Tempted by a ricer.

A bloke that's currently working at the site I'm at has a Toyota (Lexus) Soarer, which he's currently selling for £800. It's the 4L V8 (which only produces 256bhp :slap:) but I've always loved these cars, and the chance to get one for such little money is tempting. It's got a crease in the rear o/s wing behind the wheel arch, but isn't really noticeable the front wing has a small ding as well, and the drivers door card needs replacing, but overall it's in good condition. The only problem is it's auto, and slower than both my C70, and our R, though it does drive nicely. I'm worried if I get it, I'll never use it, as we'll be keeping the other 3 Volvos, so it won't be a replacement, but an addition to our fleet. Any thoughts welcome. The thing that's really drawing it to me is the exhaust is straight through, from the engine to the back, no cats, and only straight through boxes at the rear, and it sounds immense. ive always liked the look of these,and going by the video it doesn't look the slowest thing in the world,i wonder how difficult it would be to do a twin turbo it or even a supercharger lol

yep all the supra boys go single turbo bigger power have a freind runs a supra 800bhp on a switched map its 1070 or similar lol sounds like a bag of spanners on tickover lol

Been in the twin turbo 6 pot version and it's like drifting in slow motion. Gutless V8 with no blowers? Nah, great noise or not, if you wanna get the ricer thing out of your system, you can have the starlet for 500 :)

Carefull with the suspension, the v8s had electronic dampers and aren't the most reliable now (they are an old car after all). Wanted a 2.5, years ago but the insurance put me off, so i ended up with a t4 instead. Even though the v8 isn't the quickest, it can still go at a decent speed and they do sound great with a good exhaust. They can suffer from "blinky" dash as well.

Buy it manual conversion will be worth 5 8 grand but you'll have to take that spoiler off and stick it on your c70 so everyone with there R's can laugh about being beaten by a hairdressers car. Go team C70 whoop

So, temptation got too much for me today, and this now sits in front ofn our house :D : Needs a bit of tidying up, inside and out, but nothing major, drives really well, definitely doesn't feel like a 23 year old car, goes well enough, and the noise, well, I'll never tire of that, though the neighbours might. ;)
