New box broken, in less than 30 miles, so no 1/4 tomorrow, it was looking so promising, went for a celebration pint and on the way home the crunching started and in neutral too, even brought the car to a standstill coasting in neutral, not good, will have to dissect it to find out whats failed,what a bummer :slap::slap:

Rebuilding gearboxes is quite a skill,when you see how many components there are inside.
I think the clutch friction plate has broke up.

we'll find out in the later part of the week when I get a chance to rip it again....oh the joy of doing it all again.....will be well practiced at this and earned me strips soon......lol

Postmortem results in and I really need to give myself a swift kick up the arse, as I has become clear that numpty brains here drained the 10v box on removal and then put it to one side for a number of weeks and then didn't remember that I had drained it...!! When I fitted the box, I had decided as I could not find suitable oil for it locally I'd leave it to run on what was in it (the grey matter is not what it was lets say) running on nothing wasn't good and I had thought of just adding oil and seeing if I'd get away with it, but having looked in though the reversing switch hole and seen the mass of small metal fillings in there I'm having second thoughts. So gearbox out and strip down in the vain hope the crown wheel and pinion will be useable in my spare m56 I have here. So there we have it what a NUMPTY I am, can't believe I didn't remember draining it......:troutslap:nutkick:
Its so easily done Adrian especially when your not on with it all the time I constantly have to check and double check things with the gul as its been months since some things have been removed

There was only a P1 R in both auto and manual mate 97 and 98 ...p2 99 and p3 00 were all auto.. But i think i know what youi are saying now lol..

no problem, it'll be nice to get them cleared out the wat. I'm not sure if any of the mob going to Donnington saturday will be able to forward it onto you somehow
