Hi my names ashley im 21 and ive recently bought an 1998 s40 t4. :) a little about it:

108k
volvo stamps and mots
full leather interior
eleccy sunroof and windows all round incl heated mirrors
air con
bbs alloys
trip computer
6 cd changer
and you all probably no the rest lol
i swapped the car for my toyota starlet glanza repilca. just a n.a 1.3 with 159k! i thought i got the better end of the deal :D...
...then problems -.- it had an oil leak, the common cam seal, sorted this and a water leak from turbo hose, also fixed.
i NOW have developed a fault in boost. forgive me if ive repeated anything any other thread has covered, but its not boosting properly over 3k, its hesitating almost permanently. i know this is common but ive not read anywhere another part, im having a slight "beeping" noise as its happening. any ideas? apart from this, im very happy and impressed with the car! hope to speak to you all :)

Hehe, starlet :)
sounds like ignition, a stage zero service would probably sort it... Plugs, leads, dizzy, coil, filters and fluids. Change all the vac hoses too.
welcome aboard.

Leads, dizzy and coil mate (unless it has coil packs) are gonna be worth doing.

Coilpacks fail on the T4's quite a lot. Take them out and carefully inspect the insulation on them. Welcome to the club!

If coil packs are failing, then change them both, but most people have said start with the basics and service it.
Most boost problems are vacuum pipes, but you'll need a methodical head to work through them to then move on to the actuator faults.
