Volvo Club Forum Ban Again

May interest some people. Approximately 3 years ago I posted a couple of posts on the VOC Forum which were of a political nature and I got accused of being a Troll and racist there was no right of appeal to a ban. In comparison to what gets posted on the VOC forum today it was very mild, but however I received a lifetime ban as some kind person took a dislike to my attitude towards some of the replies that were posted about my comments. Anyway I received a lifetime ban. So three years later I made contact with the directors of the Volvo Owners Club and asked if I could again become a member. I received a reply some 3 weeks later that the ban was for life. You get less for murder. Anyway I joined from my mobile phone which has a separate ISP number and became a new member under the name of Winkel I also posted my full email number and full details so I was not trying to deceive anybody, so I thought. If you can be bothered or want a laugh have a look at some of my posts on the VOV all very sensible but somebody found out who I am and was and have banned me again under the rules of multi named posting. I came clean with one of the VOC directors at the Hatton weekend and told him what I had done all his reply was that he had no have this conversation with me. I believe he is an ex policeman looking after general details. I should have learned a lesson from the time that I was on the forum that the majority of members since I was a member have now left during the last 3 years it appears that the membership of the VOC Club and forum some years ago has decreased by 70%. I also in good faith renewed my membership to the VOC for £30 That was a waste of money I should have donated it to this forum, it will be cancelled. Met a member of this forum with a S60R and had a brief chat which was about the only part of the two hours spent at Hatton. Can be a funny old world at times. I did think I was in a time warp when looking at a group of VOC directors at Hatton. What has surprised me is the number of aggressive posts on the VOC forum make this forum very mild and a pleasure to be here.

Either that or just cos 'O' is next to 'P' on the keyboard, their followers are ending up here & vice versa :)
Either that or just cos 'O' is next to 'P' on the keyboard, their followers are ending up here & vice versa :)
I honestly do not think that is the case. When I was posting on VOC I counted how many VOC members were members of the forum I got to about 20. I also had a chat with the people who now look after the franchise of VOC they were a tad unhappy about the lack of business.

I don't go on there which is a shame really as I had some really good advice off a few voc members but on other forums.. I found the general attitude towards modifications & the few rather outspoken members seemed up for a row. I think all forums are the same, people run them, get friendly with other members, make them moderators & all of a sudden your not allowed an opinion & before you know it you have posts deleted & as you have had a ban. Volvo club members & owners should embrace what they have as I know for a fact that the various honda forums are dead. Saying that when your model of car is driven by pubeless baseball cap wearing idiots I'm surprised any of them can speak let alone write.

To be honest with you the attitudes and rudeness of some people on the VOC forum is why I very rarely use it. There's a distinct 'them and us' mentality where any car built before the Falklands War are accepted and anything after is stuck at the back in a separate group. Another example, I was chatting with Red850restate and he mentioned that when he got there one of the first things said to him when he raised his bonnet from another member was "ooh that's not a standard volvo battery, you'll lose points for that!" WTF, his car is pristine and that's all this idiot was worried about??? There's a lot of politics surrounding the VOC so I tend to spend my time on here rather than there, you'll find a lot of very friendly, very knowledgable guys and girls on here along with plenty of banter. Yeah there's the occasional disagreement but he'll, we are all human in the end lol. BTW it was a pleasure chatting to you on Sunday.

I don't post on VOC at all now, but that's mainly because Tony (strbryan) stalks me and ruins any thread I post in. I don't think Glyn (k9plums) bothers any more either, he tried to resurrect my build thread and Tony was straight on it like a little jack russell terrier.

Mixed feeling about your original post Mac to be honest. Obviously you are welcome here (rules, terms and conditions permitting ;) ) and I'm not looking to offend you though its their house their rules and by being in their house you should be willing to follow them. The original reason for your ban may seem grey but most forums don't allow the use of multiple accounts and also don't have an appeal procedure for bans. We have started a process of re-reviewing older bans (sort of 3 year+) to see if life bans were justified but unfortunately some are. (Not saying yours might be, after all I don't use VOC, didnt see the original cause for ban or know their rules or processes).

We won Second Place Best Stand lol with 12 cars and Gazebos...... :) You're better off on here Mac....delete the VOC shortcut on your desktop and be done with them.

The VOC has it's place.. I've been banned from Pistonheads for promoting an Anglesey Trackday in 2006 in the meets section because it was determined as a profit making attempt... You won't see a sticker of that forum on any if my cars anytime soon

Hmm... I'm a regular over there. I can't stand the politics that go on, but it is an excellent source of technical help. I just stay out of "The Lounge," there's usually an argument of some sort going on and it all gets very boring, very quickly. The Banter Bar is much better, at least you lot have a sense of humour. Christ, some of you are nearly as twisted as me! There are a couple of interesting projects going on though. My favourite being Antz' T5'd 240 estate. I loves a bit of old skool! ;) Long live VPC, you're all £££££££s and I love it! :D
Is it me or is VPC picking up quite a few disgruntled ex-VOC chaps
Is it me or......is there just something about Volvo enthusiasts that predisposes them towards hostility and bickering? :hidesbehi It's something I've been thinking about for a while now. And obviously I'm not having a dig at ever single member of every single Volvo forum, so please don't all get premenstrual and start flaming me for it! I've used quite a few different car based forums for various marques over the years (finger in the air, I guess about 14 years) and they all have a different feel too them, and a different personality dictated by the type of enthusiasts drawn to that particular marque. But since I've been on VPCUK, looked at VOC occasionally, at T5D5 a bit more frequently, and heard some of the stories such as this one about the behaviour that goes on in each......well, I've just never known such behaviour on ANY other forum to be quite honest! I love it though :bounce: I do like a bit of drama, and it' much better than watching Eastenders!

I have always found the members from this site soo much more friendly and less like arrogant ££££s from the other Volvo forums... :)

Post 723435 by MacXC60T5 on 2014-07-10 15:35:38

Now received a £30.00 refund from the Volvo Owners Club. When my Partner and self visited the Hatton site we were both very surprised at the rudeness and arrogance of some of the older members. I need advice on the paintwork of my S60T6 nothing major so asked a couple of members if they could take a view. I was told they were only interested in the older type of Volvo's. As you can imagine my partner asked me why I had wasted my time and money in joining the club. What a waste of time Hatton was other than the shops. Some of the best Car Show days have been when different types of vehicles have been on display, sound a bit odd but the Kit Car show is a great show. We used to Have the Town and Country Fair at the NAC and the car section was very big. HS2 will go through a corner of the site, if it gets built. So looks like I shall be making a donation to a good cause.
