Just thought ide say Hi. I'm looking at buying a volvo soon as I fancy a change from my current car. Hopefully, with the help of forum members, I'll be able to decide on which one I want haha. I've got a few models in mind. I'm looking at a t5 model but thats as far as i can plan at the moment. Ideally I'de have a 4wd s40 :(

welcome. as far as I know, there isn't an awd s40 but there's lots to choose from. where in the world are you? maybe someone will will be willing to offer a test drive in their car. most models are covered here so you'll at least be able to get an opinion.

from all th research I've done they produced an awd s40 for the states but in the uk they only made the v50 n awd and they are like rocking horse poo haha. I'm after something with tunability but at a good price, I'll have 4-5K for trade. I really wanted an ex-police s60 but mileage is very high and there are so many mixed reviews about them.

ex plod is ok if you know what you're doing with them ;) graemewelch is on about selling his S60, a truly superb example and already tuned too.

I've looked at the s40 performance on the bsr tuning site, why is it so much slower than most other similar cars? The performance stats are about 1s slower than a c30 with the same hp. I would understand its due to the weight but they have the same 0-60 haha

Yea thats why ive been looking at the s60s but the 2.4s are expensive, how do the 2.3 t5s compare (250 bhp as standard)

Post 692674 by M-R-P on 2014-03-03 09:54:09

The 2.3 is not as advanced, a remap will get it to between 260 and 280 bhp depending on the engine. The 2.4 has VVT on inlet and outlet, wheras the 2.3 only has VVT on the exhaust. The 2.4 also has a bigger turbo. 2.3 is reportedly a stronger block tho.
