Hey all!
So, after nearly 2.5 years with my lovely 480, Poppy, I let her go on the 25th.
Next day I bided on this on eBay, won it, collected it on Sunday 28th. Very satisfied!
I was tempted to get my beloved V70 on the road but if I did I know the money from the sale of the 480 would have just been wasted on it and if I ever decided to change vehicle (which I do regularly!) I wouldn't be able to as that car will NEVER be for sale! In 2007 when I was 15 I inherited it from My late Father you see so I do have great sentimental attachment you see. 2 days before he died he booked it in for an MOT 3 days later. Next day after I was tinkering with it he suggested that if it passes the test with little work he'd hold onto it for me (he wasn't using it at the time!). Sadly, a few hours after saying that he died. The next day on the Monday the car was collected and it passed it's MOT no problem after sitting for 7 months, good old Volvos eh?
That will hopefully explain why I'm so attached to what is (at the moment at least) just a big garden ornament! Obviously I couldn't afford to drive the car when passing the test at 17 so got a year under my belt and when I was 18 I achieved my motoring goal, driving my Dad's old car, happy days!
Enough of that though for now, this is a thread for the new one...
________________________
This is my first proper Manual Volvo and the fastest car I've ever driven and without a doubt the best!
This wasn't at the top of my list when choosing a car, ideally wanted a BMW E30 but it was cheaper to insure this than a 316i believe it or not!
It, physically speaking, is very good indeed. The rear bumper has a few marks on it and there are a couple of minor marks along the passenger side. But, as the car's silver they're hardly noticeable.
A previous owner had the roof vinyl wrapped in Gloss Black, and tbh it looks really good. He didn't have the car long only getting it earlier this year. He sold it to the chap I bought it off who decided to sell it as it was too expensive to use on his short commute. So yes, I'm the FORTH keeper of this car this year alone! You may then begin to think that there's something wrong with the car?
But no, not yet anyway!
Collected the car from Nottingham, performed faultlessly on the way home. Quick check over the car before handing over the cash proved that the car seemed ok. When I got home and properly looked through all the receipts it showed that over the last few years a **** ton of work has been carried out. £300 this, £400 that. 11 service stamps in the book with the invoices for the most recent few to back them up. No warning lights on the dash and they all work too, none blown/removed. The etm doesn't seem to be playing up, revs and idles like it should.
Honestly, the car drives faultlessly! 82K which of course is nothing for one of these!
I will hold my hands up though and say that I stalled it practically straight away! Compared to my 480 the clutch pedal is very light and has a very short travel. Got more confident on the way home. Haven't driven it since as it's untaxed, naughty I know, will tax it for the first obviously!
It's well spec'd with the Dolby Prologic Surround Sound System, Sunroof, Trip Computer, Climate Control but thankfully no electric seats (who actually needs them?).
When I got it was absolutely filthy as there were loads of trees around where it was parked up for a month. Behind the fuel door was disgusting!
The interior is a classy Black/Dark Grey Leather with the Sliver Mesh Trim. The driver's seat is worn and starting to crack slightly but should still be save-able. The knob and shaft to adjust the amount the seat reclines is a bit fubbered mind! Had to drive all the way home in someone else's driving position, I'm all laid back not bolt up right! Also, I think the last owner was a drug dealer or something, loads of simcards in the car and air fresheners! Great, the car probably has a mark from the police on it lol!
A couple of niggles though - The driver's door lock doesn't lock or unlock the car, it just turns? The passenger window seal was whistling at the start of the journey home but after the window went up and down a few times it was silent.
Which is another problem, the car is silent! The 480 was really quite loud and raw but when I first started this car with the door shut the only way I could tell was by the dials! The V70 has twin Jetex Silencers and I thought that was quiet! But this with its saloon boot is something else and to be honest I don't like it. All in all the car feels too modern. All the controls are so light etc, I feel like I'm doing nothing!
Don't get me wrong, I do actually like the car I just miss the old retro charm of the 480! I'm going to nick a couple of things off the V70 and see what happens. I've already nicked the flat blade wipers!
Strut Brace, Performance Panel Air Filter and maybe the dark custom painted C70 Comets? But the tyres on these current ones are good all matching Falkens whereas the ones on the V70 are mismatched cheapies! Not sure but the swap over would mean they definitely suited each car better! Dark Comets on a Silver C70 and Light Comets on a Dark Blue V70?
Anyway, I think that is all for now so have some pics.
First, here are some before doing anything to it except clear out the interior a bit!

