Going away for a while.....

I've decided it's time for me to take a temporary break from active posting here on VPC, at least for a while until things settle down on here. Overall the majority of people on this site have been, and will continue to be, very helpful and pleasant and I'd like to thank them for that - you know who you are! But what has really annoyed me for sometime is a small minority of people who seem to belittle and degrade my efforts to a) improve my car, b) help others and c) get on with everybody on here. I joined this site in good faith and really didn't expect to be met with such animosity and egotistic behaviour from a minority, something the people concerned will deny stating "it's just my opinion". Unfortunately this has lead to a situation of "what you give you will receive" and I'd rather the rest of you didn't have to put up with that right now. I'm going to take a break from actively posting on this site for a while and in the meantime I'll continue working on getting my car back to normality before starting to transform it further. I've really been through thick and thin with this car for past year and a bit and I honestly love it, the car has loads of potential (yes it does!). I'm not going to give the small minority any more ammunition to further deprecate my efforts, and when I come back I hope that most people will see just how steadfastness and commitment can pay off. I really hate being told I'm wasting my money, well let's be clear on one thing, I'll say to those people, 'it's my money to waste so what's it do with you?'. Let me waste my money if that's what you think I'm doing but don't criticise me for it on the forum, instead, what about offering me something useful or if you don't feel you can do that then don't do anything, I won't take offence. I'm sorry if some of my comments above seem harsh but honestly, it's time to lay the cards down on the table and be done with it. I'd like to think I've tried to offer something back to this community, I believe I have even if I'm not a mechanical expert - I try my best. I'm hoping that I can come back later and offer some more. Thank you and see you all soon, I'll be back, better and bolder!!

James if you're having difficulty with certain members then just add them to your ignore list, that way anything they do post will not be displayed anyway. Tbh though I kinda agree with your comments, after all the flack I got a little while ago I too was all for leaving (sad really when you consider I've been on this forum throughout all it's various names for getting on for 14 years now) but I'm §§§§§§ed if I'm being driven off my one or two small minded members. Best thing to do if youre that fed up is just give it a break for a couple of weeks, you may feel different when you come back.

People will always have opinions, and 99% of the time they will give them if you ask for them or not. You are right, it's your money and you can spend it as you wish, and I do personally believe you WILL sort out the issues with your car and end up with a decent T5 at the end of it, but again that's only MY opinion, others as you well know will beg to differ. It would be a shame for you to stop posting, as Tomcat says maybe take a week or two then get back on here, we all (even me) have something to offer VPC.

i for one am pleased. im sure this wont go down well but tough. ive recieved aggresive pms from him and many sarcastic coments on my posts. all i ever did was try and help the guy and got it thrown back in my face. forum will be a better place without him. if you take comments personly then dont post. its as simple as that

James sometimes it does seem that everyone is on your case, or telling you you're doing everything wrong, I've had a bit of it myself, but there again I give as good as I get, and sometimes bring it on myself. ;) The best thing to do is prove the doubters wrong, then you'll have the last laugh.

James, don't take any comments to heart onbforums mate. Always take things with a pinch of salt. People's opinions differ broadly on a public forum and some people are more eager to air their views than others. You have your aims and goals for your car, stick to them and you'll have a good car that YOU'LL be happy with, which is what matters

I`ve learned over the years that you need quite a thick skin to deal with some people on some forums but I`ve not found VPC to be one of them really, although I`ve not been here for long it`s the friendliest forum I`m currently a member of. Try not to take it too seriously...I used to get wound up all the time, not any more, pinch of salt and all that. The amount of flak I get on Pistonheads, for example, is unreal but it`s par for the course and not always undeserved :wink: I rarely bite back now, it`s a waste of time. Give it a couple of weeks and see how you feel...

I've been ripped to death over buying mine, face to face & over the forums. I've had the Micky taken out of my cream interior & my scabby steering wheel. My car is a massive money pit but at the end of the day, people aren't going to fall out with me over it. I'll just tell them to do one & carry on my skinning of knuckles, my spending of my hard earned & why??? Because I don't drink much, I don't take drugs (ok maybe the odd spliff mr officer) & it keeps me out of trouble. Your car looks in very good condition & sensibly modified, if you want to spend a fortune don't let the haters stop you. Main thing is not to bite or listen. People will always have different opinions... It's a car forum. If we all had the same it would be a Barry boring place & none of us would learn from each others experience & knowledge. Good luck to you, looking through my cars service history there isn't a lot that's original.

We all get jacked off with it from time to time, its normal. I disappeared for about a year and NO ONE noticed, so I came back .. and NO ONE NOTICED !! and guess what James, no one will notice you have gone. Take a break calm down and return when you feel like it... but don't be gutted when no one notices your BACK !! Lots of advise on here and occasionally you'll get told your doing it wrong, I did plenty, but there is no reason to get moody about it. you just have to take it on the chin and carry on.

(And to give basis to this, traders are ask when applying for trade status to watch how they conduct themselves and that they will lose the ability to trade on the site if they don't...............as you can see, Graeme still has trade status). I'm not going to go into exactly what James had sent Graeme but from a purely independent point of view I felt it completely un-necessary. Discussions on this forum are supposed to be balanced, we actively endorse this. This means conflicts in opinion BUT we expect those that use the forum to both respectfully accept others do differ in opinion and that you respectfully put your opinion across. (Or to be honest..............go elsewhere).

Those that put a P2 R clutch in a Volvo 850 will probably be ok well above that. Less weight and only 2WD puts less strain on the clutch.

Stupid mistake. Got a quote today from the guy who did work on my last M3 and its booked in next Tuesday and costing me £150. Needs to be done as the biggest Bmw gathering is in August so can't have the car showing signs of neglect lol.
