Hi and thanks for letting me join.
I picked up a V70r yesterday and drove it home 160miles on 18 quids worth LPG.
Very pleased with car and condition for a 195,000 miler is outstanding.
The guy I purchased it off informed me there was a chap who does cheap and cheerfull chips for the ECU. If anyone knows more I would be grateful of advice. Also, are there any other cheap performance mods I can do to get my big beauty up to 300bhp plus?
Thanks in advance,
Dave

Welcome. Kingsford has done a good job on it.
I so want LPG. :(
Your gonna have to do a bit to hit 300bhp but remember it's only a number. I've basically spent more than you paid for yours since oct not including what I paid for it..
but they are worth it :)

This is the first car, out of over 40, I have bought withouta single, shadow of a doubt. Kingsford talked me around what had been done, insoected it thoroughly myself, drove home 160 miles at over a ton (KM/h obviously) on under 20 quids worth of gas. Cam belt, pump, subby bushes, brakes etc all done and car is as good inside, as out. Well chuffed and challenge is to make it quicker than my FTO mivec! lol. Already found someone to chip and map for well under a ton.

I'm not knocking it at all, just be prepared. Lol
It's a good car & good luck with your mods.

So you got this little beauty :) I've seen this car's progress and it's been in very good hands mate, it'll treat you well.
As for maps (of the ECU kind) be aware that these are not easy to map. There's only a handful of people/companies that can map them safely. For a safe but tested map, expect to pay 150+ for a rica/HLM (if it's a pre ME7) or 250+ for an ME7 car. Cheap maps can give poor results or even destroy the engine.
Technical crap over with...
Enjoy the car, you'll be surprising chavs all day long :)

Big-headed fekka mind you! ;-)
There's a bloke I been put in touch with who can chip the ECU at a really good price and he tried and tested. Will keep you posted as I think it would be hilarious to have a flying tank beat a stock scooby! lol

Mine used to do the local scooby 22B on a regular basis...
...then I got it remapped ;)
you'll be surprised what these old boats can do once you get the hang of them.

You'll have fun in it. As for your aim to be as quick as your fto mivec, if the mivec is standard it'll not be far off now just that the volvo won't 'feel' as fast

Feels like it doesn't pull as well and the top-end clearly not there. My Mivec is running 225 dyno'd at 1200kg mind you so Volvo will have to diet and be mapped lol.
For a normally aspirated engine at 2 litre, the mitsubishi is prety staggering. I have no doubt the Volvo will be kicking it, and stock scoobies arses soon....which I find hilarious!

This is an excellent, modern BRC system with unjectors that cost 169 each. It's the best LPG I have had with almost zero loss of performance over petrol. Cracking set-up.

Thanksall. Kingsford is right, this is a much cooler forum than...ahem... you all been really sound.
As for the V70r. I still love the experience of driving my FTO MIVEC (as I spent 6 months restoring it daily!) but the Volvo, so far, has been a joy to work on, operate, drive and own. No regrets whatsoever and I look forward to spending a couple of weeks (not 6 months lol) getting it right. may even call 'it'...'her' with the passage of time.
The build quality and condition is brilliant, so will be changing to sparco gear-knob and hand-brake in chrome, fixing handbrake, chipping ecu, adding turbo t-piece to boost to 15psi, fitting 960 throttle body, improving air filter and poss adding adjustable thingy. (not too clued with turbos yet, so learning curve)
My mate has a T5r he has totally stripped in a mental manner, shedding well-over half a ton. he wants to drag as standard. Due to lack of weight it pointless him modding engine as power wouldn't get down. I want to get mine to around 330bhp, by whatever means, and give hime a race when Long Marston re-opens. Also wanna see off a few scoobies for practise! lol.
I could only squeeze an extra 23bhp out of FTO with extensive, and expensive, mods so Tuning 70+ (with minimal effort) will be a treat and pleasure on the turbo-bus! Will keep you guys posted and feel free to friend me and do the same.
Bongo.

Actually, I think he mentioned he was on a forum. This guy has even cut the inside of bonnet and doors out. Insanely etensive and laborious mission he been on but it's worked a treat in turning a stock T5r into a mad-fast machine.

Not stopping me. I'll let you know. All I do know is good injectors on LPG are good for 450bhp.
More than ample for me.