Yes I know the car has an unsightly removable towbar that cost some poor sap £430 according to the receipts in 2008 I think. It will be removed and sold!
Interior is nice with it's original mats.
First Shots 005 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr
The engine bay is filthy with debris everywhere clogging drainage etc!

Really crap but easily removed Halfords' Badge had to go!

Then of course I gave her a quick wash and clayed the car, if conditions allow I'll polish and seal/wax tomorrow.

Not much I can do with the car right now due to no tax and as there's an issue with my PayPal currently so I can't even buy anything for it yet!
I will update this thread regularly I'm afraid so check back often, it just won't be that interesting, just me washing and taking photos lol
;)
Thanks for now,
Dave :D

Looks like a damn good starting point, looking forward to seeing your progress.

Nice, like the black roof.
The car needs a name!
Roodolph?
Dolph Lundgren.....is Swedish?
Ola.....Hansson, inventor of the moustache, from Lund
(one of the above facts is not true)
Post 630672 by stephenevans99 on 2013-07-30 07:45:59
Looking good.....I'm sure I've seen the car on here before - very tidy looking.
Post 630676 by volvokid on 2013-07-30 07:55:06
that is very nice, I'm liking the black roof from the rear profile shots. you should get one of those little lip spoilers and throw that halfords T5 badge in the bin and get a proper one :)
Oh I see it is off :)

Super looking Motor, that Black roof really sets it off

Nice car you have there, +1 for the black roof, looking forward to seeing how the project materializes.
Post 630713 by stribo on 2013-07-30 10:24:32
Welcome to C70 ownership. The car looks smart with the black roof, it's something I've thought about doing to mine.
Post 630722 by Wobbly Dave on 2013-07-30 11:11:21
I have a lip spoiler (unpainted) if you like. I changed my mind since buying it & it's been in the shed for some time.
I have most bits should you need anything.
Enjoy the ride.
Post 630725 by AcidicDavey on 2013-07-30 11:18:54
Thanks everyone!
I can't think of a name for this one, it's not characterful enough to deserve one!
This car may well have visited here, I don't know. I haven't been on here regularly enough recently to notice! But the one recent owner (before the last) posted on the Volvo Owners Forum, that's where I first saw the car, posted in his one thread but didn't think I'd be owning it a few months later lol!
I agree that the roof really suites it and it's a pro job with what seems to be good quality vinyl and I ££££ you not but one of the things on my shopping list was one of those little lip spoilers! Dilemma though, Silver or Black???
Thanks Wobbly, have to have a think...
Post 630726 by Nealevo on 2013-07-30 11:19:21
Looks very nice, the black roof seems to work well. Enjoy the T5 Thrill and Ppppoooooooowwwwwwwwwwweeeeeeeerrrrrrrr.
Post 630736 by volvokid on 2013-07-30 12:45:12
Haha I was thinking black or silver for the lip. I will leave it up to you ;)
Post 630891 by stephenevans99 on 2013-07-30 19:30:00
The car now needs tinting. It'll give the look of a continuing roof line down to the boot lid.....you know what I mean lol
Post 631066 by AcidicDavey on 2013-07-30 22:58:52
Not sure about tinting, they're hard enough to see out of as they are!!!
Stole some bits off the V70 today. Panel Filter, Strut Brace, Modern Centre Caps and some chav spec ciggy lighters!!
Taxed it today too, £30 of petrol goes quite fast....
Post 631370 by AcidicDavey on 2013-07-31 23:19:33
So I taxed the car yesterday as I said, done nearly 300 miles in it already!
It seems to scare passengers or make them feel sick, brilliant!
Again the car is too quiet for me though, turbo-back stainless on 'the list' but it'd have to be used. I imagine the cost of a new system would be as much as the car cost! I don't want it loud, I just want a bit of burble!
The car handles and drives well for what it is, fitted the strut brace as I said and Torque Steer is non existent.
The car seems low, does it look like it's been lowered a touch? I'm not too sure.
Regardless, if the car gets under my skin and I decide I'm definitely keeping it then I think some IPD 25mm Anti Roll Bars will be a suitable upgrade :).
So, after getting familiar with the car here is what needs doing/sorting to make perfect.
- Driver's Door Lock repair to fix an issue with locking with the key.
- Source Brake noise. Once the car's warm you can hear the brakes tweeting which goes when they're applied. Rear discs and pads need changing anyway!
- Replace cord on fuel filler cap.
- Find perfect (impossible) driver's seat.
- Remove Towbar.
- Replace bulb in driver's vanity mirror.
- Sort 2 small dents on the n/s.
- Replace rotten rear exhaust hanger.
And that covers it! Apart from those points the car is perfect! No bangs, creaks or whatever.
I am struggling with the gear shifting with this car though, the throw is too much for my liking so a Short Shift kit should come my way I think. So there are 3 mods/changes I'd like to do that I can't afford to!
- Turbo-Back followed by remap,
- IPD 'Track Spec' ARBs,
- Short Shift Kit.
So far I've fitted...
- a Strut Brace,
- Pipercross Panel Air Filter, will drill the airbox, if I don't like it then I have a different one too!
- Modern caps and blue valve caps to match blue badges,
- Shiny Chav engine bling,
- Blue Fob Case.
Need to put the V70's wheels on it now, I've got a couple of other aesthetic plans for it too but nothing exciting!
Here are a few more pics...

