On the pipe that goes from the intercooler to the throttle body mate. behind the passenger half of the intercooler, look straight down and it's on top of the pipe with an electrical connection at a 45 degree angle.

Is it not attached to the air box with 3 pipes going in or is that something else
Isn't it a pre me7
Even the pre ME7 C70 has the TCV on the side of the airbox. ;)
Even the pre ME7 C70 has the TCV on the side of the airbox. ;)
Now were getting seriously lost mrp is on about a sensor which is on the intake incooler pipe to which the op said code revealed but then he said its a 1998 so most likely pre me7 to which I dont think they have the pressure sensor so must be pointing to the bcs which yes is at the back of the air box

There were ME7 c70s in 98. I think.
Ah, see what you're saying, yeah could be, but pre ME7 C70s still have TCVs not BCSs. ;)
:haha: bcs tcv, T-cakes buns, tomatoes tomato there all the same thing
:haha: bcs tcv, T-cakes buns, tomatoes tomato there all the same thing
Not quite, the BCS is cylindrical, whereas the TCV is cuboid. :P As I believe the BCS either opens or shuts off air to the actuator, whereas the TCV sends pulses to the actuator.

MRP is correct if ME7 and there is a 50/50 chance `cos it`s 98 as it changed about June 1998...... BCS and TCV are the same despite it`s shape or size the round one is the early 850 and the cuboid one is the later V70 item...... Laymen call them BCS but the proper and Volvo term is TCV...... I believe on the M4.4 C70 although the same as the V70 there is no Boost Sensor as there is on the V70 but on the ME7 it is by the intercooler hose It is the type with a hole in the top which collects the dirt , so a quick squirt of an electric cleaner or WD40 should solve the error code !.....fairly common problem.
