Hi All, Just joined VPUK as just acquired T5, which is my first Volvo. The plan is that it will be my "winter car" whilst the TVR sits in the garage. Bit of a gamble, bought it from a friend, as seen, for what he was offered trade in, which was not a lot as done 170,000 miles. Lots of plusses, downside seems to be worn front suspension lower arm bushes (bad enough, I am told to be an MOT failure, when this comes around). I have been told that the whole arm needs to be replaced, is that right or can new bushes be fitted to the old arms? Car is a Geartronic, which seems to work pretty well. I have read threads on this site about changing the transmission fluid, but this doesn't seem to be listed as a service item in the service book. Can anybody advise me if it should be done regularlyand if so when. If not regularly what symptoms do I need to look out for. So far I have only covered about 100 miles in the car and it is really growing on me. So comfortable and practical with a decent turn of speed. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Phil

Welcome Phil. Here's how to change the bushes on the wishbones... click me! The geartronic (gaytronic as it's often referred to) can be a nightmare when it gets old. Usually around 90 to 100k miles. I would say yours has had a new box or an owner that crawls everywhere. If you've no idea when the fluid was last changed, best get it done by a volvo specialist with the correct fluids. If done wrong, with the wrong fluids, it could cost you a new gearbox :( There's a few bits you could do with the engine etc to make sure it's tip-top but we can cover that later. Enjoy the ride ;)

Welcome. A lot of car makers have the autos at "sealed for life" and don't have a service schedule for them, this is what causes most auto failures. Once up to about 90k, i'd recommend a fluid change every other year, depending on your driving.

Welcome to the forum! Unfortunately I can't give much advice on the P2 cars as my experience is with the older generation 850 and P1 x70. And get some pics up haha