What do we reckon? Will they suite with the Gloss Black Roof or will they clash?
Post 631372 by merc85 on 2013-07-31 23:27:39
The wheels will look awesome, if you want more noise, id suggest Polly bushing the top Engine stay bar, That will wake you up :)
Lovely looking car mate, well done

You could make it look like this???

Lovely looking car, those wheels will suit it well I recon.
Post 632498 by AcidicDavey on 2013-08-04 20:43:38
The other day the car wouldn't start for a few turns of the key even though I'd started it multiple times earlier that day. I had a similar problem with the V' way back when and yes it was the ignition ring around the barrel, just cleaned it and sanded the inside with some 240grit paper and it was perfect ever after! I was thinking this may be the problem yesterday.
I got an eggcrate grill the otherday. Absolute bargain compared to what I've sold one for in the past off the V'! Fitted it this evening as well as removing the sound deadening from the bonnet to fulfil my lust for more noise. Now you can really hear the turbo and that lovely 5 pot roar but as it's undamaged it can be easily re-installed ;). I know everyone here has probably done it but anyone wanting more noise on WOT needs to do this first! :D
I refitted the front plate too with some screw covers and as I wasn't happy with it's position. I'll get some pressed plates at some point as well.
Here are some random pics :D

Removed 2 of the wheels off the V' the other day too in to properly clean them inside and out. They owe me A LOT of money but they look the mutz nutz! :D
I had them painted when I bought them last March and were only on the car for 3 months before I took it off the road. I never once washed them properly as I couldn't be bothered with car cleaning those days but now after washing twice with car shampoo, claying, polishing and then sealing they look like new again! Only one of the 4 wheels has a small kerb mark on it and hopefully it'll stay that way! I have to park next to a kerb as close as possible so passengers don't stuff their door into the hedge!
Here are a couple of pics, secondly is one in direct sunlight to show the sparkle!

