It's pretty foregone but these guys are a laugh and when they get bored testing it, they turn to leaf blowers... ;)

technically f1 use partially electric turbos now since they use the power pack to keep the turbo spinning via an electric motor and extended turbine shaft coming out the back of the housing at 100.000 rpm when off throttle so there is no lag. interesting stuff.......

The turbine housing is at the back of the engine bolted to the exhaust, but the compressor housing is at the front of the engine to keep it cool, which is why the Merc power cars have the advantage this year. That's some clever engineering.

I'm not convinced Merc have gave the system to the customer engines either

I know its not exactly the same, but you go to a Volvo dealer ask for an engine & see what you get

I drive pass amg mercedes race engines in brixworth on the way to work everyday.

Lol

Would like to see them try one of these. http://www.treehugger.com/cars/electric-supercharger-boosts-torque-50-and-reduces-co2-by-20.html Just look at the amps draw on full throttle !.

Some of their latest stuff is funny.
the best was when they stripped out a car to prove how fast weight loss can make a massive difference
just found it, very interesting

electric turbos ???? has bongo returned ????? lol
here's the wireless version....lol http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331151915514?_trksid=p2055120.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
Nah, it's bluetooth! ;)
They hardly give it away, the customer teams pay big bucks for it.
i'm sure given the choice Mercedes would prefer to have a guaranteed performance over "ALL" the other teams
How many leaf blowers would I need to get 300bhp out of my T5? What injectors would I need?
Go for 8 petrol ones mate, blues and if you can find a way of spraying some giggle gas into the blowers, you'll be larfin
