The V50 Est requires two new front tyres. Tyre size is 215/45R18 The car is used for short runs during the week and motorway driving at the weekends. What do you lot recommemdate ? :)

black rubber ones lol...........what sort of budget you spending on tyres?

If you are not in any particular hurry whilst driving then i used to get great road feedback from Dunlop sport maxx, hard wearing and good dry/wet grip.. we have just swapped to pirelli p zero but they wear a little quicker.

I've just put Verdesteins on the front of my V40 and versus the old tyres they are brilliant. Only downside is that I ended up paying £300 for just two tyres. With the P6000s on the back the oversteer is massive....

Goodyear Eagle F1s or not a bad all-rounder is the Goodyear Efficient Grip Performance. Both in 225 40 18 are £100 a corner so similar for your size I'd imagine.

Just had Continental Premium Contact 5s all round on mine, super smooth and grippy Had some Dunlop Sport BlueResponse on before that and they were terrible.

I like avon zz3's, because they are fantastic in the wet. The zv5's are better in the dry though. The continental contisports i had on my 540i were very good in the dry, but the rears didn't seem to last very long ;)
or grip well on traffic islands lol
They were brilliant in the dry, but it had p*ss*d it down in the night and left the road greasy.........well something like that anyway.

Avon zz3 very good

Post 712274 by deathrider311271 on 2014-05-16 21:06:47

im running zv5s all round and have had no problem with them in the wet or dry, a very predictable tyre imo and lasting very well with 10k under their belt already and only half worn.

tbh the only reason i bought them was because it was buy 1 get 1 free at national tyres lol. i went in for some continentals. Im not exactly a slow driver either wet or dry and as said no problem at all

Falkens seem ok on my S40 but I am running all season so I don't have to put winter tyres on.

I have Avon zv5s on my 940 and v40 just bought to put in the 17s .the stock 15s have toyo proxys tr1s and they seem pretty good too .ive used zv5s for years and always liked them .

Post 712312 by martybelfastt5 on 2014-05-16 22:43:54

have zv5s now havent tested and wont lol sold my wheels tho i do find the sidewall very chunky and bit bulky for 45s as they are xl sidewall

Post 712317 by Biff on 2014-05-16 22:58:03

My toyo tr1's are doing alright wear wise. Great for grip on both the type r & the V70R. I can't vouch for any other model of toyo though as I have had a set egg on me in the past. Reasonable prices also.

Ive got Pnero's on mine alround, good grip in all weather but wear quickly, and are a little noisy

I'm using Falken Fk452's on the M and done over 10000 miles and still plenty of tread left and great grip in the wet and dry. There replacements are now the fk453's which is what I'll be putting on next.

I did one track day on them, and replaced them with Vredstein Ultrac Sessanta's. Wet and dry grip was crap imo on the Falken's, i'm suprised that's the tyre you've got on the M3.

Also got them on the wife's Audi.

i used to run pirrelli p zero rosso on my s40. but well expensive. so i changed over to falcon and was very impressed. a 3rd the price too and lasted so much longer and grip was good too.

Post 713629 by M-R-P on 2014-05-22 10:35:08

I had rossos for a while and found them to be pretty poor tbh. They only really gripped when I got them red-hot and in the wet they were bloody lethal - couldn't get any power down coming off roundabouts and that was before I got the remap!

Post 713642 by RollingThunder on 2014-05-22 12:50:18

I swear by UniRoyal RainSports. RS2s were awesome in all weather, really good in the wet as you'd expect. Got new RS3s on the V70R and they're also very good, but I prefer the RS2 TBH. Only went for the RS3s are they're not directional, whereas the RS2s are. They're cheap too which is nice.