Does look lowered to me mate. I'd be sticking those comets on it, they will compliment the roof.
What engines in the v70, looks like it needs a bit of a whack with the lowering stick..
Post 632568 by AcidicDavey on 2013-08-04 22:51:06
I'm thinking it's lowered but it rides so well and the springs are Black so I don't know truth be told!
The V70 is just a normal AWD so it's an LPT. Ideally, if I could afford it I'd get them Intrax RSA Coilovers but at £1600 they are well out of my reach lol
Post 632569 by merc85 on 2013-08-04 23:04:01
Beutifull car mate, gonna look awesome with those wheels
Post 633101 by AcidicDavey on 2013-08-06 22:07:09
So, as the weather was clear this afternoon I managed to put the 2 wheels I already cleaned on her today. Then, put the 2 off the C70 on the V70 so I could then get the other 2 off to clean up etc.
Put simply, due to our unique situation it takes about 4 or 5 hours to swap the wheels around! Admittedly 3 or 4 hours involved cleaning or going back and forth!
Anyway, she looks good with her new boots and as it would seem the tyres aren't too bad. No noisier than the others which is a shame actually. The V70 used to hum on the go and I thought that maybe it was the cheap tyres, but no. They don't hum on this car so my original suspicion of a dodgy wheel baring is almost confirmed :(
Here are some pics anyway, she looks great with the eggcrate too! Those little black dots on the car are flies btw...

Looking awesome on the black comets mate, she's really coming along. Can't wait to crack on with my cosmetics. Lol
As for the v70 its possible to drop it without coilovers, I take it its on nivomats at the rear?
Post 633113 by AcidicDavey on 2013-08-06 22:36:47
Cheers! Really happy with them on it!
The V70, being an AWD it has Nivos yes and were only available with them.
There are some lowering springs that work with the V70R AWD nivos made by TME but they cost a lot of money plus then some new front struts etc. I might as well just go for the Coilies!
All that crap will have to wait though due to lack of funds, I was tempted to get it back on the road rather than buying this but that would have just ended up with me ££££ing my money away lol
Post 633118 by Biff on 2013-08-06 22:54:09
If you can source some lowered springs for the front you can lower the rear nivo's without the need of lowered springs. Fooler bolts are pretty cheap to buy from an engineering wholesalers. They're basically longer bolts & a longer sleeve that drop the rear whatever you want. I've opted for 30mm front springs & 50mm spacers with 3" bolts to level it out. Once my awd is working again I plan to fit them along with hopefully a set of uprated front dampers. Just an idea to save yourself £1600 & get your precious v70 down mate. Understand if you want the best for it seeing as you'll be keeping it a while.. ;)
Sorry for straying off topic of your lovely c70 though.

Very nice, liking the eggcrate, any plans for new lights ?
Post 633564 by AcidicDavey on 2013-08-08 18:02:38
It's not off topic Biff, don't worry ;). I don't have a thread here for the V so this is a good a place as anywhere to talk about it. TBH though, I think the car would benefit from some replacement rear shocks anyway as these were sagging but since jacking her up to swap the wheels over and putting here down again the rear seems higher than before!!
My plan for headlights would be to get some of the clear units from 03-05 cars but they tend to go for a pretty penny so that idea is probably shelved!
Alternatively I could go for some projectors I know, I've got some Black ones on the V' but I don't think they'll suit a silver car and to be honest I'm not a huge fan of the idea of buying some silver ones unless they were cheap, I just prefer the clear late C70 soft top lights I guess.
I'm really happy having put these wheels on the car, they really do set it off a treat! It would have been a crime for me not to put them on since I had them anyway and as I said before the V70 too looks better with the silver comets on. Both sets are the C70 7.5J spec.
I would really like some of the Propus wheels on the V70 one day, I don't think they were ever offered on them though, just C70s so are all 17x7.5 I presume? Maybe even some titons, the 18' BBS split rims, not sure I've got their name right there!
Yesterday when I was cleaning up the 2 silver comets to put onto the V' I had a chap and his young lad who were passing on their bikes stop for a chat about the cars! This chap was very interested in my V70 not knowing quite what it was ('Is it an R? Is it a T5?' Now you'll know why I call it's thread 'The not an R or T5 thread!'). He himself has a silver V70R and I could see where the conversation was going so while chatting about the car I chucked in that I am not selling it nor am I breaking it!
He was after one set of the wheels, he really liked the silver/black combination of the C! He thought they'd suit his silver R and I'm sure they would but I told him I would be prepared to let the silver ones go if he could put some wheels in p/x. After he departed though I realised that his 16s he offered may not fit over the 302s on the front of the V, we'll have to see what happens as I don't even know what wheels he has!
Also, he was telling me that after having his S plate auto R chipped recently it's started to tap and he blames the remap! Of course the outlet that provided the service isn't accepting liability which I don't blame them for! Obviously his engine maybe isn't as healthy as he'd like to think. Could a simple ecu remap really cause a healthy engine to develop a top end rattle?
This chap, sorry to say, didn't really seem to know what he had claiming that 'Chipping BMWs were fine as they were under-tuned whereas Volvos are maxed out at the factory!'
That bit made me laugh!

