Evo Weekender 2014 June 13th-15th

Well it's back, bigger and better and at a better time of year, with better weather (warmer hopefully). The main event is on Sunday 15th of June the meeting point will be decided closer to the date,when we have a better idea of numbers of cars, as there are a couple of suitable cafe's in the location for a cuppa and bacon sarnie before the fun beings. I'm going to have to change to a maybe now as my wishbone bushes are a bit shot, plans are in action to deal with it but depending on the post and also the availability of someone capable of changing my wishbones over to my polybushed versions that I am getting from Mr Welch (I know I should probably give it a try myself but i'm working the weekend of the 8th June and also I dont want to risk doing something wrong and having to fork out for a new driveshaft.) I dont think I will be able to make it unless everything drops just right.

I don't see why we can't, if I've read what you wrote correctly, all you require is the lower arms swapped over, which is easy enough to do on site saturday morning, there will be enough knowledgeable people about and give us something to do in between bouts of bacon butties

Warning for V-power users the Shell site in welshpool no longer exists from a few weeks ago (hate to think what went into my tank before York and whether it was even shell, let alone V-Power (but that's another story). I've loaded allsorts into the car today, it will be a good test if the nivomats can level her, think if she were a boat the plimsoll line would be severely below the water line....lol. I have a couple of instant bbq's and gas rings etc, fire-pit wood etc to load tomorrow. I sure I've brought too much but I don't envisage leaving till monday/tuesday, as I'm not shifted back in till wednesday night, might as well make the most of it, whilst the weather lasts

What an amazing weekend, I enjoyed every minute :D I keep finding bits of sunburn, I even joined in the spirited driving on my way to the Evo, I ended up doing 20miles up a single lane track, was only just wide enough for the van! :D Thanks to all for arranging it, and all your help :D

Saturday afternoon was spent driving down Welsh country lanes, in particular the Trawsfynydd rally stage, the two olives coped well, but Stewarts S60 T5 was set a bit to low. Again I can't recomend the Syron tyres enough, they're awesome.

My take on the weekend Started off at around 1:30 after Stewart (external error) came to the house, the first 30 odd miles of the journey were a bit of a concern as I had only fitted the turbo on Thursday afternoon and the car was billowing out quite a bit of smoke, but eventually it cleared after it had burned all the oil out of the exhaust, so there then followed a ‘spirited’ drive to Mallwyd garage where I picked up a box of rose joints and arms (not important for this write-up), we then carried on to Shell Island with a bit more hooning on the way ;) . On arrival we said our hellos and put up our tents, that evening was a nice chill out by the camp fire. Saturday Another lovely morning, I went to the cafe for a nice fry up. Then Aid and I set about changing Stewarts wishbones (in there lies a complete new story worthy of a sitcom) then followed a bit more of a chill session while we waited for Jim and Emlyn to arrive, Jim duly turned up but no Emlyn?[FONT=Wingdings][FONT=Wingdings][/FONT][/FONT] At around 3 o clock we went out for a gentle drive around the Welsh countryside ;) and arrived back about 3 and a half hours latter Needless to say I had a big grin on my face and Stewart had ££££ all down the side of his car (he must try harder to keep it on the tarmac :( ). The evening was spent on the beach with a bar-b-q and a big fire (has to be the coldest fire I’ve ever sat next to. Sunday Another glorious morning and another great breakfast most of the morning I was trying to get a decent charge into my phone (leaving the ignition in position 1 for 3 hours, which ment I had 3 hours of video footage of a stationary car which over wrote all the previous days brilliant drive) The afternoon was a gentle drive up to the Triangle and as they say, the rest is history. [FONT=&]Epic weekend which is going to be very hard to beat.[/FONT]

Well after seeing MRP's how to guide on changing wish bones I think he needs to add something in just to help col and ade's in their senior years, i'm not going to say to much as I respect my elders but lets just say volvo put L and R on the wishbones for a reason and after fitting one wishbone having 2 wishbones with L on off the car was a bit of a head scratching moment, any way so after realizing the error what took almost an hour to do one took 30 mins to redo the wrong one and do the other one. I took the car out for a spin after and no random steering lurches and the car behaved perfectly I didn't get to take to many photos as my battery was almost dead but here's the 2 I have, I'd just like to say no angle grinders were used to perform this task. The arm swap saga, all thats I'm going to say is I fitted the part I was given....lol and after some serious effort it fitted, then came the questioning of what we had left to fit to the otherside. It was decided that Graeme couldn't have possibly sent Stuart to arms the same so an error must have been made.
