Hi there, While I've been into volvos for a long time, I've only just signed up to VPCUK.
I like the idea of the UK forums too, as from our point of view the spec on the cars is far closer between UK/Europe and Australia.
Since 1998 or so, I've had the following volvos (with gaps for company cars in between)
1979 245 auto
1979 245 manual
1990 240 manual sedan
1995 850T5 auto wagon
1997 S70T5 manual
1998 V70T5 auto
The V70T5 is serving as our current project car, we picked it up in January. Its the only Volvo I have left at the moment.
I live in Geelong, Victoria, Australia - about 80kms from Melbourne (toward the bottom of the country).
While it still gets bloody cold in winter, we have some fantastic beaches a few minutes up the road.
The town is the home of local engine manufacturing for Ford (the plant will close at the end of 2016).
Cheers,
Ash

Welcome to the forum :D
So what is the plan for the V70 then?

Thanks all for the welcoming.
V70 at the moment is serving as a mule for some P80 platform stuff that our business is working on. We needed more regular access to a vehicle again to do some test-fitting and evaluation tasks that were taking longer than ideal.
I like the cars though, so once thats done, I'll likely drive it around a little and enjoy it. After that, it'll likely move on in favour of a C30 or LS-LV Ford Focus.

yes that's it. I heard the unions are pretty strong down your way
what are you doing with the P80 cars, sounds interesting

Blue collar labour and manufacturing is heavily unionised here, often to the detriment of the industries themselves.
It's certainly one of the reasons, along with an inflated AUD (against the USD), that local manufacturing is either closing up shop or slowing.
Both are definitely a factor in the death of our automotive manufacturing.
We offer a few things already for the P80 platform, but some of the projects we needed to get finished were suffering with sporadic access to a vehicle in recent times.
The two key projects are a brake conversion and a decent swaybar link arrangement.
This forum is excellent too as it's more relevant to our local market than the US based forums. Knowing a couple of people who use the forum already is nice too.