Thanks guys, would have loved a saffy but I didn't want to wait for the perfect car, this was good enough ;)
I don't think I'll be lowering it further, it already is surely?! If any C owners with their cars at the standard ride height could give me a figure that would be great to cross reference with mine that'd be great! I think it's lowered 30mm or so... The bottom of the bumper is all scraped so must be lowered lol
The car's filthy after 500 miles without washing so if weather allows I'll give her a good going over tomorrow. So big post tomorrow hopefully!
And thanks Wobbly, I know lol. This 1k car is going to cost me a fortune lol

I'll post up a couple of pics of the V70 with the silver Comets on it too when it's cleaned up!
very nice & subtle & works really well i like that. I'd be tempted to black/grey the mirrors & wheels nuts if it was mine, but looks really good as it is
Post 634354 by AcidicDavey on 2013-08-10 23:11:53
Cheers, guys. Really pleased with them wheels on the car. Would have been a crime not to put them on since I had them on the V70 not doing anything!
Having done over 500 miles in the car since washing it last it really needed another go! Problem with a silver car isn't it? Looks clean even when it's filthy! Some'll say that's a bonus but not for me! I look to see the difference when I wash a car, having taken a couple of photos before washing I just deleted them as you could hardly tell it was dirty!
Here are some pics after a wash anyway, hopefully I'll do the rest tomorrow having not had the chance last time!

Here's a mark on the right side of the rear bumper, looks like someone reversed into something and all the paint is a bit nasty, hopefully it'll respond well to the polish and what not! And yes, it is completely dry in this photo!

I have the 426 (moonlight silver) touch-in paint. Even with the right paint code - you're never going to get a complete colour match. 200 quid for a full bumper respray on average.
Post 634362 by AcidicDavey on 2013-08-10 23:58:18
TBH, trying to just respray that area would look a complete mess, needs a replacement bumper or a full respray and as there are a couple of chips and marks around the bumper it wouldn't be a bad think.
It looks worse in person than it that pic, it's difficult to photo the bad bits of a silver car!
Post 634602 by AcidicDavey on 2013-08-11 23:31:15
This might go on a bit...
The problem with silver is that it always looks clean. The good thing about silver though is that it always looks clean!
After 500 miles the car was dirty, I took photos before starting but tbh you can't hardly see the difference in the pics or the progress pics even but here we go anyway!
I break up the work as I mostly have to work in the sun and it's tiring so I washed the car yesterday.
So I get my hose; my Meguier's Wool Wash Mitt and my 2 buckets, one containing just water, the other containing a Bilt Hamber Shampoo solution and was the car in the well practised manner. Once done I dry with the large Microfibre towel. After, I clay the whole car, one panel at a time using a segment of a Soft Bilt Hamber Clay Bar drying as I go. Here's how she looked after doing the wheels also...same 2 pics as abovve but hey ho!

10-08-13 002 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr
That was it for yesterday. The weather was playing ball through the night and in the morning so I was able to finish it today.
Obviously it was time to get the polish out. As usual I used Bilt Hamber Cleanser Polish which I found difficult to buff off on dark cars but on this it was a breeze, less than an hour to do the whole car which is probably a record for me! Here's how she looked after I finished.

