Good evening all, I'm Ben from Peterborough.
Been in to Fords since I was 17, however at the ripe old age of 21 now I realise there's a bigger world out there than rusty old Blue Ovals :D However I have recently purchased a Puma for a little track project, but we won't go into that.
I drive a 1989 mk4 Escort Popular, mint one owner, 30k miles, but I want something a bit more pokey, and not being one to stick with the norm, I fancy a Volvo! I've also read that you can get some good power from a 740 with not too much work? Some more info on that would be good :)

Welcome to the forum .im sure some peeps will be along shortly with info on the rwd form of a Volvo .from what I have read a 940 would be a better idea .but as I said some should now better than little me lol.

Hi, welcome to the forum. You can indeed get some nice gaines for relativly cheap, but of course it all depends how crazy you want to get :)
In case of a turbo 2.3 it's already easy and fast to turn the boost up to around 10psi. You can do more but that depends on the state of engine, turbo and mileage ;)

Welcome to the forum Ben, I've always had Fords, up to buying my C70, last year, after we bought an S60R for our family car. The Puma should make a great track car, I thought about doing the same with my Cougar, but it was too much hassle, and I can use my C70, which has much more power.
Smithy is the font of all RWD knowledge, the only thing he doesn't know is how to finish a project.

Welcome along Ben, I used to race in the fiesta challenge cup (2 seasons) and a puma was my daily hack, you will have loads of fun on the track in that, sweet handling car.
As for the volvos, you can get good gains for relatively cheap outlay, and unlike the ford the Volvo will cope. Enjoy the banter and knowledge.

me too and i know where there is a lovely 740 turbo saloon at £800, i want it but cant have 2 project cars
