paid up member. You can join on line or ring MG owners club to join. It is £30 per year with one off joining fee of £5 so £35 in all. Nigel Ayling Co- organiser National rally and BKV
Same date as north weadl meet??
Yes it is Jim, and I know a lot of VPC will be at North Weald. Sharkey R will be going to Hatton as his car was 'S60 Class Winner' last week, we will be going to keep him company as our V70 won a 'Highly Commended' award.....and I think I'm right in saying doorman (850/C S V 70 Class Winner) is not attending :saint:

Post 609745 by T5frankie on 2013-05-24 17:29:35

you not going to north weald then?

Post 609747 by V70 Graham on 2013-05-24 17:34:22
you not going to north weald then?
Doesn't look like it mate, don't worry, I'll get onto the strip at some point.....and at the moment I still need to arrange a shift swap for this.

Post 609748 by Volvostorm on 2013-05-24 17:34:48

If I can get the trailer, I will come for the day, its not too far.
your'e only going cos you think you can win
Hmmm.....not really, though it would be nice to get summat lol, mainly it's to keep Sharkey company, and there will be plenty of 1/4 mile meets later in the year.

Post 609781 by stribo on 2013-05-24 19:01:32

I think we'll be going to North Weald, as although I'm sure it'll be a great day, we'd rather drive our cars, than just look at them parked up. ;) Plus we won't win jack lol

Plus much prefer beating competition on the strip, that's why we bought our cars, to go fast. Best of luck to Steve and AnneMarie though, I'm sure they'll do well, maybe you should buy a Volvo and compete. :P LOL

Graham got Highly Commended in his class although I personally think he should have got runner up. I think the judge liked the guy that beat Graham's wheels as they were very close to looking chrome. I just squeezed the Best in Class for the R. Was very close, the judges spent half hour or so going between mine and ICs (Ian) R and they said at the time there's barely anything in it. :)

As you already know, Steve won the S60 class, and rightly so, his car is immaculate, and we came away with a 'Highly Commended' which we are very pleased with, a great day out and special thanks go to External Error (Stewart) who came along to support us. Here are the winners..... Image Image

One last pic, Anne took on the way home of Steve's car, she took it through the sun strip on the windscreen (by accident) but I think it's a great photo. Image

Well done Steve and Graham, looks like you all had a great time, cars looked fantastic, I reckon I would have had some serious competition had I have turned up. Who won 1st & 2nd in the V70 class then? Sorry, won't be able to make the softies this weekend, perhaps next time. All the best lads. David

Post 618468 by V70 Graham on 2013-06-20 21:31:22

Thank you David, page 4 of this thread shows the winner and runner up, the winners car is a silver S70 and is on the same post as the picture of James's car (I only got the engine bay) runner up was the V70 which was the same colour as mine. Not wishing to blow smoke too far up your exhaust, you would have been ok had you made the trip. I still maintain my (wife's) car is the best manual gearbox car lol Shame you can't make Sunday, always next month.

I now know what you mean from our conversations Graham, neither you nor I have the time to compete at that level... Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the winner have his engine out and cleaned all of the bay inside? Plus he was retired... A few "Highly Commended" Trophies on the mantelpiece and a bit of fun as I know you don't take it too seriously is never going to hurt anyone, plus it's a good day out... and a good advertisement for other clubs to see that VPC can stand alone even though we weren't invited (again!)

To be honest when I told people I was from VPC I didn't get any negative feedback, we are all in it for the cars and I think some even appreciated the work I had put in. As you say it's all a bit of fun, BKV this year, round the track at Silverstone at last years TRAX, I just see the car (and myself) as an all-rounder, who knows maybe try my hand on 'the strip' !

Post 626822 by iancho on 2013-07-19 16:22:28

Your a valuable member of VPC Graham as you say an 'All Rounder' you have really gotten into the Spirit of everything the site has to offer and given yourself wholeheartedly to being an active member in every sense of the word... The Strip is beckoning is all eventually.... It's only a matter of time... !