Polished 002 by AcidicDavey, on Flickr
After that I had a break, and by break I mean a 10 mile bike ride with a friend! I got back, had a snack or 2 and set to work again. For waxing/sealing I've been using Bilt Hamber Auto Balm which tbh I don't like using! Yes, it looks great but it's so difficult to apply and buff off! The applicator snags on the perfectly smooth paintwork and the mf doesn't glide through it at all when you're buffing it off! Looks and feels great mind when it's finished...Before though I did dress the small amount of trim the car has with Mequier's Endurance Tyre Gel.

I also wiped the engine bay down and dressed all the plastics with the tyre gel again. Don't really like detailing engine bays but this was so dirty before I got the car I had to do something about it! Not taken it too far but looks a lot smarter than when I got it.

Considering a year ago I barely even washed a car with a sponge I've certainly stepped up my cleaning game!
Having finished the car I took it somewhere I discovered today. The Church on Huntington Lane.

Ok, I'm going to admit it, I'm a bit bored of this car. I miss the character of the 480 and constantly having to defend it for its' negatives. Yes, this car is fast, comfortable, stylish, reliable, infact it's everything I could want from a car except practical and cheap to run but then I knew I'd be sacrificing there before buying of course! The car will probably end up for sale this year I imagine, it's a great car and everything, just a bit dull. I don't even have the V5 yet, collected the car 4 weeks ago tomorrow, a little worried now :/. Forgive me for this but I really, really, really want a BMW E30, I should have held out for one instead!
Anyway, on Monday I was in Brynmawr collecting something so I went up into the Brecon Beacons for a pic or two, stunning place!

I bought one of these cool little air fresheners the other day, nice little thing to see swinging around. And of course it's achingly appropriate in this car!
Also, just to finish off, I put this sticker on the back of the car as a small tribute to my old man since after all, he's where I got my appeal for Volvos from!

Fantastic pics of a fantastic car Sorry to hear that it doesn't 'do it for you', and as a fellow owner of a C70 T5 coupe, I know where you're coming from. However, we totally love ours, and we're hanging onto to it until it dies..........
Ours is lowered which make the car's stance much more attractive imo.
Post 638361 by AcidicDavey on 2013-08-24 23:11:04
This one is lowered a touch, 20mm lower that a standard GT so nothing drastic. It's just right imo, not too low to catch when reversing in the drive but then not stock either!
Great car and everything but so characterless!
Post 638363 by Wobbly Dave on 2013-08-25 00:15:51
I wish mine was working so I could show you some character.

As for the e30 they are good cars but they look they're age now with trim & plastics getting rare.

We'll have to see guys. It's just, I really want an E30. I honestly prefer older cars out of choice, and the E30 imo is probably one of the stars of the 80ies!
When buying a car 4 weeks ago I did rush it a bit I think. I've always wanted an E30 so I'm still lusting after one now! Don't get me wrong, I wanted a C70, but I've wanted the retro BM more!
Anyway, a previous owner of this car expressed interest in it when I got it so I will see how much he wants it when and if I do decide I can't be arsed with it. I can't justify spending too much money on upgrades until I'm certain I'm going to keep it.
Another thing is that I look at that poor V70 on the drive and ask myself "Why am I driving a C' when I've got that?". My life's a bloody mess right now anyway, need to sort numerous things out!

I do like this car but having already done the Volvo thing with the V70 I've just got bored of this motor too quickly.
If I had more expendable income then perhaps things would be different and I could do a few fun things with the car but as I'm royally skint, well...you know the rest!
I'm going to look at another car tomorrow which I may be driving home in and leaving the C70 behind.
To me it just seems silly having the C when I've got the V there doing nothing but then I knew that was there before buying this! When I sold the 480 I rushed into buying this car a bit, about an hour or two after getting the cash I bid on this, didn't really wait for the right car long enough. Heck, this car I'm going to see tomorrow isn't quite right for me either. What am I like eh?
What I do know though is that most people in my life are angry at me for even contemplating selling this car, everyone loves it!

