Looks like Chloe our daughter needs a new computer tbh the box thing she's been using was a freebie and then I asked some one to make it up to date this was 2 yrs ago and now its just not doing a thing every time we try to load it up loads of rubbish comes up so I have to exit that then finally loads, then windows wont load says it corrupt so im not messing about sending it away to repair as I want to smash it lol. Any way last year Chloe got a fancy tv for it and key board and mouse so all we need is the box tower thing but what the hell do I get Chloe's only 9 so tbh it just wants to be a low end one and by the time she need technical stuff it would be out of date any way so help please . Thank you

You can still spec Windows 7 builds when buying business machines...............not sure on personal ones.

you can set win 8 to run like vista/7, there's a setting somewhere.

XP>all Anyway i'd recommend ebuyer for a tower, always had fantastic service and great prices. If you have to buy 8 i'd recommend having a friend or shop install 7. win 8 looks like probably the most awkward to use OS they've ever shat out.

When I last bought a pc I was in a rush and bought one from pc world of all places. Acer aspire x3200 £200 and if I'm honest it has been the most reliable pc I've owned. I am more than capable of building a higher/better spec pc but I needed something that day. I've had it for 4 years now and it still runs perfect. They still fetch good money on ebay too. Highly recommended and I'll be buying acer in future.

I just got a box/tower unit from eBay, it was about 200 quid and a pretty good spec. Windows 7 I think. On of my pals has a laptop with Windows 8 - looks like hard work but not so bad once you get into it, plus as above you can change the settings to suit
