Hello. I'm creating this topic after a lot of research regarding the suspension of Volvo S70R. I hope you can give me some advice, because I'm completely confused right now. So, I've a Volvo S70R in which I need to replace the suspension, I want to keep with the original, and until a couple of days ago, I thought there were only 2 suspension options: - the "common" one but specific to S70R - the Ohlins option However I found out and old file with the optional equipment for 850's/70's (you can download it here: http://ul.to/k9i3lfa8) which has even more options in the suspensions, like: "lowering springs", "sport shock absorbers", "sport springs", "dynamic shock absorbers". For the front suspension, it says: "S70, V70, C70, 854 Ch. 16500–, 855, excl. AWD–R, excl. V70 XC" which I don't know if it is excluding only the V70R AWD or also all the R's (page 904). The rear suspension doesn't exclude any car. Anyway, I think I can know disregard this option, from what I talked with some people now, it seems to be only applicable to the non-R versions, which also seems to make sense, the S70R should be already a "lowered chassis" car, so the standard suspension should also be lowered. So, moving on, I search through VIDA and I found there were a lot of springs and shock absorbers options, and the choice was related to the indication present in the VIN plate in the engine bay. Well, in my engine bay, the reference I have is: B112GNL, which, according to page 7 of this document: http://ul.to/8sd65b0c and not the description in VIDA, led me to this (I hope I made the right choices!): Front springs - B1 - white - 3546640 Rear springs - G - blue - 3546285 Front shock absorbers (B1) - 9173850 Rear shock absorbers (1.2)- 9173851 That was fine, but I find it a little bit strange, because the front springs for example, were also applied in cars with the following indications: 1B, 1C, 5B, 6C, 14, 16, 18, W1, W2, W3, K1, K6, B7, 12, A7, C7, E1, E2, F5, F6, P1, P2, Y2, P3. So unless all the R's went out with all of these indications, those springs and shock absorbers were fitted in other versions too. I'm not the original owner of the car, so the suspension may have been already changed before (it is from July 1997 and it has 146 thousand km), it already come with red Koni shock absorbers. When I removed the springs, I realized that the rear springs had the part number printed and it was the 3546285, which matches, but I can't find it in the front springs, and contrary to VIDA, saying white, the front springs seem to have a blue paint, not white. Again, it may have been already changed before. I start searching for this part number spring in the web and I found it as the second most expensive spring (which seems to be a good indicator) in swedishautoparts, but while I was searching in other websites, teilehaber.de for instance, it says that this part number (3546640) doesn't match with the car version. So, can you help me clarify this situation? Can you please share the reference code present in your S70R, does it match with mine (B112GNL)? For the ones that already replaced it before, are these the correct part numbers for spring and struts? Doesn't seem to be very specific for the S70R, and the internet information along with forum discussion can lead to even bigger confusion. As I say, I want to keep it original, the original height, which I think is already lowered for the R model. I may consider Koni shock absorbers, but for now, I'm thinking in a complete original suspension. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks for your time! Best regards.
