Hello all! :wavey: Bought myself a V40 T4 about a month ago, since then I have been sorting out niggles with the car to make her work properly. I have aims to increase the power and make it subtle and sleek. Project thread will be arriving soon so hope to attend some meets if there are any local to me?! Anyway.. A photo of the beast :p Image The Volvo has replaced my old 'dream' car - Peugeot 306 Rallye, this has to be the first time I have switched to something that isn't French! Image

All t4s are pretty rare now although i see a v40 t4 in your colour everyday, think the owner works just down the road from me. Its in a bit of a sorry state unfortunately.

Don't stay... They're (see Stribo it does work sometimes) all compensating with an extra Cylinder... They are just jealous that a T4 is faster..... Welcome to another southern T4...

(you might wanna do something about the oil return pipe which not only puffed an interesting little ploom of smoke but left a small puddle on the rollers too... )

Post 670064 by RichT4 on 2013-12-16 08:44:28

That video on the rollers is great :D Certainly moved a lot though, do Baker BM do mounts for these? Had a bit of a un-nerving time this morning, pulling up to a junction I put the brakes on, suddenly the pedal went almost to the floor with a grinding noise. Pulled up and put the brake pedal back down and ever since it's working normally. Checked to make sure the callipers haven't fallen to bits, brake fluid is also alright. Any ideas what that's all about?!

Found the latest modification pretty easy, just need to source the bits: VXR injectors An 18T turbo to modify A angled flange exhaust A T5 manifold to cut down and seal up with weld.

No Remap but we are limited to a max 1.2bar boost without one. I hit boost cut on a recent rolling road session(see Southway Automotive thread), but I hit 260 (or 280 depending on the results read) at 4600RPM so I've got a bit in hand. Image As far as costs, I struck lucky on this and paid very little for all the bits off another car. I am not always that lucky as my Airbag sensor just cost me £300 and new engine mounts at £200+. I'm not that bad on the track (honest.).. V70 Graham lived to tell the tail, but he did have a full head of hair when he got in the car... Post 670394 by RichT4 on 2013-12-16 22:44:22

VXR injectors - off of the Vauxhall Astra VXR right?! Are these a straight fit? An 18T turbo to modify - off of what?! A angled flange exhaust - custom made I presume? A T5 manifold to cut down and seal up with weld - Volkswagen or Volvo T5? And what is the advantage to this exhaust manifold compared with the t4's? Sorry for the questions, but there is so much to learn coming from Peugeots. I'm quite impressed with the way you flew past the Scooby. What tyres are best for these estates? I ran Toyo T1Rs on my 306.

Post 670465 by JUDGENINJA on 2013-12-17 14:30:08

I'll apologise now... I don't actually know what each item came from. The only one that I can help is the T5 manifold you have a choice of 3(think) Standard t5 S60R Japanese manifold I believe the Japanese manifold is the best and a T5 one it is the worst, but what you're after is having the right mounting for the larger turbo. 18T ??? V70R AWD??? Injectors --- Smithy might be able to help.. Exhaust - I believe there are only two types straight and angled. I am not sure about the pipework under the car to know what can and can't fit.. Sorry I can't give you a definitive list

Post 670563 by RichT4 on 2013-12-17 18:50:26

Post 670574 by Jamest5r on 2013-12-17 19:02:42

Vxr injectors you can buy for about 40 each yes direct fit, 18t came from the v70r 2wd but come up for sale raley you could use a 16t far more readily available and can be got for 70-120 quid depending on seller condition, s60r is the best mani just take it to a welder get him to chop the end port off and weld shut they go for about 150 quid, Exhausts depends on what turbo you get later ie 16t is angled older ones are straight so get dp to match, you got to remember the t4 block is the same as a t5's just had a cylinder loped off.
Ha! Link to this most powerful T4?
Search for a user on T5D5 called Pyaap. His has run in excess of 450bhp, revs to 9k and has lapped quicker than a Nissan GTR with the same driver if I remember rightly.

Post 670580 by RichT4 on 2013-12-17 19:18:27

I Will keep note of these, Egg crate grill will be first and a general tidy up of the bodywork. Tyres are the ones i'll be also grabbing, so what do you recommend for the T4?
