Area with Smithy, definitely somewhere a bit more central.

Post 720727 by V70 Graham on 2014-06-24 16:33:00

Post 720732 by Pinup_gal on 2014-06-24 17:26:36

Hmm last years was central as was the first one.... Abingdon pretty much smack bang in the middle and people made it from way oop North and only a few from the Midlands and South The one in Kingswinford again fairly central and attended by people from way down South and not all of the midland contingent and I don't think any northerners made it. Where exactly are people classing as Central????

Post 720734 by t5 pete on 2014-06-24 17:46:17

Barnsleys pretty central

Well seeing as we had people from all over the country there today, how about Stratford-upon-Avon ? Pete, Adrian, Colin, Liam, Emlyn, Neal, Jim, Steve, Martin, Frankie etc We could have a look round the town on the Sunday as well (always seems quite nice when we're driving through it to Shakespeare)

Post 724972 by JamesT5 on 2014-07-20 19:27:31

What about the Arctic? ;) You'd have an n-ice time there. Anyway, I don't do Christmas anything so it's the one meet I tend to avoid like the plague.

Barnsley Toby carvery http://www.tobycarvery.co.uk/dodworthvalleybarnsley/ Then the hotel http://www.premierinn.com/en/hotel/BARTAB/barnsley-central-m1-j37 So to start the night off all park in the hotel car park get a mini buss etc up to toby carvery after meal out round Barnsley for lots of beers and the best thing you'll get smashed for £20 and have a takeaway at the end of the night for that

Sounds good to me, TBH any excuse to drive somewhere sounds good! I live in the middle of nowhere, so would be good to get out and meet people too. I've no idea if there are any members still around this area. I know there were a few at RAF Marham and a couple Swaffham way I think, but if they were lucky they escaped!

Still not decided a location? How about the Beefeater in Eastmoor? https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?ll=53.237662,-1.54138&spn=0.004405,0.013057&t=m&z=17 Its near the M1, on the edge of/in the peak district and has a premier inn on site.... Or if you're into some good food then the Dog and Partridge in Lower Tean is awesome, downside is the hotel is 6 miles away https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?hl=en&ll=52.944578,-1.976413&spn=0.004435,0.013057&sll=52.791137,-2.754886&sspn=0.008901,0.034289&t=m&fll=52.792961,-2.756809&fspn=0.001113,0.003264&radius=0.86&z=17 The upside is their menu (and they have a challenge too) http://www.dogandpartridgetean.com/dog_and_partridge_menu

Have we decided on a firm date, Graham can make the 13th I believe and I think a few of you will agree, it wouldn't be the same without him. I've decided to go for the same venue as last year. The forum is pretty much split North/South and no one came up with anything sensible. The Ock Mill in Abingdon is half way for pretty much everyone as we decided last year. The Date 13th December!! I still need to contact them to check they are doing christmas menu as there is nothing on their site as of yet. I'll do another thread with all the solid details. Can I have an idea of numbers please so I can contact them and get a booking in. We'll be looking at having all monies collected by November 23rd. 1.Santa 2.
Stop copying and pasting my stuff that I have copied and pasted
For centuries Meriden to the west of Coventry held the claim to be the geographical centre of England, and there has been a stone cross there commemorating the claim for at least 500 years. The justification is that the point farthest from the sea is in the vicinity of Meriden. A rival claim for the true location of the centre of England is made by the site of a tree, the Midland Oak, situated on the boundary between Lillington and Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. Morton, Derbyshire also claims to be the centre of England as it is not only midway along England's longest north - south axis but also midway between the East Coast and the Welsh border. OOOOOOOOOOOOK firstly apologies for the delay. There are some issues this year (mainly due to bad and late planning) but we are going to get around them. The place: Theres no other way to say this.............its a Hungry Horse but they are doing a deal on drinks. Royal Horse Posiedon Way Leamington Spa Warwickshire CV34 6SW United Kingdom For those that have just Google mapped and then asked google where the local hotel is............I can only apologise. The closest appears to be a Holiday Inn, a Travel Lodge is about 2 miles away. This is going to lead to taxi fairs. (From and Too hotel). To help sort this (and as its our fault) we will be taking £15 per head off the final bill. We have booked 16 places in-case anyone else wants to jump on this. Could you please remove your name if you can no longer attend. 1. Santa 2. Pinup_gal 3. V70 Graham 4. Nobber72 5. Relfski 6. Stribo 7. Jamesy12345 8. Dangerous Dave 9. Mrs Dangerous 10.ExternalError 11. JDavis 12. My Natalie 13. 14. 15. 16. The menu: Could you please PM me your meal requests asap :-) Menu can be found at http://www.hungryhorse.co.uk/menus/festive-party (Please ensure you have the Royal Horse selected as the pub). Paying: We will initially absorb the costs of the deposits. (Because I haven't a clue how much they are). If you cannot come for any reason, just send me the cost of the deposit. If you do come, just put all your drinks etc on the tab, we will then split the cost out per head. (Minus the deposits and the taxi/our stupidness compensation, please bring cash - If you just want to pay for your own comsumption, you are more than willing to try and work it out but I'm not willing to put any effort in working it out or any arguments that may arise). Secret Santa: Why not, I enjoy it and I'm sure some of you do too. More details on that to come. Cheers :)
