Sarkey San is coming over to mine next Saturday to have a few bits done to his R, and I believe V70Graham will be in attendance to make the tea (badly), which got me to thinking, why not make a day of it, so anyone wanting to come along to help, or take the p1$$ you're all welcome, hopefully the weather will be good so we can do a BBQ, if not we have an oven ;) So, if anyone's at a loose end next Saturday, come along, if you need work doing let me know in advance and we can find space to work on your car. Just stick your names down so we know how many to cater for, and if you have any special dietary requirements.

About half an hour with a spirited drive. ;)

I'll be there, in a strictly 'no tools, tea making only' capacity.

While having my brakes fitted yesterday we had a discussion about the discs. I said fit them this way, he said I was wrong, but fitted them my way as they matched the ones taken off. He was right I was wrong, the originals had also been fitted the wrong way round lol. No big deal but don't fancy going back eating humble pie lol.
Anyone fancy swapping the discs over?

How do you fit discs the wrong way? Not taking the piss, but if it can be done wrong, I could probably do it!!!

Mike's disks are pattern drilled and only go one way round.
I'll pop along with some tools if I'm free but with my current situation, it's 50/50 at the moment.

Excuse me? I took out my MAF sensor yesterday and cleaned it! Ok I didn't use a spanner but it did involve a screwdriver with a T20 security torx bit! Cheeky sod.

We have a filter coffee maker, all you'll have to do is pour it in the mug, and add milk and or sugar.

Sorry for the late reply I've only just got back from Sweden. They don't have Wifi on freight ships :(. Yes that's the torx bits I had to use and yes that's the cleaner I bought to do the job Harvey. I sprayed copious amounts onto the wire and the metal blade section and so far touch wood no more MAF codes have come up. :).

I'll be popping in to say hello once I've....

2. Picked up a new brake master cylinder, two callipers for the V40.
3. Driven to Romford to pick up some SEAT Ibiza body parts
Graham - I'll need a strong coffee tomorrow...
4. Then Back to Guildford to fit my parts.
I'd offer round two fitting session on Sunday, but I'm crap at BBQ's...
Steve message me If you want me to pick anything up (food/drink.... Emergency parts)..

Had my brakes sorted now but might still come over, just going to the Gym first, then a tip run with garden rubbish. Weather is beautiful here at the moment so the family might then want to do something. What's your postcode mate?

From the sound of it you all had a great laugh, and Sharkey's engine bay looks awesome!
Think I may have to do something like this when I move into my new place with a workshop at the bottom of the garden.
Would be a great way to meet some of you lot and put some faces to names if anyone in or around the north west would be up for it?
I should probably add that my workshop has a bar in it, could get very messy, very quickly :D

Different makes recommend different ways to fit them, I've always been of the opinion that you should allow centrifugal force to vent the gases to the outside of the disc, but some makes recommend the opposite.
Post 726045 by stribo on 2014-07-25 22:45:30
That's the way I'd have fitted them, but hey, you're a to55er so you know best. Looking good mate. :D
