Can't believe my S60R is due its 1st service with 12k nearly up after only 5 mths. Got a quandary maybe you guys can offer some views ------ should I go back to the supplying dealers or have my own workshop guys do it?
Got no warranty related issues with the car so seems to be just straight service while my own workshops are fully trained & wanting to do the job (guess why?). As a business we are accredited to do warranty work on Fords & Mercs so no back street boys & parts can be OE or not? It also helps being the MD - no one will take the !!!!
If I use own workshops any views on what parts to use and should I take chance to fit ITG Filter?
Cheaper option is obvious but I'm sitting on fence - HELP PLEASE......

Personally I'd take it to Volvo, but thats just me. Depends how long you want to keep the car? If you sell it in under 3 years people may be very put off by the fact that it hasn't got a Volvo or even Volvo Specialist service history!
Have you got a quote to have the service done at Volvo?

If you plan on keeping car for a considerable time have your guys do it stamp book and use OE or Volvo supplying manufacturers parts. If however you intend to move car within say 2 years let Volvo do it, cost of servicing due to high mileage gaps now quoted by manf. will make costs neg. and your trade in at dealer for another new car will or should be higher. Only my opinion.

Volvo service history for at least 5 years - helps resell the car.
Mine is now at 90k and I will be taking her one last time just because I've not had her that long and want everything checked.

I work for Volvo so would obviously say Volvo.
But on a serious note the S60 R's are one of if not possibly the most complex cars on the road with regards to electrical systems, I would seriously recommend letting a dealer look at it as they will check all sorts out on it not just change the oil and filter, and if anything does go wrong you can go back to them and complain!

yep, go to volvo for service, just like aftershock says, if anything does go wrong the dealer will laugh at u without a volvo service history
how is the s60r going??, performance and handling?, any good driving tales for us?

Except stuff shouldn't go wrong and they will fleece you for every penny they can.

would not using a non - dealer void the warranty? depreciation?

As much as I like the S60 R its the second most unreliable car Volvo make after the S40/V50 2.0D.
Its Volvo's first attempt at that sort of technology and they keep updating the cars year upon year, sad truth about it their not selling enough and all the tech will probs go to Ford for them to make a silly Focus.

When the MT6 gear linkage broke in week 3 worst part of ownership was suffering Volvo Assist (RAC!!) for 5 hours when only 1 mile from home. Won't be bothering to extend the service!! Only other problems are condensation in front fogs and unbeliveable tendency to kerb the front & rear nearside 18" pegasus - why when my 5 series were same size/profile?? Do not recommend the graphite colour alloys - look great when perfect and don't show the brake dust but kerbing looks worse as alloy comes through!! Does anyone else lose coins from trouser pockets in the seats??
Driving is revelation especially so if you have 'cooking' S60 - old steering, no 4C & just woolly by comparison. Maybe not up to M3 or S4 but I paid £26k brand new plus got £2k p/ex over allowance so suddenly you need to compare to A4T or 9.3 Aero !! Do get some of the side step in comfort mode but in real quandary whether I should get dealer to make any fix - any more opinions on this welcomed?

the p zero on the s60r are very narrow, compared to other tyres, try something like goodyear f1's, there alot wider even tho the size is the same
