What time are folks getting there Saturday?

Post 724612 by stribo on 2014-07-17 23:48:56

About 9.30, so we've got time for scrutineering before kick off at 10. :D Still undecided which car to bring, C70, or Soarer. C70 will be quicker, Soarer will be easier as auto, though I doubt it'll get into the 14s, it'll sound the part. Anyway, C70 hasd its MOT on Saturday, so if it fails, there won't be a choice.

I've got the bbq problem sorted, work has big old unit which will double as a fire pit type thing afterwards too. If we don't need it however let me know is its a heavy beast to lift lol.

Tomorrow's starting to look doubtful for us, took the Soarer for new front tyres this morning, and all bar one of the soft as ££££ tuners nuts that were on the n/s stripped, making for an interesting journey home, and the C70 has just failed its M.O.T on front brakes, and bloody number plates, because the lettering is 3D which is no longer allowed. :wallbash: Going to try and source some wheel nuts for the Soarer this afternoon.

Just got back, what a bloody drive! Ironically bumped into my neighbor on the A14 too! Absolutely epic weekend, thanks for allowing an "outsider" back in! :) I look forward to seeing the carnage that was, certainly drank enough ale and ate enough to feed the masses between us! I shall leave you with this video of Wobbly Dancing and a rather strange conversation in the background about "spit roasting" mother in laws?!?!?! Photos to come... Fantastic weekend, amazing weather ( not that the forecast looked too good before we left ), super company that never fails to entertain, good to see some new faces too, great mixure of cars running on the sunday, mk1 escorts putting our volvo times to shame and a very nice mk1 fiesta with rwd scoobie power running low 10's, pic's and 'the Vid' currently uploading, so I will drag in some good ones and the rest will be on flickr for all to browse.

:stupid: I had a great time & whilst the challenge to beat Dean's 13.3 did not fall my way, there was so much more that was great. I especially enjoyed the BBQ food courtesy of Paula & Pete. The homemade chilli jam was lovely, as were the kebabs. Little did I realise what we were expectling later. That trout! Blimey if that was the caught one then I can only imagine the scale of the one that got away. The late night dancing lesson wasn't half bad either - plus the fact that the old skool Ford peeps blamed the FTO group for all the noise. Speaking of which, thanks also to Emlyn for the blue light loan. We will not be out-done or out-flashed by a bunch of jap-crap LOL. I will dig out the pics later. As for the performance. Can't really complain. I did a PB - 13.76 @109.58. Still a way to go get into the 12s & with family responsibilities I guess it will probably stay like this now for the rest of the year.
Call me paranoid but I get the feeling that people don't reckon much to my 13.7, like it was a bit poor for the spec?
From what I have seen at Avon and done at york this year no body is doing very well to be fair, we have all struggled with trying to get the times down. It's going to take a fair few runs before you get the best time you can out of the car, your PB should be enough encouragement to keep going as it proves your moving in the right direction, it's practice you need now, to find that sweet spot in your launch and the times will follow, so chin up mate your getting there, plus Betsy looked good and sounded great.

Just need to get it off the line better dave. If you can get a 2.2 then you'll be doing 13.4s, its just practice. The car certainly does shift once its going, from where i was it seemed to be accelerating much faster on the 2nd half than any other volvo there.

From what i've seen, on a roll, its a seriously quick car. I'd of though on a motorway slip road, it would surprise a lot of people. You need a day when its not busy, so you can get a lot runs in. Having to wait 30mins between runs does not help.
