The 330s are fast when modded, but even so... Take it back to VT and ask them to look at it! Although that said I heard they are Diesel fans these days so you will need to be careful LOL :)

I'm pretty sure mine is quick as it was, any1 know how fast these 330d r when modded?

Just found this.... Modded 330D.... 0-60. 5.9 0-100. 14.1 Don't know how/what mods.

To be honest, this is not a surprising result. The BMW 330D modded will produce a peak torque of around 470-500 Nm, of which 430 Nm is still available at around 4000 rpm. Since your S60 only has 430 Nm torque anyway, you would have to be going over 4000 rpm before you would have a chance of reining the beemer in. Coupled with the fact that yours is auto, then it becomes much clearer as to why it appeared to be evenly matched up to 90. You will beat him from a standstill, and from about 100 mph upwards. But anything in between, they will be very close. Adam.

Here is a dyno chart which will give you a clue as to what's going on. The chart shows a modifiied S60 D5 versus a modified S60 T5 geartronic. Both were done in 4th gear, and show road speeds for comparison. Image Notice how up to 80 mph the D5 will blow the T5 away assuming both remain in 4th gear. This means that the T5 would need to do this in 3rd, or even start in 2nd and go to 3rd to keep up, while the diesel would probably manage it in 4th, or a maximum of 1 gear change if it started in 3rd. Now, take into account that a modded BMW 330D has another 50-70 Nm extra, you can see why you may have struggled. It also demonstrates why diesels make an alternative performance option in the real world. Adam.

psssst! 19T, race cat and a RICA stage II

Post 52747 by volvotuning on 2005-10-26 16:50:15

Well, assuming your car is running fine, you would need to go 19T so that you can stretch the torque curve further and use the gears. This then means you would need to drive it like a manual to make use of the revs, without the transmission ECU deciding when to change gear for you. Alternatively, get a diesel :) Adam.
GET A DIESEL? what is it with you tractor fans?? LOL
Well, they're quicker than petrols in a lot of cases :) Oh and 45-60 mpg is another reason. That's why! Adam.

Post 52797 by volvotuning on 2005-10-26 19:34:01
you wont be getting that kind of mpg from a tuned 330d!
True. More like 35 mpg when pushed on the 330. Adam.

Post 52801 by dave on 2005-10-26 19:41:53

that helps me justfly the not getting a diesel! dave

Post 52814 by volvotuning on 2005-10-26 21:22:19

Depends. If you push the T5 you will get low 20s and possibly under 20. Adam.
Depends. If you push the T5 you will get low 20s and possibly under 20. Adam.
I often do :) My average at the mo is 20.6mpg - thats cos I rev the bollocks off it. When stuck behind some traffic the other day I just had to make steady progress and it went up to 28mpg :P
