no wonder they bottled it as soon as the Typhoon's were launched, there was no way they could of outran or out maneuvered them lol

Apparently this kind if thing happens quite regularly.
Apparently this kind if thing happens quite regularly.
just dont think it would be very clever to get involved to much lol
Wonder how close, close is in aviation terms.
Aye - Typhoon saw them being developed as I grew up at BAE Warton (I was born on the Fylde Coast). Still not a patch on the Lightening

just keeping us brits on our toes gav

A jet engine with somewhere for the pilot to sit, I'm torn between that and this as my favourite aeroplane:

SR-71 - leaky but epically fast. I loved the fact you could fire an air-to-air missile at one & it would outrun it.

Just glad the Yanks didn't go up to say hello to them !.:hbomb:

no contest, SR71 everytime. I was lucky enough to see it in flight at an airshow many years ago
Just glad the Yanks didn't go up to say hello to them !.:hbomb:
their'd of shot the Typhoons :hidesbehi
SR-71 - leaky but epically fast. I loved the fact you could fire an air-to-air missile at one & it would outrun it.
The Sr-71 was originally built as an interceptor, the Phoenix missile that where used by the F14 where designed for it originally. Was very, very leaky when cold though, it would sit on the runway and the fuel would just leak out of the gaps in all the panels. Epic, epic machine though, I love walking around the one they have at Duxford.
Oh and this stuff with the Russians?.. Reminds me of the glory days in the late 70's and eighties when they used to try and invade our airspace a couple of times a day, they made a game out of it, all the aircrews used to take pictures of each other from their planes. I'll only start to get worried when they try invading our airspace with fighters.
In no particular order my favourite 5 are SR-71 Blackbird All Electric Lightening A10 warthog F16 Fighting Falcon F14 Tomcat.
In no particular order my favourite 5 are SR-71 Blackbird All Electric Lightening A10 warthog F16 Fighting Falcon F14 Tomcat.
All good choices, but no Hawker Harrier, or Vulcan?
Harrier although great and earned its wings in the Falklands is a bit slow - and the Vulcan does deserve an honourable mention. Used to watch it do vertical climbs at Blackpool Airshow as a kid. A10 warthog because of the gun F16 because of the shape & the recline seat pushing 9G in the corners F14 because it has never been shot down - period (AFAIK)
Nothing will happen. All media pish designed to scare monger. On a more interesting note. My faves are the V bombers and the Euro fighter. Both awesome planes (plus a soft spot for the Harrier)
Ooooh, forgot about the Vulcan! I was working last year when it was at the Welshpool show :( Sounds like we need a VPC airshow outing :D
Trust me you get stick of fast jets working with then all the time! As mentioned just scaremongering... Even the Russians aren't silly enough to push their luck too far! ;)

Big,big fan of fast jets. I went to many airshows when I was younger. Best airshow I ever went to was at Mildenhall as that was the Uk airbase for the Blackbird, actually got to see it take off and do a few fast passes once. Also once saw three Vulcans take off together, that was possibly the loudest sound I've ever, ever heard. Fave planes would be F14 Tomcat (I wonder why).. SR-71 Aurora (It exists, but they wont confirm its existance until they've replaced it) B2 Spirit Mig 31 (snake head manouvere at an airshow is a heartstopper).
Take your pick! http://www.airshows.org.uk/2014/calendar/uk-airshow-calendar.html I'll bring me Dad :) he's pretending he's a gardener now but really he can kill with a trowel at 100 metres. I'm only having a laugh - he was in the ROC for years until about '95 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Observer_Corps
It'd have to be one of the proper airshows, ie.. Riat, Farnborough etc...Shame Mildenhall isn't on anymore.
It'd have to be one of the proper airshows, ie.. Riat, Farnborough etc...Shame Mildenhall isn't on anymore.
....Sunderland :) I noticed an air museum on the way to York Raceway
Sunderland?..Lmao.....
http://www.sunderlandlive.co.uk/airshow-2014 No, really Sunderland International Airshow is now in its 26th year, with a massive choice of exciting activities and entertainment on the ground as well as all the action in the sky, there is something for everyone!
In no particular order my favourite 5 are SR-71 Blackbird All Electric Lightening A10 warthog F16 Fighting Falcon F14 Tomcat.
What about the F-4 Phantom, awesome bit of kit on take off
