Just as i was reading about martyns crash on the forum, my daughter gets a phone call telling her boyfriend has been involved in an RTA on the way to my house to pick her up, it was just a mile from my house on the A45 (single carriageway) got told he had hit an oncoming car, fearing the worst we shot down and not far from my house we see all the blue flashing lights, fire engines, ambulances were there already then the police turned up, it was a case of both cars on the white line and "bang" they hit one another, lucky for them the impact was on both cars front wings so it wasnt a frontal collision, (thank god) they both lost their front wheels and went skidding off down the road, ending up 1/4 mile from each other,Jamie is only 21 and was proper shaken up, he got seen by the paramedic who said he was ok, gave police a statement, then we were free to go. The other driver was fine also, both cars will be written off.
All i keep thinking about is if they were 6 inches closer and hit head on it would have been a 120mph frontal collision, with major casualties

hope they're all ok mate, best not to think about the what-ifs, everybody walked away and the only damage is tin and plastic.

Glad the occupants of each car were OK, and glad also it wasn't after you daughter was picked up!
As Martyn's collision shows, in the blink of an eye people's life can change.
I am just about to buy my 2 sons (18 and 19) their first cars and it scares the £££££ out of me.
Really wish I could buy them both Volvo's (as they are as fanatical as me!), but not in a position to do that at the moment.
We just hope and pray every time they go out on the road, they return safely.

Scary, I'll be ££££ting myself when the bairn wants something a bit quicker than a gokart. I was into motorbikes when I was a kid so probably a nightmare for my parents

No way frankie this is horrible, be there as much as you can for the lad and make sure he gets behind the wheel of a car ASAP, I almost had to tell my best mate to stop the car on sunday night I felt so uncomfortable in the front seat, I ended up sitting in the back. My dad gave me the keys to the hilux on monday morning and made me drive, I drove the S60R yesterday and made sure I wasn't scared anymore.
Life is vulnerable and every thing can change in a blink of an eye. Thank god he is fine.

Glad everyone is safe and well, these are sobering times and it proves that when it does go wrong, you wont get a warning everytime, love to the family.

I think you are correct about something being in the air, when I was giving my statement it came over the radio a lorry hit a house, I don't no how accurate that is yet but this happened there a few months ago. Also on my wst back to the hospital I noticed a police car and ambulance with there blues on parked beside a field, maybe a car in the park? And one more thing a big iveco van with a trailer pulled out on me when I was passing him so my brake was to the floor. Stay say folks.

this was the other car involved, an expert has looked at my son in laws car and has concluded that the wishbone bolt failed causing the car to veer in to the oncoming car

Wow. Thank god they are alright. Remember my dad coming back from work one day and saying he had a 'bit of a prang' in the car. B reg Cav SRi (my favourite childhood car) Another car had crossed the central reservtion and they hit at around 80mph. He sat down and went very quiet for the evening. Went out and had a look at the car and it looked pretty much like the side of that but wheels still on. Remember him saying for a long time, '6 inches further over and...'. He's not a man easily shaken but that shook him.