Wotcha Davey! Good luck selling it :D very nice car but if it doesn't float your boat just move on to the next........which will be......what????? Something with a French turbo engine perhaps....?
In short succession I've had a V70R, a 460 turbo, next will be that Renault 11 T you found for me......and I have another one lined up......but that is a secret cos it's pretty special (to me) and might not work out.
Post 650425 by AcidicDavey on 2013-10-06 20:15:30
Well Dave, I'm ready to listen!
After going to Birmingham with the car to show someone that I've been talking to about a swap I can say my name is staying on the logbook. Their car was a 02 BMW 325ti Compact, fun little car, had the older version, an E36 as my first car but this one was in absolutely shocking condition! He told me via ebay that the previous owner had used the wrong wax on the paint on the wing, it looked like someone had poured paint stripper on it!
The car had just been warmed up yet the oil filler car was completely dry?? The battery was flat, his brother had been playing with the radio apparently, yeah right! The tyres, my goodness, worst I've ever seen! All 4 were illegal, cracking to bits, the sidewalls falling to pieces, completely dangerous! The bodywork, an 11 year old little car and every panel was dented and scratched, even the roof was dented all over! Loads of wires coming from the battery to power amps and what have you, it goes on and on.
In it's defence though, it did drive spot on and the interior was perfect but I'm sorry, I'd rather stick with this beaut. He was so desperate to sell after I drove off he sent me a text saying he'll get this and that sorted now for me if I come back. So, he had the cheek to say my car is worth £800 (he wishes) and his is worth double (same again!) yet he was willing to spend money on his to trade it for a car what he thought was worth half the price? How he thought my car was worth what he said I don't know as I didn't even show it him as it was down the road!
But I can look at the benefits of this journey, it's opened my eyes to how good my car actually is! In comparison it's wonderful, I suddenly like the car a hell of a lot more!
Where I go now I don't know, I suppose I could advertise it!
You not got the 11 yet then Jamesy? Had a chance to see it yet?

BMW are you sure?? I remember them as been pretty characterless apart from the older ones and the M versions of course. The rear drive should be fun but the 325ti power & torque numbers look well down on your T5. Maybe something I don't know about them....? As you found there is a whole lot of crap out there!

No worries G, I'll keep you on 'the list' if the times does come.
Tbh Jamesy, I do really like BMWs. I'm not saying Volvos are dull as such but out of the box a small little Bimmer is just a laugh! Great fun and not because they're rwd but simply because you feel like you're actually driving rather than being driven if that makes sense?? :?
Yes this is definitely faster in a straight line than a 325ti but there's more to a car than straight line speed!

Yeah, it's an appreciating classic, but don't drive it, or it'll lose value, along with random bits of trim. Oh, and watch out for lift off oversteer, a lot of these ended their lives backwards in a tree.;)

This car essentially owes me £1000 as that's what I paid for the C. It's on 128k and has 11 months MOT and 5 months tax.
It's had about 2k spent on it over the last 12 months or so including a disc conversion at the rear, cambelt, 4 new T1Rs, suspension upgrade. Mechanically it's sorted, other than having an inability to idle when cold but 'They're all like that sir!'.
This is only my 6th car being 21 but it's my smallest and it's a laugh. Yes it's very different to the C and a big downgrade in many respects but the fun factor is here!
Nevertheless, I doubt I'll have it long mind...

That's a smart looking car, very different from the C70 but I do see the appeal :)

1.6 is the best car to go for mate, more revvy.
If you need any bits let me know, my mate rally's one & another has a 205 rallye with a 406 turbo engine.
They do struggle to idle, does the speedo bounce up & down?

Below 50 the speedo needle jumps around a bit yeah.

good choice, im a peugeot man hence the username :D
the idleing is the TCV, take it off and give it a good clean inside with some brake cleaner itll help loads as new ones are hard to come by now.
and the rear disc conversion looks more like a 309gti beam to me, you can tell that by the way the wheels are level with the arches as the 309 beam is that much wider :)
any parts or help you need gimme a shout ive got loads of pug parts and im only down the road ;)

Surely it would be the ICV, as there's no turbo, so no TCV. ;)

The speedo cable passes the exhaust manifold on them & stretches with the heat. Pretty easy fix.
