Fallen in love again.

TBH didn't really fall out of love with it, but having not driven the S60R much recently, this weekend I've put over 300 miles on it, and it really is a great car to drive. As much as I like my C70's torque, its ride is too hard, and as much as I love the sound the Soarer makes, it's too slow, and a bit uncomfortable on a long run as the headrest sits too low, the S60R however, is comfortable,in comfort mode, stiffens up nicely in sport mode, silent when just cruising, loud when you boot it, and has a bucket load of power to deal with most cars on the road, if you so wish, but will happily pootle around town with no problems. It is just the best all rounder, o.k. it's a bit thirsty on fuel, but we didn't buy it for the economy. It may not be the focused sports saloon like an M3, but it's more sure footed, and for 90% of the time a better car, the 10% it isn't is when you want to drive like a loon, on a smooth dry road, where a M3 will run rings around it, but then the R will never throw you off the road. ;) Obviously I still want more power. :D

Never have a problem with it, it's in just the right place for me, but then I'm 6'3", having said that Rachel's never complained about it, and she's 5'3". It properly depends how upright you have the seat backrest, we both have it a bit reclined.

Having them reclined makes a big difference, but she does still think it's uncomfortable, I notice it to if I'm I. The passenger seat, we can't recline because jacks behind, I only get a sore neck after a long journey.

If she's in the passenger seat, she has to sit quite a way forward, because Charlie's seat is behind, but she's never mentioned the headrest being uncomfortable. I rarely sit in the passenger seat, as she won't drive the car with me as a passenger. lol

I rarely sit in the passenger seat, as she won't drive the car with me as a passenger. lol[/QUOTE] That's one thing I dont like doing after the accident, I try having my seat as far away from the dash as I can, I think that saved me quite a bit in the crash because jacks isofix was at the drivers side so I used to have the seat all the way back.

We put Brian in the middle of the rear seat - it gives him leg room whoever is driving and he loves the view :)

[QUOTE=M-R-P;727791]It's a plod spec car, there's no osofix anywhere mate.[/QUOTE] It makes no difference being a plod car, I've had to put it into the 40, 60 and 70, the later of the P2's would have it as standard, I wouldn't be without it, I had him in the 60 with just the belts before I got my brackets, I took it into mothercare due to the amount of movment and they said that's the best you will get it due to the car having baucket type seats at the back, I didn't feel safe with it one bit, at least with ISOFIX there is very limited chance of human error. Volvo sell the kit it's not expensive.

Putting it in the middle means the tilt you get using the end of the bench, isn't an issue, plus, he's a good few feet away from each door preventing him playing with buttons, handles and a bit of distance in a side-on impact. Bit late to worry about it now tho, he'll be in a booster in a couple of months any way.

See I always thought the middle would have been the safest place too but when we went to mothercare they said it's not, God knows why because I can understand the whole side impact situation. My new chair has the latest feature, a strap that you lock onto the boot floor, my cars don't support this feature but seats are getting safer, I think this one can hold him till he is 7 or 8, I'm just grateful Jack was in his correctly, it amazes me the amount of pictures I've seen with there kids seat belts hanging off them. Did you ever see the picture with how the royals strapped there baby in? It's horrifying, people always think it won't happen to them .....

Personally, I'd rather believe the owners manual of a Volvo over the halfwitts that work in mothercare. Volvo says all 3 seats are good for a strap-on carseat and that's good enough for me.

I know its incorrect but just think about all the children who came thru the 60s, 70s etc with no car seats ..I remember sitting in back in middle just so I could lean both arms on the front seats for a decent view ..and lying flat out across back seats for a nap ....changed days

I used to sleep in the boot of my dad's Volvo when we went caravan holidays, I'm still alive, would be a different story if we crashed though. Sorry guys I just see it from a different perspective now that's all.

Sitting the child in the middle of the back seat is the most dangerous place to put the baby seat as if you have an accident happens, he's more likely to come threw the front and out threw the front windscreen. Sitting on either side he would hit the back of the front seats which is still bad but not as bad. Isofix is deffo the safest way to attach a baby seat. In the eighties my dad had a camper van where my brother and I use to stand up in the back and my dad would drive around trying to see if he could get us to fall over lol. A lot more traffic on the road these days so more danger. I'm glad my kids are old enough now to be able to use the seatbelts.
