I've mentioned this previously to a couple of people, but is anyone up for this, we'll be taking both cars, and hope to break into the 13s in the R (it always goes best at North Weald as there's less grip), hopefully I can get back into the 14s in the C70. :wallbash:
Here's a link to their website, though doesn't give a great deal of info:

Looks like there's going to be some serious competition for fastest 850R of the day, though only one has a proper gearbox. ;)

I am sorry but I can't bring myself to run on this "track" again, due to the appalling traction & possible the even greater embarrassment of either running out the wrong finish line or alienating other VPCUK members.
Post 715130 by merc85 on 2014-05-28 09:17:42
Tbh everyone racing will suffer the same traction issue surely but if u have had bad luck there that's fair enough.
Whats Frankie racing?

Not quite everyone ;) TBH the lack of grip at North Weald helps the R, it doesn't bog down so much. The C70 will suffer though.

In two minds whether to come now, looks like my valve guide seals have given up the job (or the turbo) it's smoking quite bad even between gear changes.

I'd like to say one thing about this meet and it happens every single year, is why aint the club members all together on the track? they are all over the place it makes for less fun all spread out hardly any interaction between some people, yet its the same every year, why go to a club meet if you're on your own?

To be fair mate, we all turned up at different times, so it was going to be hard to all be in a group, and because the wait time is so long, unless you have a big problem with the car, you're not going to pull out of the queue( I changed my spark plugs whilst I was queuing) so positions won't really change. Also the same happens at Pod, and Avon, people arrive at different times, so are at different places in the queue, though at least at Avon you can chat to those not running.
Anyway had a great day, new P.B. in the R (13.89), and a 14.7 in the C70 on a track which doesn't offer much grip. A big thanks to Annemarie, and Graham for sausage and bacon sarnies on route, and was great to catch up with in no particular order; Lee and his Dad Paul, Charlesboya Gav, Kingsford, Frankie, Blackdog (briefly),and Sarkey San, (sorry if I missed anyone).

maybe people ahead should give up their place to be able to race each other, then when not racing be able to talk/banter with each other withougt walking half a mile away from your car??

yeah I had a nightmare today first run I spun 1st and 2nd hitting the rev limiter in both then bogging into 3rd ran a 15.9 @ 97 mph!!.... noticed a small hissing from under the hood....2nd run bogged the start half way down the track had the rad light come on but squeezed a 15.3 at 98mph!! found the silly little rubber pipe at the back had split and emptied my coolant and I gave but after sourcing a bit of fuel line (thanks fitzy) I spent a fair while sorting that out,re filled with anti freeze (thanks stribo) 3rd run bogged again ran a 15.3 @ 99 mph got back to the pits for investigation and found my fuel pressure was at 2.5 bar!! so after a quick tweak I gave it one more go and.............................................run a 14.8 @ 104 mph :)
not overly impressed but after speaking to a fair few people, including some big hitters,it turns out they were losing about a second on their times today,so I take some comfort in that fact and look forward to racing at a proper track as I will never set foot on that skid pan again!!!

Glad you got into the 14's mate, on a grippier track you may get near my best time in the C70. ;)

Like I told you mate, go back to whites with the standard fuel regulator, then go from there. If you're over fuelling you'll be losing power, as much as if you're underfuelling, though the engine will be a bit safer. ;)

With only three runs thats 5-1/2 hours of waiting for less than 50 seconds of fun.

they have one bike only meet a year, bike fest in july and one car only meet, which this year is volks fest (its normally the outlaws but very under subscribed). this sunday there were only 20-30 odd bikes, normally there are 2 to 3 times as many.
it did seem to run slowly which is partially those eliminators i guess and other delays.

There's a lot to be said for a good setup and a good map, can make a hell of a difference to the way a car runs. Watching you on the 1/4 @ North Weald in the R you power launched yours and from what I've seen of American drag racing this makes a hell of a difference and Gav didn't do that, a little more mechanical sympathy you see ;)

Well that depends on whether your more interested in driving home or potentially achieving a good time, that aside it still doesn't discount the higher boost pressures on a larger turbo that you were running compared with Gav ;)
