I've been away with Audi, but I'm back with the Volvo crowd!

Hi everyone, Just wanted to introduce myself on here. My name is David, but you will see me as dingbat29. I had a Volvo V40 some years back, but then swapped to an Audi A6, which I loved, and it wasn't without its niggling electrical glitches. But now its time for a change, so we have come back to Volvo, with a 59 plate V50 R-design, 1.8 petrol in silver (38,000). And I love it. I think it looks very smart in its R-design body kit. I like to keep abreast of things and be able to get the low-down on any info to do with my specific car, so joining this forum was a must for me. I have just a few niggles that I need to get ironed out, such as the aircon does not seem to work. Its going in tomorrow, I really hope it will be addressed under my warranty. What I am disappointed about, . . . 1. I can't understand for the life of me why there is no USB/Aux input. Having done a lot research on this, it would seem that if you have the phone kit, which I do, you then won't have the USB. And also, if you have the basic audio, (single CD), which I do, then you have no Aux connection on the back or button on the front of the head-unit, thus making any adaptation more complex and more expensive, which I feel has a lot to do with the fibre optics. I have been looking at the Grom and the Denison, which look to do the job, but both in excess of £300. . . . 2. I have no trip computer. I had this on my 1997 V40, so why not on a more modern car. I suppose I should be grateful it has power steering!! But aside from these 2 grips, I am very happy with the car. Looking forward to trolling this site and conversing with some of you at some point. Thanks for having me. David (dingbat29)

Welcome aboard :) Not sure why it doesn't have a trip computer, being an R design, it's not the poverty spec model so should have it in there somewhere.

The info button only tells me the DSTC is on. Nothing else. The manual suggests it was an option. David

You might be able to get it activated by a stealer for a nominal fee..
