No mate, I'm getting pissed of tbh. The guy at the bodyshop has been on holiday for 3 weeks now. He should be back today, i'm giving him 2 weeks to get it finished or I'm taking the car as it is, an I'll take it somewhere else. I'm not really getting a huge amount done, but I made the mistake of saying that I wasn't in a rush and 2 months later, it's still sat there. It's taking the piss now.
The tax and MOT have both run out since it's been there, so it's currently sorn :-(
On a positive note, once it's back I have a definite plan of what I'm doing with it, and I have the money just to crack on and get the whole thing done.
The S60 is 100% going. That'll have to be broken, it's the only way I'll get any sensible money from it. A few of those parts will end up on the 850.
Already had an offer higher than that and turned it down.
The car is worth so much in parts. It's highly unlikely it will be sold as a whole.

Reading between the lines, Rob doesn't think you'll get get over £6K for yours in parts, but I can see why HWMNBN, or Dalhousie has struggled, he's asking for £70 for a set of used Atacama mats, then there's £9 postage on top. I know there are parts he can get good prices for, but like the Atacama interior he couldn't sell, some things are too much for what they are.

i sold off all the standard bits to upgrade so it would have cost me to put her back to standard. either way some peeps dont wanna pay the price for a Well sorted, properly maintained car.
Someone could buy say a s60r then spend the extra ££s getting to to the same standard as Chris's car, i reckon it would cost them more than if they just paid what for instance Chris would like for his one imho

I know that feeling but it's what makes you feel happy at the time, I wouldn't change the route I've taken with the car if I was given the choice again and I'm certainly proud to confess I'm a petrolhead junky and not a coke head or alcoholic...
I have to say from the owner of potentially one of the very few great and well sorted examples of an S60R to be breaking it in favour of keeping the 850 is a hell of a statement to phase 2 owners and imho mirrors what I've heard in other corners...

no that quite correct, mate but alot on here dont apreciate how much effort and expense some peeps put into there car to get it to its current standard, Blacky for instance 5k, ive already spent £700 on my R ontop of buying it and thats being in the trade,
10-12k i doubt would scratch the surface with Chris's car, if his anything like andy anyway.

Do you think I'm a moron or something? I've priced up the parts at sensible prices.
I got back over £8k on my S70 when I broke it. I know what parts are worth, what I can sell them for and who I can target. I don't buy cheap ££££. Nothing I put on any of my cars is cheap, or a compromise. The front mount intercooler on the S60 cost £1000. The front brake pads cost £300. The rear brake pads cost £250. The tyres cost £1000. Just the tank for my Water Injection cost £200. Would you like me to go on?
I am uninterested in your opinion, when you have no clue what you are talking about.

The money I`ve ploughed into my over the last few years is unbelieveable :) and I`m still ploughjng money in it but I`ll never see all that money back.
I do it as a hobby and not a way of making money in the future.

Absolutely, at the end of the day it's my hobby. By the time I've sold it off - have I wasted the £10k I won't get back? Or have I had my enjoyment out of it for 2+ years and now moved on to bigger and better things? I say the latter, but opinions vary!
The S60 ticks pretty much all the boxes. But for an enjoyable drive, even the most sorted P2 isn't a patch on a sorted P1 for grin factor!

Nor do i, or the other peeps ive mentioned but its a fact there alot of people on here would rather not buy a Sorted car in the 1st place, theyd rather buy the parts separtly and over a long period of time to try achieve a similar end result. this may suit them if they enjoy doing the work themselve or cant afford to buy the right car in the 1st place.
Because of this quality moded parts on these cars achive a good resale value and often out weigh what peeps are prepared to pay for the complete car

And that's exactly where I sit with the expenditure on mine, it's the grin and enjoyment factor that the money buys not profit, although it would be nice to get some back when it sells, I personally would rather see someone enjoying the car than break it but then I never have been much of a business/profit orientated person and will probably always have that attitude towards my cars.. Lol

I would expect to get around £10k in parts by breaking it. However a reasonable amount of bits will go into the 850 which will save me money. I'd take £8k for the car as a whole to save the hassle of breaking it. I haven't bothered to advertise the fact it's for sale/getting broken as I knew what the reaction would be. I just mentioned it to a couple of people who knew about the car.

