So, as Mrs Sideways is now 13 weeks pregnant, I can now tell people I'm gonna be a dad. Terrified!!

Awww Congratulations bud!!.. So chuffed for you!.. Life as you know it... is now over.. lmao.. Trust me, it's the best thing that can ever happen in your life.

Post 726581 by stribo on 2014-07-28 21:50:57

Congratulations, be afraid, be very afraid. :D

Post 726582 by M-R-P on 2014-07-28 21:51:30

Haha... Gongratulations sucker! Just be aware... She'll turn into an unreasonable, unpredictable, hormonal pain in the arse.... Yeah, she's probably a pain now but, like a lettuce leaf poking out your bum, that's just the tip of the iceberg! When the little one is born, the best tip I can offer is get sleep whenever you can.. Even if it's while sat on the toilet. You'll need it.

Post 726631 by RichT4 on 2014-07-29 07:22:22

Congratulations matey, you'll enjoy every second of fatherhood.... Cough cough! :rotfl: :) my little one is 4 now, and getting cheekier everyday. He's grabbing more and more of my personality as time goes on. Tip of the day: if you say you'll do something, do it! The kid will learn fast. I love being a dad, no doubt you will too, give my best to the missus and I hope the pregnancy goes well.

Post 726657 by Doingitsideways on 2014-07-29 08:43:11

Cheers guys. Louise is gonna be a brilliant mum, no question of that in my mind. Patience of a saint that one and she's done a fantastic job pulling me back from the brink of self destruction in the past 14 years! :)

Post 726659 by M-R-P on 2014-07-29 08:52:26

Can't beat a good woman.... ...it always leaves a mark, then you get in trouble ;)

Post 726676 by Wobbly Dave on 2014-07-29 10:27:51

Eat sleep sh_1T repeat. Babies lull you into a false sense of security, as initially they are always in the place where you put them down. Then they start moving. Having a staple gun helps. LOL

Post 726677 by M-R-P on 2014-07-29 10:32:42

Little M-R-P used to just randomly vanish and reappear 5 minutes later after we'd gone mad with worry. I said to the missus "we should put a bell on him..." Result - one of the bell-on-a-peg things I use for fishing was promptly attached to his nappy and we were happy. For about 20 minutes when he worked out how to get the thing off and vanish any way. Infants are like Borg - whatever you try to maintain control, will work once or twice, then they get wise to it and you're back to square one. Now he's 5, I rely on fear to keep him in check lol ;)

Post 726808 by Biff on 2014-07-29 22:52:02

Welcome to the club, mrs biff is due 01/11 & I'm still working my way through the "nest" list to keep the moaning hormonal banshee happy. It's pretty scary when you've never been a dad before. Feeling them kick is pretty awesome though. I can't wait! ;)

Post 757458 by Doingitsideways on 2015-01-26 00:47:17

Soo... Been a while. Well, I'm pleased to announce that at around 9:30 yesterday morning, we had a little bay girl. 8lb 4oz. After a liitle over 32 hours' labour, the powers that be decided enough was enough and she was delivered via cesarean section. I fell apart in the theater, it has to be said. Thought I was going to lose them both. It;s been a roller coaster!! Anyway, for those that are interested: Meet Emily June Lund (Sideways) Image Image Image I'm so proud of Mrs Sideways, I can't describe it. She somehow managed to turn my ingredients into something so amazing! (Or the milkman's, not sure!) Anyway, here's to lots of sleepless nights, and locking boyfreinds up in the shed 'til she's 25!! ;) Steve

Congratulations buddy! I'm slightly envious in a way because i really want a girl hahaha. My son wouldn't appreciate that so don't tell him ;) She looks a right cute one so look forward to the future with them both!!!

Post 757468 by V70 Graham on 2015-01-26 08:12:52

Congratulations to you both.

Post 757469 by Doingitsideways on 2015-01-26 08:20:06

Thanks guys. I'll admit that we both really wanted a boy and were both openly disappointed when we found out at the scan, much to the lady's horror! But now, I wouldn't change her for the world. I can see when she's a teenager and playing up, me blurting out "You should have been a boy!" Yeah, save that one for future use! ;) lol

Post 757471 by jdavis on 2015-01-26 08:32:45

Congratulations to you both!

Post 757473 by jamesy12345 on 2015-01-26 08:53:13

Congratulations pal! I've got 2 myself, Callum who was 4 in November and Ava who will be 6 on Friday! And I don't even like kids!lol Best thing that has ever happened to me though, hard work like! Sometimes feel like tearing my own hair out but wouldn't change it for the world! But like has already been said seeing there oersonalities as they get older is hilarious! Ava is a bit more reserved but can be really stroppy, where as Callum is......well just a typical lad! All the best mate!

Post 757493 by Wobbly Dave on 2015-01-26 11:52:36

Having had all 4 girls delivered by C-section I know how traumatic it can be. Anyway all's well that ends well. Congratulations Oh be sure to keep on top of your wife's wound care. On our 1st C-section Ellen was re-admitted because it became septic. Top tip is to buy your own digital thermometer and keep an eye on her obs.

Excellent news mate, congratulations.

Post 757616 by Doingitsideways on 2015-01-27 08:34:49

Thanks so much guys, means a lot. I'm probably going to be off the radar for a bit, while things settle down. Try not to miss me too much won't you?! Hopefully they'll be coming home today. They were all ready to send them home yesterday morning (2 days isn't enough time to recover from a cesarean as far as I'm concerned!) but Emily was jaundiced so is being treated for that. Hopefully if her levels have dropped sufficiently she'll be home today :) That's where it gets scary - no back up at home!!

Post 757682 by Biff on 2015-01-27 21:01:43

Congrats dude! It's hard work but very worth it! I love my little man more than anything. ❤️
