Bought another Volvo tonight with a view to repair/do it up, and sell it. Paid a bit more than I wanted, but should still make a profit on it. :)

A one owner car with 88,000 miles from new interior needs a good clean and a couple of trim bits, engine needs IMO oil pressure switch, boost leak sorting, and aux belt idler pulley (it squeals like a pig) but looking forward to getting it home, and getting it sorted, then tooling around in it for a bit before it goes up for sale mid spring.
So yes, it's a hairdressers car, but it's going in Rachel's name. ;)

I don't think it needs an engine mate, having driven it, the oil light's on nearly all the time, but no noise from top or bottom end, so I think it's just an oil pressure switch. (fingers crossed)

Just hope your right,just stick a pressure guage on it and keep everything crossed,or a blocked oil filter if you are lucky,roll the dice and take a chance,good luck with it.

i havent come across any sensor failures.
i am going for a knackered sump oil pressure valve - it's built into the sump pan.
when they stick it is too high (splits oil cooler) or too low- like this one.
or maybe the pick up pick is blocked if it has had infrequent engine oil changes.

if you have got access to an oil pressure gauge, might be worth taking a manual reading to see if the sensor has indeed gone.
