Pencil me in for this one, I'm off that day and the distance isn't too bad (around 2 hours each way). Hopefully I'll get to put a few more faces to names and have a natter. I'll confirm either way nearer the time but it's looking hopeful.

Post 677112 by claymore on 2014-01-03 20:45:09

I might be in a Volvo, I might be in a Mercedes, but I wont be in the Volvo.

Living where I do, I can go to a southern softies meet or a North West, Midlands or Mid-Wales and Shropshire meet. I'm in an odd area of the country, not really very close to any particular group so I tend to tag on to whatever I can and whenever I can.
+1 James It'll be a good opportunity to put a few more faces to familiar names....Looking forward to it.
Meet events are always interesting because when you meet members you've only ever 'spoken' to online, your perception of when you expect them to be like face-to-face is often, but not always, different to reality. Online, you see a 'user name' until you meet the person, then you see 'the' person and suddenly the whole of the online world change afterwards and leaps into 3D. :D

People can 'understand' each other better at meets, for example a conversation face-to-face is worth 100,000 words online.

I'm definitely coming (unless I have completely unforeseen circumstances), rain or shine. I'm going to have to be away by about 4pm, 4.30pm at the absolute latest as I have a Hospital Radio program to Broadcast in the evening in Merthyr Tydfil so I may be slightly over-dressed for a meet (just to warn you all) :D My laryngitis is clearing nicely so I should be able to have a normal conversation with you all on the day. What you reckon on calibration? might need your help with a little tuning after if your up for it bound to need some fuel adding up top any clever person work out how much more air is pulled due to a larger maf?? :)

Post 680425 by claymore on 2014-01-14 22:23:26

the larger maf is not for more air, it's to slow the air down, so that the ecu doesn't hit maf saturation.
the larger maf is not for more air, it's to slow the air down, so that the ecu doesn't hit maf saturation.
Shows what I know lol so how will the map be affected?
Shows what I know lol so how will the map be affected?
If we're lucky, the ecu will compensate within 5 miles of steady driving, if not, it will be a case of re calibrating the injectors and hope that will be enough.

I do hope your change of mind on coming to the meet has nothing to do with my facebook post of last night, I wasn't being serious, just rattling jay's cage for a bit of fun, will be a shame that your not there and as stated in the first post all welcome (regardless of anyones personal forum preference) as we are all on more than one Volvo forum and umpteen different FB Volvo club afaik bet reason your not coming is, your credit card can't handle a battering by the Mrs's in Cheshire Oaks so soon after christmas...lol

Post 680895 by stephenevans99 on 2014-01-16 17:03:30

lol....I know what you mean about Cheshire Oaks, not quite as bad as the Trafford Centre...OMG she can do some damage. It's nothing to do with your FB post mate, I knew that post was tongue in cheek and in good humour BUT unfortunately another didn't see it that way and caused me a little upset. I even pointed out that you were pulling his leg !! I'm easy going 99% of the time but he rattled my cage with what was subsequently posted on a thread. I know threads can get heated and sometimes we say things which we later regret, but I thought sod it...I'm gonna be stubborn and not go to this or next weeks meet either (which is only 5 mile up the road). I want to go to this, but it's the old 'cutting your nose off to spite your face' scenario. My toys have definitely been thrown out of the pram lol.
Will Mr Ringrose be bringing any V70 bits?
Why would an 850 man like you want V70 parts.....lol That will get some people guessing. I hadn't planned one bring anything, as I thought you were tight on storage, but if there is anything you need pm me a list and I'll try and get it sorted, otherwise I'll bring what you want when you need it, as I don't need much of an excuse to pop to Shrewsbury

Just a few hours to go now. I was going to sort the oil change today ready for the trip tomorrow but my oil filter hasn't arrived from PFV yet so pointless doing it until it does. As for detailing the car before the meet, I think this will be a total waste of time because it will be completely filthy by the time I get to Shrewsbury with all the rain and floods.

Post 681785 by ExternalError on 2014-01-19 19:37:34

Thanks James and Graham it really is a nice car just a few things needing to be done to it, I will be speaking to Mr Welche sometime in March I think for a downpipe and popping down to GRN some time in Feb to have them give it a once over and provide me with a list of things that may need doing though I doubt it will be a long list. Really is a stunning car I must give credit to the previous owner he did everything proper and it really shows I'm betting he was heart broken to see me drive off with it. I think my best thing about it though is the colour, haven't seen one like it before and it enhances the whole package. It looks black from distance but when you get near or the light catches it the green shows through nicely. I'm pretty sure you wont like the exhaust though Graham

Great afternoon everyone, thanks for all being so sociable and turning up. It was nice to put some faces and people behind the cars and the forum names as always, I hope I've made some new friends today as well. Sorry my T5 was so filthy despite it being washed before I left, but the journey up from Brecon was somewhat wet and salty. I think we all our cars suffered at the hands of the current weather conditions to be fair. Some photos.............. Image Image Image Image Image Image Image
