Congratulations to the community for surviving this long!!
20th August 2004, the first thread was started on VPCUK Just happened to be checking the date it all started, spooky eh? :D
Wasn't that the day the forum became VPCUK?.. It was around a lot longer than that by another name.
Wasn't that the day the forum became VPCUK?.. It was around a lot longer than that by another name.
Can't remember the name before, T5uk sounds familiar. & is 2004 not the date it restarted after the big VPC server crash?
I wasn't around then.....I'm only a youngster lol
VolvoT5.co.uk Both names were registered at the same time but Vpc was left dormant. 9 years eh? Cool!
Congrats to VPCUK
Happy Birthday.
Happy birthday!
Think there were some previous attempts at the site which weren't migrated to the current form. (Dunno, Justin?). Big crash was 2008 I believe Duane and the backup was from 2006? (Looks that way from the data we have).
I think Tomcat, Pedro & Judge are the 'oldest' regular members.....shouldn't they get a cake or something ;)
VolvoT5.co.uk Both names were registered at the same time but Vpc was left dormant. 9 years eh? Cool!
Ah yes, the original volvoT5 was started by a college lad called Immy. Myself, Mrs Mopp & Justin were just moderators but running the show because of how busy Immy was, so Justin decided to move it on as VPC with them in control
Not bad considering I've only been here 2 years lol. The archives can be very enlightening at times. There's some cracking photos of you too Pedro ;)
There's some cracking photos of you too Pedro ;)
i'm not surprised, we had alot more meets & weekend events back in yey olde days lol
Not bad considering I've only been here 2 years lol. The archives can be very enlightening at times. There's some cracking photos of you too Pedro ;)
How do u manage to find all this stuff I go into archive and I just see old threads
How do u manage to find all this stuff I go into archive and I just see old threads
I go on the "who's online" page and watch the google and baidu spiders, they usually turn up stuff from the archives. Then click a thread name I don't recognise.
It was originally www.volvot5.co.uk I got the t shirt!
Sadly, the link redirects you to VPC and not the remnants of the old site. Even the archives get regenerated to the new style. Has anybody got any screenshots of the old layout?
It was originally www.volvot5.co.uk I got the t shirt!
thinking about it i've got the DVD from the Avon meet
They had DVDs back then?
Ah, 2004, I was living in Spain driving a Mondeo 2L Si, with no worries of split liners, or angle gears exploding.
Happy birthday for VPCUK. I was registered on the old site too, I can vaguely remember it before it changed to VPCUK, but that was a long long time ago! :) A quick google on the way back when machine gave me this, the oldest snapshot I can find, from 2002! :D http://web.archive.org/web/20021012055530/http://www.volvot5.co.uk/ Then there is the first ever look at the forum, but not much on there in 2002: http://web.archive.org/web/20021207102800/http://www.volvot5.co.uk/phpBB/ Coming forward a bit gives you this home page from 2004: http://web.archive.org/web/20041216002944/http://www.volvot5.co.uk/ but the forum then converts back to the new style. Oh well a small glimpse back in time for a moment anyway.

The gallery links still work on the 3rd link :)
I joined the forum just after the name change. Ive seen a difference from when joined to now not all for the good.
They had DVDs back then?
Can I get some cake too?
I would love to find out what my original user was when I used volvot5 when I was still at school
I think Tomcat, Pedro & Judge are the 'oldest' regular members.....shouldn't they get a cake or something ;)

Can I get some cake too?
How could I forget....apologies - slice for Wobbly too !!! ;)
1st RWYB as VPCUK.org.... http://www.bigredvolvos.co.uk/galleries/rwyb_aug_2004.htm
I go on the "who's online" page and watch the google and baidu spiders, they usually turn up stuff from the archives.
What do those spiders actually do? I've been watching them for over a year now.... are they real members or people?
They are mainly search engine robots adding/modifying indexes on the likes of Google etc
I would love to find out what my original user was when I used volvot5 when I was still at school
I had an original username on VolvoT5 too! Then I stopped using the site for a while, and when I came back couldn't remember my log in, so set up a new one!
I had a video of Santa pod somewhere, forgot my name was baker on the original forum and black beauty was mine later named Miss whiplash she did look good wonder if she is still alive, cheers for keeping big red volvos active Dave :-)
They are mainly search engine robots adding/modifying indexes on the likes of Google etc
They're handy tho. They often turn up inane twaddle but sometimes you can find some rather interesting stuff ;)
What was the first post about?
Like this for example....
I spotted this as it was a meet at the pub at the end of my road link
I had an original username on VolvoT5 too! Looks like I had a few months gap from VT5 to VPC. I remember joining up around Mar 2004 when my 850 was only 7yr old, but looks like I didn't re register for a while.
What was the first post about?
It was just the forum policy :/ Pretty ordinary considering how many years the forum has run for
Like this for example....

Is that Mike before he was a to55er?
Looks like I had a few months gap from VT5 to VPC. I remember joining up around Mar 2004 when my 850 was only 7yr old, but looks like I didn't re register for a while.
taken from the dvd
Is that Mike before he was a to55er?
Yep and Chris seems to be trapped in some sort if time warp as he doesn't seem to have changed much. Anybody else think Volvolised looks like flatoutPhil?
Yep and Chris seems to be trapped in some sort if time warp as he doesn't seem to have changed much. Anybody else think Volvolised looks like flatoutPhil?
I was thinking that about Chris, think he was even wearing the same clothes at the Softies meet last Sunday. ;)
What was the first post about?
Actually you can view it, just change the post number id in any thread url Or maybe not, looks like it doesn't work.
