My 12 year old son Brandon has been volunteering to do some very unpleasant work in our local area, today he received a bit of well deserved recognition: http://www.blackpoolgazette.co.uk/news/education/brandon-s-big-clean-up-shames-rogue-owners-1-6414515 Here's his FaceBook page which he's aiming at trying to get 500 Likes: https://www.facebook.com/preesalldogfouling Very proud of him....well done son.

It's nice to see a young man like Brandon doing something positive and making a positive impact on the people in his community. He's a credit to yourself, Yong and the people around him, he also sets a good example for other people his own age and I'm really pleased to see that he's got a positive 'can do' attitude. I just wish more kids his age would take a leaf out of his book because the world would be a better place if they did. Give him a huge pat on the back! :B_thumb:

Cheers for the comments and taking the time to have a look :B_thumb: He's a good hearted lad who can also be a stubborn lazy sod at times, but then he is almost a teenager :( Very happy he's doing something really good for the community and I'm very proud of him. Some of the comments left on the newspaper article are bloody annoying, I think some folk think he's going out there with bare hands and deep pockets....these are probably the same people who'll complain for weeks on end about cr@p outside their house and not do a damn thing to clean it up themselves lol.
fair play to the lad, let's hope it catches on.
I would like to think it would but I don't think so the country parks near me the cars pull up tail gate opens dogs jumps out and runs off owners to busy with kids in the car. The only time people will do something is when they get hit by a big stick (fine from the council wardens that they are cutting back on),so it's only ever gets worse. Fair play for having a go but there is always a minority that will never do it,the councils should not fine the owners that don't clear up but give them 20 hours if Community cleaning up of said problem.

Excellent story Steve, I too would be very proud. Always refreshing to see a positive news story, too much bad news these days (albeit the reason is bad obviously!)

Just thought I'd give a quick update on my son's recent community work. Brandon has continued doing his Dog Fouling Challenge and has been given lots of fantastic support and has received recognition by winning Radio Wave/BAE Systems Kids Choice Award where he was able to take lots of his friends to an exclusive party at the Sandcastle Waterpark in Blackpool where they had the entire Waterpark to themselves. He was also nominated by the local Police to be considered for Wyre Council Sheraton Trophy - an award given to one person each year for their work or achievement - there were approx 30 nominations for this award. Brandon won the award which was simply fantastic.....left us gobsmaked lol. This morning Brandon received a letter from the House of Commons, our local MP had heard of his work and recent achievements and wanted to congratulate him.....he can't wait to take it into School. He really feels he has achieved something worthwhile - makes me very proud of him. A few pics: Image Image Image