But for a trip across continents, the P2 is a far superior car, especially the R as the 4C gives the best of all worlds. I know what you're saying though Chris, and my C70 is by no means a sorted one, but the driving position is far better, though being a C70 you do sit lower which I love, and you do feel more at one with the car. Around a track, the R is easy to drive, just floor it out of a corner, and it'll sort itself out, the C70, you have to balance the throttle until it's going in a straight line, then you can floor it. Both have their merits, and their faults.

In the right hands the S60R, especially one with uprated brakes, tyres, ARB's etc etc is a hell of a tool on a track. A 350bhp S60R in the right hands is equally as fast, if not faster than a 400+bhp P1 on a track. It is effortless, unfortunately a tad boring. The S60 has well and truely hung up it's track boots, since the arrival of the Accord.
I've been on many track days with Ashok in his S60R, and in Tims hands it is more often than not faster than almost anything else out there, 911's, elises, m3's, you name it.

Absolutely mate, I know the market for someone to be spending £8k for an 11 year old Volvo S60R is not only small, its more or less non existent! Why I haven't bothered putting it up for sale. If it takes me 6 months to sell off all the bits, it's no big deal.
I sold the bulk of the S70 to people I know on T5D5 before it was even broken. Once word gets around it doesn't take long.

No, not necessarily mate. I ended up selling most of the S70 stuff by word of mouth, once people caught wind that I was breaking. I just know more people over there, and more people there know what has been done to my cars. Plus, Tims a handy person to know as well, he's working on these cars every day, and knows who wants/needs what.
I'll sort out a list of the goodies, and send it over to you.

When someones opinions are different there are accused of thinking they are a moron or no nothing.

I have spent weeks driving myself nuts with what I would replace it with. I have considered everything from and XFR or Sv8 Jag to an M5 or M6, an E46 M3 or an E92 M3, S8's, Range Rovers, you name it. It's all become a blur. Everytime I look at it, I think how much of a nice car it is, and think I must be mad to break it, especially when I work out how much money and effort has been sent on it.
I'll start a thread soon with a 'to do' list!

Dream3r (John), on T5D5. Live mapped on the road with input from Tim. I won't get involved, I don't have a clue! I'm thinking about keeping the boost to a max of 1.4 bar for longevity/reliability. It'll just be a fast road car, I can't see it going on a track again.
Dream3r (John), on T5D5. Live mapped on the road with input from Tim. I won't get involved, I don't have a clue! I'm thinking about keeping the boost to a max of 1.4 bar for longevity/reliability. It'll just be a fast road car, I can't see it going on a track again.
That sounds like a good plan.

Sell it or break it mate. When you start thinking of a replacement, the itch won't go away. You'll fool yourself into spending more money on the R, and soon down the line the itch will come back again and you would of wasted more money. Your list of cars covers a broad spectrum in terms of outlay. What tick boxes does a replacement car have to fill?

Great news mate, as much as I'd like parts off your's, I prefer to see it kept in one piece.

Perhaps you're right, I have given that exact same advice to people before! Which makes me a bit of a hypocrite! But I have made my decision (believe me, it's been hard! Which is ridiculous I know), and I am going to finish the car so it's 100% perfect. Maybe I'll keep it another year? Maybe 2, I don't know. Another couple of grand thrown at it will be lost money for sure, but it's my hobby and I get enjoyment out of it.
The budget I was looking at spending was anywhere between 15 to 20k. All of those cars can be had for under £20k. The E46 was more of a replacement for the Accord, it may still happen, but I have my doubts as to whether it will be as a reliable track car.

Great news! Certainly too good a car to break, glad you've seen sense Chris :)
