I've decided to go for a RR day at AET Wakefield in November as last year, in conjunction with other forums. Who's up for it please, and what day's suit? Obviously this isn't central, so I thought splitting them Northern/Southern may be best, if someone would like to take the Southern one on please?

The reply from Jam-Sport:- I’m guessing you would want a Saturday booking? To be fair there’s no minimum but maximum would be 20, could be more if needed, but would need plenty of notice, like over 4-5 weeks. Runs would be £45 each, but price could come down slightly if there was enough running. As for notice in general, as much as possible would be needed so that we don’t book any work in that day. The next available Saturdays are in September now, so as of today the 7th / 21st / 28th and 5th October onwards.
I might be interested in this in November .the 940 will be nicely run in by then and tuned up abit so another rolling road session wouldn't go a miss .

think my motor suprised a few people including my self. was some very quick cars there so i feel i done very well to get 3rd. i was joking with dean about finishing above him but didnt expect to finish above him. was great to meet everyone and put faces to names.im little bit gutted as i ran two different map. one autotech map and what i thought was stg 2 rica turned out to be a standard map. on the way home i pulled in at a service station and changed the map. this time its 100% stg 2. rapid is a understatement

Add 10 bhp then divide by 0.9 for fwd 0.88 for RWD and 0.84 for 4wd its a rough calculation that is from a tuner

The day started early in a deserted & dark car park....Immingham was that excited he'd been there since 06:00....
After a spirited drive up the motorway, we joined a few others....
....an orderly queue was then formed:
Munster was first up....with his saffy S70R producing 214bhp
followed by T5 Pete in the T-5R with 252bhp
Seb was next up with his 850 T5 followed by Immingham in his Gul
Unfortunately both Sebs T5 and Tony's Gul proved a little difficult for the Dyno with them being Autos and their runs were uncompleted :(
Next up was something that sounded a bit special to say the least, Hurdys VW Golf…….which knocked out 371bhp
Not feeling intimidated one bit it was the D5 that was next up…..impressive result which landed me at the top of the Diesel Leaderboard with 147bhp
After the fumes had cleared, Foamy was next in line with his V70R which produced 221bhp
Woody was next in his 850 T5 which produced 303bhp with a cracking soundtrack
MarkT5 was next to run in his C30 T5 which resulted in 222bhp
Graeme Welch in his gorgeous S60 T5 was next on and produced an impressive 310bhp
Deathy was in next with his recently acquired S70 T5 which resulted in 233bhp
Nosh’s turn next in his S40 T5 which produced 347bhp
The Asbo ST which turned up towards the end was next which resulted in 255bhp
Had an absolutely brilliant day, it was great to put a few more faces to familiar names. A superb collection of cars too. The 2 lads at AET worked non stop and ensured everything went smoothly – Cheers AET.
Huge thanks for Sam for managing the catering – sausage & bacon barms – endless cups of coffee – chocolate doughnuts, shortbread, choccy flapjack & biscuits – even Welchy brought in some Mint Chocolate Cake :)

Looks like a good day out. In my experience transmission losses in manuals are always fixed between 20 and 25 bhp and are not proportional to the power produced. Graham adding 40 - 45 is overly optimistic IMHO. Drag losses for automatics are impossible to calculate, because the torque converter is bolted to the flywheel. In any case chassis dynos cant do drag losses, as far as I know.

On a Golf R DSG the tranny losses are roughly 12% due to still dragging the prop around even in FWD mode, so a more accurate 416bhp.

Hurdy's Golf was simply EPIC.......He took three of us out in it - 3 LARGE lads btw. Launch Control was activated - 4000rpm then bang - it took off LITERALLY. The power and sheer amount of grip was incredible. This is one seriously quick motor.....I'm still smiling 12 hours later :) That trophy was well deserved....

The car ran lean and AET didn't want to run it again after the issue showed on the first run. Looks like a disconnected fuel pressure regulator vac pipe is this year's issue, but hopefully sorted now. We disturbed it whilst fitting a dv the weekend before, and the car has been running very badly.

Just a thought....wouldn't it be easier for the Southern softies to get their whp figures rather than having to guesstimate our bhp figures? All dynos work with whp and most then convert to bhp.

at the wheels is wear it matters though. its all well and good saying my car is 400 bhp but is not realy. your engine produces 400 bhp but the car dosnt put down 400 bhp if awd sapped all my power id say the same though
But all figures quoted by car makers, engine builders, race teams are quoted as crank power, it's the industry standard, and it's the benchmark that every engine/car is judged by. If you start quoting whp you're not comparing apples with apples, and so means nothing.
