Two words - celebrity culture. Look at the BBC, a club for the ££££ers. They should be put in a cage in the centre of every village/town/city & let the public sort them out.
I find it even more disturbing that he does not consider himself a paedo! 35 years is too short, he deserves life in a tiny cell with big bubba hanging out the back of him. This country needs a review & defiantly needs the death penalty bringing back after the lee rigby case.

I thought long and hard about this thread yesterday. Yes its a disgusting subject and one I'm personally appaulled by. Many will also feel the same way. Though further to that, to some this is more than a car related site and one of their main social networks. As this doesnt break the rules I'm going to allow this thread to exist in the interests of free speech. I've moved the thread to the adults section to limit its audience. Please do not place specific details of the case on this thread, merely view the external content and share your thoughts if you wish. I would really recommend not viewing the external content or engaging in this thread but its really up to those that choose too EDIT : Just to add (I wrote the above on my phone earlier and hit submit before I was ready) I will be continually evaluating my decision regarding this thread so dont be surpised if it does disappear).

You knew it's contents would be sickening ans yet you chose to read it anyway. everybody has a right to an opinion but we also have the freedom to not read something we know will offend us. just expressing my opinion mate. 2 people asking for the thread to be removed - the thread isn't responsible for the actions of Ian Watkins. nobody's blamed the newspapers or tv for showing the story.
The man is obviously guilty and will serve the appropriate sentence according to the laws of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. He obviously was stupid enough to commit the offences and knew the consequences when he got caught, or did he? Perhaps he had a mental illness that can't be explained, or perhaps he knew exactly what he was doing but couldn't help himself? Either way we don't know and this is one of the reasons the death penalty in the country was removed and should stay removed (someone mentioned this above). What people seem to fail to realise is that the death penalty is seen by some as the soft option, ok the person looses their life but do they then have time to 'stew' and worry about what they have done? No. Do they suffer a long, hostile and boring life in prison where they are made to think about their crimes? No. So by using the death penalty to deal with serious offenders is not going to do a lot to make the person suffer some sort of consequence because once they're dead they'll be none the wiser and it won't matter to them any more. Perhaps a life in solitary confinement with only a basic dietary need and no luxuries might be a better option? That way they really do suffer the consequences of their crimes because everything they had before has been taken away from them. I agree that the fortunes on these people should be divided up between the victims families although I doubt it's little compensation for the victims of murderers. Anyway my point it this, reading the transcript will get you nowhere, the guy has been found guilty, end of story. Debating or discussing his crimes will not get anyone anywhere so perhaps this thread has reached its end!

Obviously you are both right. This is a very sensitive subject, one that turns my stomach and I'd wish had not being posted. Though it was posted and as I said before some may wish to let their feelings be known on this case. We also have to face the facts that for a site like this to be viable there needs to be a social aspect, it cannot just be about cars. Some will use this site just as a place to ask for advice, some will use this site like facebook. If this was just a place to come to ask advice there would be no one to answer, the social aspect goes some way to help protect this site as a car site. Immingham, this is a sensitive subject but I don't think MRP was looking to turn this into a bitchfest. Both opinions are valid and the adult section is an "opt in" section because of the material it may contain. This thread is still open under the criteria I set out in my last post. There is to strictly be no off topic chat here. I personally hope this thread will drop down the list and be forgotten but those that wish to comment under the criteria I set out are welcome to and are not to be persecuted for doing so.

He will at some point (fairly soon) be 'got at' and it's amazing how slowly prison officers respond to the situation when they have been forewarned what is about to happen. I haven't and won't open the link as I can work out for myself that it will make for unsavoury reading. I have the option of reading the details as a member. But, however I chose not too as I was fully aware of the content. I would have been more upset if this topic had been closed, so I believe the correct decision was made. I have been in many situation where I have had to deal with the after effects that child abuse can cause. I do not have a problem with an open discussion on any forum site about how we can stop child abuse and bring it to the attention of certain ignorant Bstards who even now find it hard to believe. Seems to me Volvo owners (I'm one) have a certain mindset, a bit like Beetle owners in the 1960s (I was), and may need to share stuff that disturbs us with our fellows. I didn't read the linked report, because I'm already aware of very many terrible wrongs in past millennia and in the present, and sometimes wish I could erase the knowledge from my mind, but it doesn't seem to work that way. A reporter in Europe just after the end of WWII said anyone who had seen what she had seen would never smile again, or words to that effect. Hope these musings help somehow.

Bravo Martin for defending Mike, I agree with everything you said mate ;) I'm not going to comment on what I think about the OP's post, but to anyone reading this, my Girlfriend has to talk to ppl like this on a daily...yes DAILY basis and attend court with these scum. It's easy to for me to sit at the kitchen table and say to her they should all be castrated and shot etc etc, but I stopped doing that years ago. However, these are very, very sick individuals that are obviously a danger to society. They will, in most cases, never walk freely again and most, if not all will be abused, beaten and sometimes killed in prison. I'm not defending them in any way shape or form, just saying, that this is the society we live in and sadly, the birth of the WWW. makes it all the more easy for these ppl to go about their sick practices. The sooner ppl realize this, then the more this thread will actually attract sensible comments, rather than becoming a slanging match with ridiculous, personal comments.
