A Kiwi in Wales and a Volvo Virgin...what could go wrong???

Hi All. Well, I'm in need of moving on my current estate and moving into something with more character, performance and room...enter stage left the Volvo 850 or V70 :viking: I'm a long time car fanatic and usually always end up altering my cars in order to extract more performance all round, however I will not be going mad on the Volvo front as the car will be used as a daily driver for my businesses (I'm a gardener and a purveyor of collectables/antiques/industrial/retro/vintage wares). I've always had a soft spot for 850 R's...but a V70 with some tweaking would also do the trick methinks! If anyone has any info on cars currently for sale and what to look for I'd be most grateful and can readily buy virtual pints! Thanks and all the best, Burnsie.

Where in wales are you dude? My advice would be if you want to tune it, go manual. Good luck finding a manual 850r though. I'd personally avoid awd cars after being bitten myself. Good results can be found although they do like to bend a rod & the auto boxes like a flush as volvo said they had a lifetime between changes. They lied.

Hi Biff. I'm in Welspool, just outside of town in the middle of nowhere :-) Thanks for the heads up on the auto's...I'd heard the very same recently. I do prefer a third pedal, as does my good lady, so autos are more than likely off the menu. Any performance 'enhancements' will be minor. Exhaust, induction and perhaps a remap. Then pads? Then...???lol Cheers, Burnsie. [QUOTE=Biff;716271]Where in wales are you dude? My advice would be if you want to tune it, go manual. Good luck finding a manual 850r though. That's about how it go's... You can chase power with various volvo holy grail parts such as big turbos etc, they love a 3" down pipe & decat but tuning also depends on the year of car you go for. Pre me7 cars are t5's up to 1998 & these are easier to tune to big figures unless you want a newer p2 v70 which is made of ford parts which some dislike. Welshpool isn't far from a few members on here, if you got a car you'd have a few localish meets. Good luck mate. I've been looking for a nice manual t5 for a few months now but I'm fussy after my 300,000 mile v70r bent a rod playing with a focus st. You live & learn. Lol

:welcome: - I am not far from you in Telford & my in-laws live not far from Llanfair Caereinion so I go up Welshpool way quite often. There is a weekender meet up in a week for the Evo triangle. I have a 400 bhp C70 but the boot space is not a commodious as the estate, however I do like sayin' it out loud. Enjoy the ride.
